This family-friendly apartment sits on a complex with a communal pool for summer stays, so expect a little noise around the shared facilities. We love that Las Dunas Beach is just 100 metres away, where restaurants line the promenade. There's also a free parking spot on-site, so how about planning a road trip along the Costa del Sol? Alternatively, your host can help arrange fun boat charters.

A Moment to Remember

Sitting at 550m above sea level, this stunning mountain refuge offers an enviable bird's-eye view over soaring landscapes and verdant valleys. The peaks of the Sierra Tejeda command the vista to the east while staring southwards will lead your eye all the way to the azure waters of the Mediterranean Sea. 

Your hosts first discovered this hidden gem back in 2015. Enchanted by the setting, they spent months tracking down the home's original owners, followed by a couple of years creating this idyllic Ibiza-inspired escape. Thanks to their background in interior design, the inside is gorgeous, with terracotta-tiled floors, eye-catching artwork and enchanting trinkets lining the shelves. While it would've been easy to copy and paste similar designs throughout all five bedrooms, they've gone the extra mile to provide each one with a unique personality.

Outside has been created to embrace the natural beauty on your doorstep – whether you're stretched out on sun loungers beside the pool, tucking into homemade pizzas fresh from the outdoor oven, or laid up in a hammock with a good book – it's impossible not to switch off and feel any stress ebb away on the Andalusian breeze.

La Maroma

This finca’s crowning achievement might be the fabulous outdoor space – and the views on offer from it – but that doesn’t take away from the beautiful blend of rustic charm and more modern elements. 

Start your day on the balcony where you can enjoy a cup of coffee just after sunrise. Bask in the tranquillity as you admire ocean views flanked by rolling hills and the mountains of the Andalusian region. When you’ve found your peace, return inside to take on breakfast duties together. 

Spend days poolside or on the balcony where you can enjoy wine and nibbles before firing up the barbecue for a Mediterranean feast. Though the beach is a little farther to drive to, it’s worth the more rural location and it also places you in closer proximity to Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama Natural Park where you can spot waterfalls and admire the sweeping views as you hike one of the many trails. 

Back home, enjoy the sunset with a drink in the hot tub, and stay outside, making yourself comfortable in any of the seating areas, to chat under the sparkling night sky.

Finca Solar

High up in the Axarquian countryside, tucked into the foothills of the Sierra de Almijara and Sierra de Tejeda mountain ranges, this charming villa is a vision of yellow. This vibrant oasis offers plenty of space for relaxation and a sprawling backdrop of the herbaceous valley.

As soon as you arrive you’ll be met with a marigold façade, but step inside and you’ll find a palette of crisp white and hints of its sunny exterior. The open-plan living space is thoughtfully designed to celebrate the natural elements – sliding glass doors allow you to admire the expansive views from your plush sofa. You’ll love opening the doors each morning as the sun rises and savouring the quiet beauty of this setting with a coffee on the terrace. Days can be spent floating in your pool, stretched out on the loungers with your holiday read or grilling up some padron peppers on the barbecue – the outdoor dining room is our favourite spot from which to enjoy the panoramas. As the stars descend, pour a glass of Macabeo and soak up the balmy evening heat with your loved ones.

Just a short drive away, you'll be able to make the most of the pristine beaches and quaint seaside tavernas of Torrox. When it's time to explore the great outdoors, make the drive to Nerja, where you will find spectacular hiking trails and birdwatching tracks up in the Sierra de Almijara mountains.

Sol y Soul

An apartment, in the heart of Nerja, with a private heated pool? Count us in. Inside, there’s a kitchen with all the accoutrements for home cooking and an en-suite bedroom with access to the furnished terrace. While this home can sleep four guests, two will be on the sofa bed in the living area, which will compromise any social space. If exploring is on the itinerary, the Balcón de Europa viewpoint and Carabeillo Beach are within easy walking distance of your doorstep.

Blue Skies & Sunshine

This stunning Andalusian villa is the perfect getaway for a holiday with your loved ones. The interior of the home is very nicely designed, but it’s the exterior we’re most enthusiastic about. With an infinity pool, ping-pong table and several lovely terraces (including a rooftop one) we don’t blame you if you’d like to spend all your time here. If you want the best of both – the beach is a thirty-minute walk away and the beautiful cities of Málaga and Granada are roughly an hour’s drive down the road.

Dreaming Of Andalusia

It's easy peasy lemon squeezy to sit back and relax in this Mediterranean paradise. And with panoramic views stretching over the valley and out to sea, you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing your spot on the porch or out by the private swimming pool in the secluded garden. 

Breathe in the fresh aromatics of the home's vegetable garden, growing seasonal fares, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, aubergines, fava beans, garlic, onions, sugar canes, and tropical products, such as avocadoes, mangoes, pitayas, lychees. The host welcomes you to pick the produce when it's ripe to use when cooking up your own culinary delights in the kitchen or on the barbecue grill. You'll also find fresh eggs at the henhouse that you can select for free – meaning there should always be something available for breakfast in the morning. 

The home's interior offers just as much Mediterranean charm as original features, and traditional Andalusian styles inject character into the otherwise minimal modern designs. While we think hanging out, sunbathing and making a splash in the pool present enough to keep you feeling refreshed and revitalised, you'll also be located just 3 kilometres away from the nearest beach and within easy reach of the local town of Torrox. 


Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy 

Nestled in the peaceful Axarquia countryside in the foothills of the Sierra de Almijara and Sierra de Tejeda mountain ranges, this charming villa is surrounded by herbaceous hills. To stay here is to adopt the Andalusian mentality in a truly relaxing and therapeutic way. 

This home offers authentic rural features and contemporary comforts –  terracotta floors, original tiles and picture-frame windows that let you invite the soft breeze in alongside plush furnishings and ambient light fixtures. Make the most of your mornings with a few strokes in the crystalline pool before a juice refreshment under the shade of the pergola. Prepare a fresh breakfast spread in your dynamic kitchen, then gather together in the outdoor dining space. Your day can take multiple routes – whether it’s spent stretching out on the loungers overlooking the parking Mediterranean with your long-awaited summer read or enjoying a glass of sangria soundtracked by local bird song.

Put on your walking boots and head out to explore the hiking trails, making sure to stop off at Puerto de la Graja, an observation deck with breathtaking views. Or, head into Torrox and dine away in one of the town’s tavernas overlooking the lighthouse.

Blue Mountain

We never underestimate the power of a killer view. Which is precisely why this blissfully secluded Finca perched high in the valley above the coast of Nerja caught our eye.

Perfectly designed for alfresco living, the vast south-facing terrace is the spot to drink up those sea and mountain vistas (preferably with a glass of something chilled in hand). As is that cool, blue pool with an outdoor shower to beat the heat. And just imagine this place at sunset as you fire up the barbecue – that’s a memory made right there.

Inside, while the interiors aren’t winning any design gongs soon, everywhere feels beautifully cared for and charming. Cool, terracotta floors and exposed stonework bring the character, while the bedrooms feel blissfully quiet with no traffic noise to disturb your beauty sleep here.

If you can tear yourself away from the panoramic scenes outside, you’ll find you’re closer to the action than you think. The nearest village, Frigiliana (a ten-minute drive), is an afternoon well spent with its tapas bars tucked away in the Moorish old quarter. Nerja, with its ten miles of sandy shores, is a twenty-minute drive for something a little buzzier. Or don your hiking boots or hop on your mountain bikes to explore the verdant pine forests of the Sierra Almijara nature reserve and the lost village of Acebucha – trails start close to your door.

Cloud Forest

Nestled between the Andalusian mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, this villa has a truly idyllic location. While you would think the stunning scenery is its main lure, that's not the case here – this fortress-like home is remarkable inside and out.

The peaceful outdoor space is undoubtedly a highlight. On hot days – thanks to the Costa del Sol climate – you can cool off in the pool and dry off on one of the surrounding loungers, all whilst soaking up the impressive landscape vistas. Head to the shared tennis courts to admire the arched architecture – they’re worth visiting even if tennis isn’t your forte. As evening comes around, cook up a smoky tapas feast on the barbecue for your loved ones and make the most of the stunning scenery.

When you head inside, you won't be disappointed. The open layout makes the interior feel bright and expansive, while there's an eclectic array of original features dotted about the place that adds a good dose of authentic character. As well as looking the part, it's also really rather cosy – come evening time, why not treat yourself to a soak in the bath before snuggling up next to the fireplace with a glass of Rioja?

When it comes to seeing a little more of the local area, the golden sands of Playa de la Caleta de Vélez are easy to reach in the car, while you can head into the mountains for unforgettable nature walks. If you’re in the mood for a day trip, the centre of Malaga will take you under an hour to get to when you fancy a day packed full of museums and historic architecture. 

Mi Arma

Tucked into the hillside, gazing lovingly out over Frigiliana, this charming villa is a welcoming, classical Spanish retreat. Inside, the home is bathed in natural light courtesy of the generous arched windows – which we love, by the way, with the shape and floral decoration adding so much character to the living area. White walls, dark wooden beams and mosaic tiles, so befitting of the local area, run through the remainder of the inside space, giving the home a personality of its own. Picture cosy evenings spent here, the fire crackling and casting an amber glow around the room as you get stuck into a good book, tucked up on the comfortable leather sofa. 

Outdoors, this home really sparks into life. The split-level terraces mean you have a selection of places to take in the beautiful view across Frigiliana as far as the beaches of Nerja. Lazy days relaxing on a lounger with the sun’s rays warming your skin as you soak up those vistas will never get old. If the heat becomes a little stifling, cool off in your private pool before lighting the barbecue and settling down to an alfresco meal with loved ones. With an abundance of flowers peppered around the terraces leaving their delicate floral scent hanging in the breeze and the company of those dearest to you, you’ll feel so completely at home, you may never want to leave. 


As Free as a Bird

In one direction, you’ve got the meandering trails of the Sierras de Tejeda
Mountains and in the other, it’s a leisurely walk to Nerja’s beachfront. Simplicity is the watchword, inside and out. The backyard is dominated by a shimmering swimming pool – as it should be in the southern Spanish heat. The huge, open-plan kitchen, living and dining room is sleek, if a little sparse – a place for folk that prefer clear surfaces, no clutter and plenty of sunlight streaming in through walls of glass. Up on the first floor, a balcony looks out over the sea.
