Inside, the home is bathed in natural light courtesy of the generous arched windows – which we love, by the way, with the shape and floral decoration adding so much character to the living area. White walls, dark wooden beams and mosaic tiles, so befitting of the local area, run through the remainder of the inside space, giving the home a personality of its own. Picture cosy evenings spent here, the fire crackling and casting an amber glow around the room as you get stuck into a good book, tucked up on the comfortable leather sofa. 

Outdoors, this home really sparks into life. The split-level terraces mean you have a selection of places to take in the beautiful view across Frigiliana as far as the beaches of Nerja. Lazy days relaxing on a lounger with the sun’s rays warming your skin as you soak up those vistas will never get old. If the heat becomes a little stifling, cool off in your private pool before lighting the barbecue and settling down to an alfresco meal with loved ones. You'll also find fresh eggs at the henhouse that you can select for free – meaning there should always be something available for breakfast in the morning.

The villa can be found in Competa in Andalucia, and boasts views of the mountains of Azarquia. From the terrace, there’s a partial sea view – the views here really are spectacular. Vineyards, olive groves and almond trees surround the home and add to the pretty scenery, making it feel deliciously secluded.

Finally, there's a built-in brick oven for cooking your food over fire.

Given the location, you're looking at a minimum of a forty-minute drive to reach the authentic Andalusian town of Vélez-Málaga, or the charming former fishing village of Nerja. So we say stock up on essentials, embrace the solitude and enjoy a week or two to completely disconnect – you'd be surprised how exhausting doing nothing can be.

We love that Las Dunas Beach is just 100 metres away, where restaurants line the promenade. There's also a free parking spot on-site, so how about planning a road trip along the Costa del Sol? Alternatively, your host can help arrange fun boat charters.

A Moment to Remember

Hidden away in Andalusia's mountainous interior, this villa is blessed with some incredible views of Spanish hillsides and the uninterrupted skyline. As you might hope, there are plenty of spots from which you can drink in this beautiful panorama, including a swimming pool and a sunken hot tub positioned right at the edge of the glass-walled terrace.

As if that wasn't enough, the dining table on the verandah is sure to be the scene for merry dinners that stretch long into the night – perhaps with dishes served straight off the barbecue. There's even a ping pong table just in case you brought your competitive side with you.

Probably quite sensibly, the home's interior doesn't attempt to better the stunning natural surroundings and lies on the minimalist side. That being said, it's plain to see that care and attention have gone into the design, particularly the sleek kitchen and the cosy fireplace that sits in the corner of the living room.

The local town of Árchez is only three minutes away in the car and offers a handful of restaurants and the start of a hiking trail. If it's outdoor excursions you're after, the vast Sierras de Tejeda National Park starts just five minutes' drive away and will please hikers and climbers with the wealth of routes and scenic points. On the other end of the scale, the golden sands of Playa de la Caleta de Vélez are a thirty-five-minute drive away.
