Live like a local in this apartment in the Puente de Vallecas district. This place caught our eye due to its large roof terrace with its views over the neighbourhood’s streets. There’s room for dining and sunbathing here, while there’s a distinctly stylish Nordic aesthetic indoors. One of the beds is in the living room behind a room divider, and at full capacity, another two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the lounge too, which may not suit everyone. Though not in the centre, this area has a young vibe and good travel connections – Puerta del Sol is a direct twenty-minute metro ride away, while the Royal Palace is under thirty minutes.

Minutes away from the heart of Madrid, this minimalist apartment is ideal as a base for explorers. Because it isn't the most soulful, it might not be for everyone. But if you're planning on seeing all the great city has to offer, you might not be home all that often anyway. Still, it's comfortable and has enough space for everyone, even with two guests sleeping on the sofa bed in the living space. It's worth noting you'll be opposite a stadium, so it can get noisy.

This pocket-sized aparthotel suite outside the city centre doesn’t have many bells and whistles, but its proximity to public transport means you can easily reach Madrid’s most famous sights with ease and return to a base away from the tourist crowds. Given its compact size, using the sofa bed would make it a tight squeeze, but couples or solo travellers will find it a comfortable fit. There’s a coffee machine on hand and a desk space too – ideal for corporate travellers – and while there isn’t a kitchen here, you’ll find a selection of restaurants and bars just beyond your door.

Minimal, practical, and with a handy sofa bed to accommodate a third and fourth guest, you’ll have all you need for your city break. There’s parking available here, though we suggest hopping on the metro to best explore the city.

You’ll find this compact studio apartment a five-minute walk from the Nueva Numancia Metro Station, connecting you to Madrid’s best-loved sights in less than thirty minutes. It's not in the centre, so we think it suits those wanting a quieter stay away from the tourist hotspots. While this pad can accommodate four guests, we’d recommend a maximum of two, as once the sofa bed is in use, there’s not much space for socialising. The kitchen is well-equipped for a studio, but if you’d prefer to head out for dinner, there are plenty of restaurants on the doorstep.

Another fabulous use of light comes from the shuttered windows to your private balcony. With three sets of rich, wooden folding doors, you can step out to the railings with a glass of tempranillo after supper to watch the city light up at nightfall. With decorative, gilded bed frames in the sumptuous bedrooms, you’ll even feel stylish while you sleep. Rest up well, because you’ve got some exploring to do the next morning – the three galleries of the Art Walk are all less than fifteen minutes away.

After the plates are cleared, plan your itinerary at the dining table. We recommend starting with the Royal Palace, a mere ten-minute walk from your doorstep. If you’d like to stretch your legs a little further, it’s a thirty-minute stroll to El Retiro Park. Pause for a coffee on the buzzing Calle Cava Baja before picking a spot to bask in the sunshine beside El Retiro Lake.

The most remarkable thing about Espinas is the quiet. Despite having three balconies, and being in the middle of Lavapiés, the street it looks onto is actually fairly calm. The building is old, and a lot of the original structure features prominently in the flat, which has been designed to complement the space, rather than dominate it. There is some pretty loud wallpaper though, which stops the design from falling into the dreaded ‘neutral’ category.

You couldn’t get closer to Madrid’s leafy El Retiro Park – it’s situated on an idyllic street that leads right off the park itself. Look out your window for luscious tree views or walk a few steps and you’ll be surrounded by roses in The Rosaleda. 
 
As you walk into the open-plan space, you’ll immediately be struck by the dazzling amount of natural light pouring in through the wall of windows. Curated with a modern eye for design, the living area sets a striking impression with its glossy red kitchen and statement, ash blue wall. Make yourself comfortable on the plump sofa or armchair with a cold cerveza after a day of sightseeing, before sinking into the serene-hued bedroom for a restful night’s sleep, leaving you feeling refreshed and ready for another day of city exploring. 

Speaking of sightseeing, while away an afternoon exploring the National Archaeological Museum, a fourteen-minute stroll from your door. For a culinary endeavour, seek out a tapas dinner – your neighbouring streets are lined with authentic restaurants.

Prado Museum is the same walking distance if you fancy a spot of culture, while Paseo de Recoletos, with its impressive trees and sculptures, as well as historic cafes, is fifteen minutes on foot.

After all that exploring, whip up a fresh glass of orange juice with the juicer in the kitchen and have a rest on your private balcony. We love this space with its verdant topiaries and views over the district – it's perfect for an alfresco lunch or dinner. Inside, large windows allow light to flood in. This place has plenty of mod cons, such as electric closing windows and chromotherapy showers. We’d say this home is ideal for business professionals, a family or a group of friends.

