It’s the perfect base for active holidays all year round – in the winter, skiers and snowboarders take to the pistes of Baqueira Beret ski resort. Spectacular vistas over Salardu and the Baqueira Beret ski slopes serve a treat for the eyes from the moment you wake up in the morning until the second you go to sleep. And thanks to the home’s large windows, there are plenty of viewpoints to observe those incredible urban landscapes. Begin each day with a steaming hot Americano from the coffee machine and perch yourself on the chaise end of the comfy corner sofa to gaze at the rugged mountain scape in style.

The soft, soothing nature of this place exists just as much on the inside as it does on the out. We particularly love the colour scheme – it’s calm but cosy – and the natural wooden touches speckled from here to there make things all the more inviting. There’s also an open brickwork wall in the bathroom, large light fixtures and brightening mirrors dotted from room to room. So, if you fancy yourself as an interior design aficionado, you’re sure to appreciate what the homeowner has done with the place. 

Craving a moment’s me time? Indulge in some well–deserved rest and relaxation as you sink into the bubbly depths of the free–standing bath tub. The perfect place to enjoy a flute of fizz, head here as dusk settles and let the evening while away as you embrace your private spa–like setting.

Step through the door, and there’s an undeniable homely feel that envelopes you straight away. It’s just a short ski from your apartment across to the cable car which will carry you up the mountain for a day on the slopes. When it’s time to unwind, wander into the village and replenish the calories you’ve burned with some tasty tapas, before heading back to your homely home and wrapping yourself up in those snuggly throws.

Ideal for families or groups of friends, this apartment is warm and welcoming. It’s just five minutes from Arties, where you’ll find plenty of top-notch restaurants, and is also a great base for hiking in the Aran Valley. Skiers will love being close to Baqueira-Beret, and will also appreciate the ski locker. We love the private garden space, where you can admire beautiful mountain views. To really push the boat out, ask your host to book a private chef for a celebratory dinner. 

Changes of Seasons

You’ll find this abode situated in the Spanish Pyrenees, right on the doorstep of the Baqueira Beret ski resort. Inside the home, it’s stylish yet inviting. Expect creamy neutral hues, wood-effect feature walls and a collection of sumptuous modern furnishings. Make yourself comfortable in the bright living space as the appointed chef of your group rustles up a treat in the fully-equipped kitchen. 

After a cat nap in the quiet bedrooms, grab your skis and hop on the cable car a short walk away. Whizz along the 160 kilometres of linked slopes before finding a bar in the heart of town for a well-deserved glass of wine. If you’re keen to try something a little different, explore the surrounding winter walking trails or take the ten-minute drive into the traditional Aranese village of Arties.

Pyrenean Bloom

Located right near where the border separates Spain from France, this rough-stone home stands tall in all its rustic charm – and if you think the facade is attractive, just wait until you take a look inside. Continuing on with the mix of natural stone and timber, this modernised living space exemplifies comfort with a wood-burning stove, soft lighting, and a sofa you can sink into. Curl up here after you’ve kindled a fire and let time be the last thing on your mind as you finally get to the book of poetry you’ve been meaning to read for the longest time. Get lost in the pages until lunch where you can take to the compact kitchenette to prepare light bites, or head out to one of the local eateries if you’re not in the mood to cook. 

On the upper floor you’ll find generous bedrooms and a bathroom, but it’s the room that opens out on the balcony that you’ll want to call your own for the duration of your stay. It not only has ample space and light, but we bet you can already see yourself standing on the balcony with a cup of coffee at sunrise. It’s also, coincidentally, the perfect location for a bit of last minute stargazing before turning in for the night. 

The area, as you’ll be able to determine from the view, is inescapably beautiful and you can admire some of the natural wonders by hiking the trails in the area. Baqueira Beret, the nearest ski lift, is just over 18 miles away and Luchon Golf Course is just under 6 miles.

Put your large glass of red down on your tree stump coffee table, whilst the smell of dinner fills the open space. With views over the Posets-Maladeta natural park, it's quite a conversation starter as you settle down for a meal with loved ones.
 
His and her sinks are one of the many delights this captivating casa has to offer. Its extensive renovation to a modern yet chic mountain house is perfect. Neutral tones and natural materials throughout reflect the postcard-ready surroundings you’re sure to enjoy during your stay. 
 
In the winter, skiing takes centre stage but this ideally located home is within minutes of many local delights. So whether you’re eating in or eating out, it’s nothing short of a winter wonderland. With pistes for every type of explorer, everyone can embrace the outdoors.


Call of the Mountains

From the outside, this home in the town of Garòs overlooked by verdant mountains looks rather rustic, but that's only partially true of the interior. Granted, the exposed stonework and wooden ceiling beams add a quaint air, but much of the design is thrillingly contemporary. You only need to look at the sleek grey kitchen, minimalist bedrooms and black bathrooms to see what we mean.

Those indifferent to decor trends will instead be happy to note the large terrace on which it's possible to sit out and admire the picturesque surroundings, or perhaps the foosball room might take their fancy instead. This is certainly a home in which relaxation is easy to find, whether that's gathered around the fireplace or sinking back into the bathtub.

You'll probably need to put your feet up at some point given the number of possible excursions that lie nearby. Come during the winter months and you can head over to the ski town of Baqueira in only fifteen minutes in the car. If you're visiting during the warmer months, there are hiking routes galore throughout the Aran Valley.
