Blessed with a peaceful position in the Andalusian countryside, this rustic home is nearly two centuries old and if anything, it's getting more charming as the years go on.

The main reason for this is the way that the hosts find a balance between retaining period features with adding more contemporary amenities. Behind the home's whitewashed walls, you'll see wooden ceiling beams and a traditional fireplace, but also a modern kitchen and equally glossy bathrooms.

Given the local climate, you will probably want to spend as many waking hours in the open air as possible and there are plenty of ways to do just that across the ten-hectare site. Not only is the swimming pool especially cooling on hot afternoons, but it also looks out over sweeping views of local hillsides. If you're ever in need of a little shade, there's lots of space to sit and relax beneath the leafy pergola, too.

The address sure does feel secluded and the nearest village – Cómpeta – is just over two kilometres away, offering a small selection of shops and restaurants. A little further afield, the coastline lies about 20 kilometres away and there's a great selection of beaches from which to pick.

Those looking for a remote retreat need look no further than this rustic mountain home, situated inland from the bustling shores of the Costa del Sol. Spread over a single level, the home flows from room to room with elegant archways separating the spaces. The grounds are the real highlight and have been designed to make the most of the enviable Mediterranean climate and breathtaking views. Although it can’t quite compare to the breathtaking vistas of the rolling hills of Málaga, and the Mediterranean beyond, you can get the best of both views by sitting out on the terrace. Covered, the patio also offers a welcome break from the sun whilst still enjoying the mild heat the region is known for. If you’re up for a swim, duck out through the arch and make a splash into the pool whilst the food is grilling away on the barbecue. 

Rustic and homely inside, you might retreat to one of the bedrooms for a nap after enjoying a Mediterranean feast. Wake up to the aroma of freshly-brewed coffee and enjoy it in the shade of the umbrella out by the patio furniture.

Days away can be spent at any of the two closest beaches – both are only a short drive away – or take a road trip and explore more of Costa del Sol and Málaga. Golfing enthusiasts can also head to the nearest course and anyone wanting to get up close and personal with the native foliage might check out the many hiking trails around the area.

Now, the leaving might be difficult given how gorgeous this little home is. With doors opening from the bedroom, as well as the lounge, onto the terrace, you’ll feel that constant connection to the outdoors – and given the mild, spring temperature of Torrox all year round, you’ll have every excuse to spend all of your time out there. 

Couples can bond over alfresco breakfasts, curl up on the couch to watch a romantic movie or spend evenings stargazing from the hot tub, whilst those on a solo trip might take advantage of the peace and quiet to catch up on their reading. This stunning Andalusian villa is the perfect getaway for a holiday with your loved ones. The interior of the home is very nicely designed, but it’s the exterior we’re most enthusiastic about.
