This solar-powered home will be a welcome sight for anyone in search of a traditional Spanish stay with spectacular views. Located in Jubrique, you’ll need to travel a little further afield to find the nearest beach (28 kilometres away), but it's just a short drive to local amenities with easy access to beautiful hiking trails. The decor might be a little dated, but we think most of your time will be spent outdoors – soaking in the scenery from the swimming pool or whilst swaying in a hammock.

With its rustic interiors, tranquil garden and bucolic surroundings, this cosy villa is ideal for a family or group of friends looking to switch off and seriously relax. Inside the home, exposed stone and tiled floors help keep things cool on long, hot afternoons. Wake up feeling well-rested in the unfussy bedrooms then put together a breakfast spread in the farmhouse-style kitchen – we particularly loved the soothing cobalt and turquoise blue tones. 

Head outside for a sunbathing session on one of the loungers or make a beeline for the inviting pool. When lunchtime rolls around, grill locally sourced produce on the barbecue and dine all together on the shaded terrace. If exploring sounds like a good idea, drive the 29 kilometres to Sabinillas Beach before heading into the quaint village of Manilva. Should you fancy a little more hustle and bustle, glamorous Marbella makes for a fantastic day trip destination. 

This Time Tomorrow

Tucked away in the charming village of Gaucín, this two-level Andalusia home is ideal for couples seeking relaxation and a scenic background. Here you'll step out of the living room and be greeted by the inviting alfresco dining area and pool, where you can soak up the sun and admire the awe-inspiring mountain views. Located on a resort on the outskirts of Estepona, this apartment lies in a private village with a plethora of communal facilities to make your stay special. Choose from water sports in the lagoon, taking a dip in the communal pool, dining at one of the beach restaurants or unwinding in the shared saunas and Jacuzzis. Even if you're staying indoors, there's space in the garden for sunbathing and in the sunroom for enjoying a home-cooked meal. Inside, the place is simple yet functional, and while the bedrooms are basic, they’re certainly comfortable.

From your doorstep, you can explore the warren of picture-perfect streets in this historic coastal city, packed with restaurants and bars galore. Up on the third floor, there’s quite the view from the private balcony – over the rooftops to the sea. If you’re not using the double sofa bed in the living room, it feels pretty spacious inside with a full kitchen for all your self-catering needs. The added bonus is the shared rooftop pool at the top of the building and access to a shared gym, sauna and lounge.

Boasting an on-site gym, shared swimming pool, access to the beach, on-site restaurants and children’s area – not to mention, sweeping views of the Andalusian mountains – this place has everything you need for an unforgettable stay. 

You’ll have your own apartment and garden to yourself here, meaning there’s plenty of indoor and outdoor space for kicking back and relaxing with your fellow guests. Rustle up a tapas feast in the fully equipped kitchen then head outside and dine alfresco as you gaze out at the glistening sea on the horizon. Or, if waterside dining’s more your thing, why not get dressed up and head out for an evening meal by the lagoon? After all, that view’s not going to admire itself. 

We can’t imagine getting bored here but if you fancy a change of scenery, there’s plenty to keep you busy nearby. Practise your swing at Estepona Golf, hike through the Sierra Crestellina Natural Area, or change into your swimming trunks and go for a swim at Playa de Guadalobón. This immaculate apartment just four kilometres from the golden shores of Estepona had us on that vast sea-facing terrace alone. And that was before we'd even clapped eyes on the palm-strewn shared pools and turquoise-blue lagoon at the apartment complex's heart. 

Inside, the apartment is fresh and inviting, with bright pops of colour keeping everything uplifting. And you'll love how light-filled the bedrooms feel, each with its own bathroom for a little extra privacy. 

But it's the dizzying array of shared facilities to rival a five-star hotel that's getting us hot under the collar. Get your mornings off to an adrenaline-fuelled start at the lagoon (100 metres away) for paddle boarding, windsurfing and general splashing about. Back on dry land, kids can try wall climbing with an on-site instructor while you bank a workout in the gym. And when it's time to get back together and relax, the shared swimming pools and hot tubs are ready and waiting.

When thoughts turn to food, you can always zip back upstairs to the apartment for alfresco lunch on that sublime terrace. But if you'd rather not cook, the on-site restaurants overlooking the lagoon are just the ticket. Or head down to Estepona seafront for a sunset meal – there's a chiringuito with a table on the sand waiting just for you.

Post-dinner, enjoy a relaxing bubble bath in the freestanding tub, then take a seat on the balcony to enjoy the warm evening breeze with a glass of wine.

Taken in and of itself, we'd be quite impressed by this ground-floor apartment in Estepona. The huge windows and glass doors let in ample amounts of Andalusian sunshine, an asset that's only accentuated by the bright colour palette that rarely veers away from whites and neutrals. We've only got kind words for the minimalist kitchen, as well as the similarly chic bedrooms and bathrooms that also cut out unnecessary accoutrements. To top it all off, there's a private garden in which to catch some rays during summer afternoons.

However, what really sets this home apart from others is the incredible communal amenities available throughout the rest of the resort. Across ten acres of landscaped grounds, you'll find everything from a lagoon with its own sandy beach and a pair of restaurants to a sauna, hot tubs and a well-equipped gym.

Although you could just as easily keep yourself entertained without ever having to leave the site, it would be a crying shame given the wealth of attractions to be discovered in the surrounding Costa del Sol. Estepona's town centre and beach are only 4km away, while there's a huge number of golf courses easily reached by car.

It's Going to be a Good Day

Purpose-built for rentals, there aren't a lot of soft furnishings here and it's not the most soulful home. But there's a range of communal amenities to keep you entertained whether you're travelling as a family or friends, with two large swimming pools – one indoors so you can swim whatever the weather – and a well-equipped gym. La Rada Beach can be reached on foot, but there's free parking on the premises so you don't have to rely on public transport.

Located in Arcos de la Frontera, this charming villa offers the chance to explore one of Spain’s lesser-known towns. It’s got a cosy country vibe inside, with everything you need to feel right at home. Large windows lead out onto a sunny garden with a covered terrace and a private swimming pool. Boasting spectacular south-facing views of the Mediterranean sea, enjoy the serene scapes come night or daytime. Balancing indoor and outdoor living couldn't be easier here as bi-fold doors bring the outside in and extend the living area out onto the patio. So relax by the pool on the day beds or perch with a book in the shade on one of the plush sofas. 

We love the clean lines and blue and white colour scheme seen throughout the villa, which offers a soothing space to relax in style. Underfloor heating carried across the main rooms during the slightly chillier months will keep your toes warm. Meanwhile, premium quality entertainment features, including Sonos speakers, Apple TV, and the decked-out kitchen, will keep you occupied even if the sun isn't shining outside. 
There's also an a second lounge hang-out area in the basement of the home, which could be used as a gaming room or extra living space for the children. 

Since you'll be just a fifteen-minute drive away from Marbella and Fuengirola, there's plenty to see and do beyond the villa too. You'll also be within an easy ten minutes walking distance of Cabopino's protected dunes and marina, ideal for a stroll or dining out at one of the many seafront restaurants. Not to mention Luna Beach, which is only 500 metres away and an idyllic spot for watching the sunset over drinks and live music at the local beach restaurant and cocktail bar.
