We never underestimate the power of a killer view. Which is precisely why this blissfully secluded Finca perched high in the valley above the coast of Nerja caught our eye.

Perfectly designed for alfresco living, the vast south-facing terrace is the spot to drink up those sea and mountain vistas (preferably with a glass of something chilled in hand). As is that cool, blue pool with an outdoor shower to beat the heat. And just imagine this place at sunset as you fire up the barbecue – that’s a memory made right there.

Inside, while the interiors aren’t winning any design gongs soon, everywhere feels beautifully cared for and charming. Cool, terracotta floors and exposed stonework bring the character, while the bedrooms feel blissfully quiet with no traffic noise to disturb your beauty sleep here.

If you can tear yourself away from the panoramic scenes outside, you’ll find you’re closer to the action than you think. The nearest village, Frigiliana (a ten-minute drive), is an afternoon well spent with its tapas bars tucked away in the Moorish old quarter. Nerja, with its ten miles of sandy shores, is a twenty-minute drive for something a little buzzier. Given the local climate, you will probably want to spend as many waking hours in the open air as possible and there are plenty of ways to do just that across the ten-hectare site. Not only is the swimming pool especially cooling on hot afternoons, but it also looks out over sweeping views of local hillsides. If you're ever in need of a little shade, there's lots of space to sit and relax beneath the leafy pergola, too.

The address sure does feel secluded and the nearest village – Cómpeta – is just over two kilometres away, offering a small selection of shops and restaurants. A little further afield, the coastline lies about 20 kilometres away and there's a great selection of beaches from which to pick.

We're particularly fond of the open–plan living/dining area. With an aged fire at its centre, here you'll also find a comfy sofa to sink into, a flat–screen TV and large dining table, ready and waiting to host a series of Spanish feasts.

When it comes to exploring outside your home, make a beeline for the nearby beaches (3.1 kilometres away) or visit some of the charming villages in the vicinity, including Frigiliana and Nerja, both under 20 kilometres from your door.

Country getaway or beach break? This Andalusian villa is so kind as to give you the benefits of both. Not only does it sit in a secluded location surrounded by verdant hillsides, but the golden sands of Torrox beach are only just over a quarter of an hour away by car.

That being said, you might not even want to head over to the seaside when you take into consideration the incredible outdoor space at your disposal at the address. Scorching hot afternoons can be spent jumping in and out of the home's swimming pool, which looks out to peaceful views of the locale. Add into the mix plenty of loungers, a Balinese bed and a verandah in case you're in need of a little shade, and it's like you have your very own beach club to yourselves.

Although it's very much an address that prioritises the alfresco way of life, the interior won't disappoint when you finally head indoors for the night.  The design manages to combine rustic elements typical of the region, like exposed stonework and terracotta tiling underfoot, with more contemporary finishes in the stylish living room and kitchen.

Aside from the aforementioned stretch of coastline, there are plenty of distractions that lie nearby. The Sierras of Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama Natural Park starts ten minutes' drive from the home and contains a wealth of walking routes and scenic points. You can also get to the city of Malaga in around forty-five minutes, which is ideal for a day trip spent hopping around galleries, shops and cafes.

Although this villa is only ten minutes' drive from the Malagan coastline, the green hillsides that surround the address and the sense of seclusion make it feel a lot further inland. 

As such, it's remarkably easy to relax here, especially in the outdoor area complete with a swimming pool and a Balinese bed that overlooks the glistening water. As well as that, there's also a large stone barbecue and a table on the verandah, both ready and waiting for long summer evening dinners.

Although the Andalusian climate means that you'll inevitably try and spend as much time outside as possible, the home's interior is sure to impress when you finally get around to heading inside. There's definitely a traditional feel to the design, with terracotta tiles underfoot, wooden finishes and whitewashed walls. The double-aspect glass doors in the living space are also particularly generous when it comes to natural light, too.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the local area, there's a great choice of small towns and villages that lie a short drive away from the home, including Algarrobo ten minutes' drive away. There are larger cities within easy reach too, such as Malaga itself only forty minutes away by car.

Once you're feeling energised and ready to explore, jump in the car to make the short drive to one of the area's beautiful beaches. Peñoncillo is a popular choice as it's perfect for swimming thanks to milder waves. Wherever you end up, Torrox is the perfect place for beach hopping, due to having warm temperatures all year round. 

Once you've had your fill of sun, sea and sand, pick up some fresh ingredients and head home to fire up the barbecue. Tuck into an alfresco feast then grab a glass of wine and get comfy on one of the sun loungers, which are conveniently positioned facing the horizon, meaning you have uninterrupted views of the sun setting over the ocean each night.
