Inside, we love the open-plan living space with its double-height ceiling, and the Juliet balconies make the area light and bright. You're bound to hear some city noise here, but with such a great address as this, we think it's a small price to pay.

As you walk in through the front door, we guarantee the first thing that will grab your attention are the stunning views out through the floor-to-ceiling windows that take up one corner of the living space. It's a wonderful panorama, taking in everything from the Mediterranean Sea and Malagan rooftops to the region's hilltops in the distance. 

With eye-catching scenery such as this outside, the designer behind this apartment might have been tempted to phone it in with the interior, but you can tell that clearly didn't happen. Malagueta Beach is only a short car ride away, but if you’d prefer to cool off at home, make a beeline for the plunge pool on the private terrace. Just a heads up, there isn't much storage space here, so you may want to pack light. Plus, there isn't an oven here, only a hob – though we think you’ll do most of your eating out at the restaurants on your doorstep.

Loaded with history and brimming with a youthful vigour that proudly acknowledges its multifaceted past, the city that bore Picasso boasts the ancient Alcazaba, the craggy Castillo de Gibralfaro, a radically re-designed port and nascent art district, not to mention cool cafes and tempting tapas.

After a jam-packed day of sightseeing and socialising, you’ll be in need of a little guaranteed R & R. The apartment is spread over two floors so there’s plenty of space – it’s an ideal option for couples travelling together. It’s stylish and comfortable, with everything you might need. The crowning jewel is undoubtedly the private roof terrace, where we’d be spending most of our time. Begin your day with fruit juice and pastries in the fresh air, drinking in the view of the cathedral and the city’s rooftops. Perhaps after visiting a museum or gallery, you’ll head back to doze on a sun lounger, revelling in the outdoor space. In the evenings, sip cocktails as the sun starts to set, and dine under the stars. You’ll never want to leave.

It's worth noting that two guests will be sleeping on a double sofa bed and you won’t find enough space for eight around the dining table. With that in mind, we recommend it for a maximum of six people.

This practical apartment is located in the heart of Malaga's historic centre, just a stone's throw away from tourist hotspots such as Calle Larios, Plaza de la Constitución, and the Picasso and Thyssen Museums. While it’s not the most characterful pad in our collection, a sofa bed in the living area offers flexible sleeping arrangements, and the Juliet balcony in the main bedroom is a nice touch too. The kitchenette is a little basic for our liking, but given the home’s stellar spot, you’ll find plenty of restaurants, bars and shops nearby, offering a true taste of Malagan living.

Located only a five-minute walk away from Malaga town centre, this bright home overlooking a vibrant street also has a view of the beautiful 15th century San Juan church. Seeing its baroque tower is reason enough to spend big chunks of time out on the balcony, but we’ll give you a couple more anyway. For one, romantic dinners could be had by candlelight as the stars come alive up above. The balcony also makes for a great reading spot for bookworms wanting to spend some time on their own with a freshly brewed coffee and a holiday romance novel. 

Come inside through the traditional Andalusian floor-to-ceiling doors to admire the exposed beams and vaulted ceilings as you sink into the sofa. Grab a bite in the compact kitchenette before handling a few work emails at the little workstation and head out after to explore the beautiful city. The Alcazaba fortress with lush gardens and a sea view is only a ten minute walk away. Stop off there for a backdrop to the perfect holiday group photos and head to the beach after for salty surf and sandy beaches.

This beautiful townhouse in the centre of Malaga has seen the city change over the centuries. From the doorstep, you can step into the warren of atmospheric old streets that make up the historic city centre, yet the beach is just a five-minute stroll away. Four floors of antique furniture and southern Spanish charm greet you on arrival and the Moorish-style kitchen certainly caught out eye. The crowning glory has to be the private terrace, looking out over the rooftops of the city, dappled with greenery and home to a bar area, day bed, dining spot and lounge seating.