Located in one of Madrid's most charming neighbourhoods, the Barrio de las Letras –  step outside and you'll discover terrific restaurants, trendy bars, and little boutiques. It is noisy, but you're in the heart of the action here. Wander over to El Retiro Park, perfect for getting away from the city with a picnic in the park, and a stroll around the art in the 19th Century Crystal Palace. Chueca, famous for its active nightlife and wonderful vintage tapas bars, is a great place to experience Spanish nightlife. Most importantly, before hitting the bars, seek out a quaint restaurant for delightful tapas. This is all achievable due to the transport links that you can easily tour the entire city with.

From the open-plan living area to the breakfast bar, ideal for cooking up some morning delights. Light colours prevail with a splash of colour, adding elegance to the design and unique furnishings. The bedrooms are spacious and cheerful, thanks to large windows that let in plenty of natural light. This fantastic duplex apartment has an entrance next to Retiro Park, in a relatively quiet area of the bustling city. El Retiro translates as “Park of the Pleasant Retreat”, and this home offers exactly that. 

We would love to spend some time every day here strolling around the beautiful Retiro Park which used to belong to the Spanish Monarchy until it was opened up to the public to enjoy in the late nineteenth century. Wander through the green space, admiring the fountains and statues of Spaniards before taking a break in one of the open-air cafes. 

Hop on public transport to explore even more sights and attractions of Madrid, including the Plaza Mayor – reachable in twenty-nine minutes. Then, after a busy day, dine at one of the restaurants in the neighbourhood which are within a four-minute walk. Or, enjoy a tapas meal together at home before retiring to the sofa in the cosy living room nook with a glass of sangria.

You’re a five-minute walk from the Museo Nacional del Prado, less than fifteen from the sprawling Retiro Park and twenty from the Royal Palace. When all of that exploring works up a hunger, check out your neighbourhood’s impressive culinary scene. Find a tapas bar for a tipple and a bite to eat or try out international cuisine in sleek dining rooms.

Despite being located in the heart of Malasaña, Autumn Jungle is tucked away on a quiet street. Walking to Plaza Mayor or Palacio Real will be a breeze, but the nearby streets of Madrid's trendiest neighbourhood will have you stopping in art galleries and cosy bars along the way. This is a well-executed home with curated artwork, where special attention has been given to the details. It might not be the biggest home in our collection, but it has a pleasant, bohemian chic vibe that fits in perfectly in the spirit of Malasaña.

Located just outside Plaza Mayor’s arches, this ideally located apartment is the perfect base for those looking to soak up Madrid's vibrant, buzzing centre. 

Blending rustic charm with stylish modern accents, this home feels wonderfully Spanish. We love the exposed beamed ceilings and the wood floors, as well as the houseplants and colourful rug in the living area that add additional characterful flair. 
 
The bedroom is elegantly pared back, offering a comfortable night’s sleep, while the dining area invites celebratory homemade tapas feasts when you’re not out sampling the local dining scene. 
 
Our favourite spot, however, is the private balcony with its wide-sweeping views over the city’s rooftops. Enjoy an alfresco breakfast here while catching some morning rays or watch the sunset from your privileged position over an evening glass of Spanish wine. 
 
When you’re ready to venture out for some sightseeing, you’ll find Plaza Mayor less than a minute’s walk away, while bustling Puerta del Sol is a four-minute stroll from your door. Elsewhere, the Royal Palace of Madrid is a ten-minute walk, the famous Museo Nacional del Prado is an eighteen-minute stroll, while leafy El Retiro Park is just over twenty minutes away on foot.

This apartment is located in the sought-after Salamanca neighbourhood, known for its designer shopping, fine-dining restaurants, and nightlife. For culture, there’s the Lázaro Galdiano Museum, a short walk away, while the National Archaeological Museum is also within walking distance. This stylish home is set over two floors and has an open-plan living area ideal for entertaining. This fabulous three-bedroom apartment is stylishly decorated throughout and brimming with character. The open-plan living room has lovely high ceilings, beautiful period windows, and a bright and airy feel. The bedrooms might not be the largest bedrooms we've ever seen, but they all have a lovely, calming feel and do the job just fine. We also love all the original paintings  throughout the home - this host has style!

Yellow Brushwork

Blue Torito is a chilled-out home located in one of the liveliest parts of Madrid. Even though it sports a gentle colour palette, it uses patterns and textures to give it a bit more spunk. From woven carpets to the textured headboards, it's apparent that the hosts like playing with details. The design is somewhat lacking a coherent theme, but Blue Torito is still a solid, bright, and comfortable choice, with access to a resident-only pool and terrace.
