But it's outside around that oh-so-private infinity pool and shady terrace that's getting us hot under the collar – and with panoramas this jaw-dropping, can you blame us?

When thoughts turn to food and a glass of something crisp, turn up the heat outside with sunsets barbecues – the outdoor kitchen with a wood-burning oven is ready and waiting. Or hop in the car and blaze a trail to the charming pueblo blanco of Torrox (just a short drive away) and dive into its countless tapas bars – there's a candle-lit table waiting just for you.

The Mountain Breeze

Located just 4 kilometres from Torrox, this stylish home offers a scenic retreat from which to enjoy the delights of the Andalusian coast.

Inside, tall ceilings, tiled floors and contemporary decor set a welcoming scene in the open-plan living area. Open the glass doors here to step out onto a private patio where a shaded dining area facing the surrounding picturesque hills beckons alfresco feasts aplenty courtesy of the barbecue. Around the corner, you’ll also find a shimmering plunge pool – the ideal way to unwind at any time of day or night, a glass of bubbly in hand. Alternatively, take in the breathtaking vistas from the bedroom’s picture window-facing armchair and feel inspired to work on something creative at the handy desk space just next to it.

When it comes to exploring outside your home, make a beeline for the nearby beaches (3.1 kilometres away) or visit some of the charming villages in the vicinity, including Frigiliana and Nerja, both under 20 kilometres from your door.

Inigo

Perched in the Torrox hills, in the heart of the Costa Del Sol countryside, this rural villa is an idyllic setting for a country retreat with friends or family. Inside, home comforts are balanced with traditional design features, resulting in cosy living spaces that are a delight to unwind in – we love the original beams and picture frame windows in the living room that flood the open space with Mediterranean light. Make a beeline for the dynamic kitchen, where you’ll find everything you need to rustle up an Andalusian tapas feast for you and your cohort.

We have to say the outside space captured our hearts here. Boasting a pristine pool and breathtaking views over the olive-grove-studded landscape and across the Sierra de Almijara mountains, this is the perfect place to while away balmy summer afternoons. Sprawl out on one of the poolside sun loungers and settle in for a day of sun-soaking and pool-dipping. Chances are it’ll still be warm when night falls, so why not soak up the balmy atmosphere and enjoy a grilled barbecue dinner alfresco? As the moon illuminates the majestic mountains, settle in for some stargazing with a glass of Rioja.

The Mountain is Calling

Perched in the mountains of Torrox, overlooking the Sierra de Almijara and Sierra de Tejeda mountain ranges, this villa offers impressive sights. Surrounded by fruit trees and vineyards, this villa has rustic charm aplenty.

Inside, authentic features are combined with Southeast Asian influences – think Cotto tiles, ornate furnishings and Balinese designs. The open-plan living space is the perfect spot to socialise, though we expect you’ll spend most of your time here dining and unwinding outside with the view. Enjoy quiet moments with coffee from the patio before enjoying a leisurely breakfast spread of fresh fruit from the garden. The sparkling pool will beckon you to the terrace, where you can stretch out with your holiday read and share sundowners as the evening unfolds. Come nightfall, you’ll want to gather around the stunning outdoor dining table for a barbecued feast under the stars.

There are plenty of charming villages to visit along the Costa del Sol coastline, all within driving distance. Adventurous types can hit the hiking trails to explore the magnificent scenery – the nearby Poza de Los Patos trail is simply awe-inspiring. And, if you fancy a day trip, you can drive to the vibrant coastal city of Málaga in around an hour.

The double-aspect glass doors in the living space are also particularly generous when it comes to natural light, too.
