This Caleta beachfront penthouse is calling all sun-worshippers. It’s an apartment that’s spread over two floors and boasts a marvellous terrace with sea views, in a neighbourhood jam-packed with restaurants and bars. Pedregalejo is just 5 km from the centre of Malaga, so you can easily pop into the city when you’re craving the bright lights and hustle and bustle. For the rest of your stay, though, you can enjoy the seaside setting of this charm-filled home. 

In the morning you’ll wake up to sea views and want to head straight outside. Make a cup of coffee in the light open-plan kitchen and living space then take the stairs up to the terrace – it’s where we’d want to spend all of our time. You can soak up the sunshine while drinking in the view, moving under the shade of an umbrella when the Spanish sun really starts to sizzle. Maybe you’ll stroll to the beach to cool off in the calm, clear water? You can be building sandcastles at Playa de las Acacias in no time. 

Nothing beats alfresco dining when you’re feeling sun-kissed and relaxed. As the sun begins to set, fire up the barbecue on the terrace and pour a glass of wine. Dine under the stars on fresh seafood and grilled veggies. Absolute bliss.

Located a fifteen-minute walk from the Centro Histórico, this apartment is perfect for first-time travellers or repeat visitors. Malagueta Beach is only a short car ride away, but if you’d prefer to cool off at home, make a beeline for the plunge pool on the private terrace. Just a heads up, there isn't much storage space here, so you may want to pack light. Plus, there isn't an oven here, only a hob – though we think you’ll do most of your eating out at the restaurants on your doorstep.

You'll also be a stone's throw away from some of the city's best restaurants. Back at this apartment, enjoy a tinto de verano on the small balcony. Of course, you will hear some city noise due to this home's superb location, but that's to be expected, right?

That said, with the nearest beach only 2km away, you might want to spend most of your time there.

Tranquil Gibralfaro

Location-wise, this apartment in the cultural Centro Histórico absolutely nails it. Not only are historical sites, restaurants and beaches all within walking distance, but you're only a quick stroll from the 15th-century Santo Domingo de Guzman Church and some of Malaga’s most famous landmarks. The Interactive Music Museum and Picasso Museum can be reached within minutes, while the golden sands of Playa la Malagueta are just a little further – about a twenty-minute walk.

When you're not out exploring, unwind from the day's adventures in your Andalusian oasis. With the floor-to-ceiling doors open and the sun shining through, it's the definition of relaxation. Located only a five-minute walk away from Malaga town centre, this bright home overlooking a vibrant street also has a view of the beautiful 15th century San Juan church. Seeing its baroque tower is reason enough to spend big chunks of time out on the balcony, but we’ll give you a couple more anyway. For one, romantic dinners could be had by candlelight as the stars come alive up above. The balcony also makes for a great reading spot for bookworms wanting to spend some time on their own with a freshly brewed coffee and a holiday romance novel. 

Come inside through the traditional Andalusian floor-to-ceiling doors to admire the exposed beams and vaulted ceilings as you sink into the sofa. The Alcazaba fortress with lush gardens and a sea view is only a ten minute walk away. The second is this apartment's roof terrace (reached via a spiral staircase) with views over the city's rooftops and churches – the perfect spot for cocktails. Inside, we love the open-plan living space with its double-height ceiling, and the Juliet balconies make the area light and bright. You're bound to hear some city noise here, but with such a great address as this, we think it's a small price to pay.
