Though the interior style here might not be everyone's cup of tea, it's certainly comfortable and well-kept. There are also plenty of breakout spaces for guests to stretch out and relax, but our favourite aspect here is the outdoors. A private pool can be found surrounded by a lush green garden. There's also ample seating and a barbecue area. Location-wise, you're a short drive from the medieval structures of Valencia.

Here's one for all you beach lovers out there. Perched in the authentic seaside town of Oliva and just a five-minute drive to some of the coast's prettiest beaches, you couldn't dream up a better spot to base yourself for a sun, sea, and sand escape.

Spend your days hopping between the beaches and mooching about Oliva's history-rich streets and weekly market. Or, for a spot of culture and a slap-up dinner out, jump ship to the enticing traditional fishing town of Dénia (just a twenty-minute drive).

Smack bang in the heart of delightful Dénia, this no-fuss apartment is perfect for couples or solo travellers looking for some rest and relaxation on the Costa Blanca. Inside, the place strikes a balance between comfort and function. There’s a compact kitchen equipped for quick meals and a quiet bedroom to ensure a peaceful sleep night after night. But it was the view that was our favourite part. We could’ve spent hours on that modular chair, watching the palm trees sway and the boats to and fro from the harbour, only breaking our gaze to open a bottle of Rioja as the sun sets. Spend mornings exploring your locale – you’re a ten-minute walk from the Dénia Castle and eighteen minutes from the Marineta Casiana Beach. If you’re feeling curious, take the twenty-minute drive to Parc Natural del Montgó for stunning hiking routes or catch the ferry from the port to the dazzling Balearic Islands.

This spacious and well-located villa is a good option for a family or group of friends wanting to holiday in Denia, Costa Blanca. There's a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable living room area to relax in – albeit a little dated in terms of decor. Equipped for all seasons, there's a fireplace for cooler evenings and air conditioning for the summer months. We love the lawned gardens surrounding this family-friendly home – they boast superb sea and mountain views and include a large private pool and BBQ area too. While you can explore the local area on foot, we suggest a car for ease – Parc Natural del Montgó is less than 2km from the villa.

This seaside haven in the heart of Javea Port is our kind of heaven. Tucked away and yet mere moments from La Grava beach, this ground floor two-bedroom home is pure boho-beach chic. Featuring a lovely, light filled open plan kitchen cum dining and living room, courtesy of floor to ceiling sliding glass doors which open out onto a cosy courtyard, this artful home boasts both style and substance. Nods to the nautical meet whitewashed walls and windows shutters while brand spanking new cabinetry meets worn wooden furniture, woven basket lights and colourful framed prints. 

Undoubtedly the star of the show, however, is the interior courtyard, with its traditional Tosca stone walls and Spanish style tiled floor – the perfect relaxing retreat come morning, noon or night. You’ll love rising early to catch the sunrise before taking your morning coffee out into the courtyard. Host cook offs and gather around the dining table for sociable meal times or head out for hours of sun-baked fun at the beach before meandering along to one of the many local seaside cafes for fresh food and uninterrupted Mediterranean views.

Sure, this apartment in the heart of Javea might be a little simple when it comes to interior design, but people don't come to this corner of Spain to be wowed by home decor – not when there's a wealth of exemplary beaches, hiking routes and seafront restaurants that lie within easy walking distance to explore. That's not to say you'll dread returning home, however. For instance, the balcony – while small – has a rather charming view of the town's port and the Mediterranean Sea stretching into the distance.

This apartment is nestled on the coast of the historic Javea, a short walk from the sea. The central location means parking will be tricky, but you'll be close to public transport. You'll want to pack light here – the home is small, but has everything needed for a fuss-free stay. We especially like the private balcony, which offers natural light and enough space to sit out with a drink. If you want a base for exploring the town and coastline, you can't get much closer to the action.

If you have someone keen to show off their culinary skills, the well-equipped kitchen allows you to rustle up a delicious meal – take it out to your terrace with a glass of sangria and enjoy your food alfresco as the Spanish sun warms your skin. With tropical gardens all around you, days can be well spent with a trip to the communal pool where you can take a refreshing dip or simply lie back on a sun lounger, close your eyes and listen to the breeze dancing through the palm trees. Offering a private pool, hammock and alfresco seating, you can take your pick of outdoor spots from which to enjoy the panoramic views of the Alicante countryside. With plenty of open green space, the kids have somewhere to run around while the adults relax nearby. Close to the historic centre of Jávea Old Town, narrow streets offer a great family day out, but if you’d like to visit the beautiful Arenal beach then a car is recommended.

This simple, fuss-free apartment is an ideal retreat for a coastal family getaway. It may not be the biggest, but it’s well-equipped and comfortable, with the sun-drenched balcony an added bonus. For some respite from the Costa Blanca sun, the communal swimming pool is a welcome sight, framed by towering palm trees. If you prefer not to drive, a car’s not essential here. A short walk from the apartment and you’ll find a selection of shops and restaurants, or for a stroll on sandy shores, Platja de l'Arenal beach is just 800 metres away.

Located on Spain’s eastern coast, in the illustrious and historic city of Gandia, lies this apartment offering the best of city living and a coastal retreat. Open up the large windows as you fire off some project notes at the desk before tucking into a slice of Tortilla Espanola at the breakfast bar. This is a tranquil space, with a plump sofa for sharing sangria and conversations and a large dining table for enjoying tapas dinners. We think a car will allow you to make the most of your location, though you’ll have to find street parking. From soaking up the sun from Platja de Daimús, perusing the boutiques and sipping cocktails around one of the plazas to discovering the 15th-century Los Borja Ducal Palace, this is an idyllic setting to experience Gandia.

Though prepare to tussle for the primary bedroom with a ginormous freestanding bath in the en-suite and garden views to boot.

Wake up each morning to Costa Blanca sunshine in this contemporary pad. With windows overlooking Javea and the surrounding mountains, the views will be front and centre as soon as you open your eyes. Start the day with breakfast, which is best served alfresco alongside a steaming mug of Café con Leche on one of the upstairs terraces. 

Later on, after a quick dip in the communal pool, relish in the fresh air on the downstairs balcony – we think it's the perfect spot to enjoy a chilled drink and tapas at twilight. Head inside for a Spanish feast prepared by the chef of the group using ingredients from the seafood market down by the wharf – perhaps paella will be on the cards.

Speaking of location, this apartment is halfway between Platja Primer Muntanyar's rocky shore and the livelier Platja de l'Arenal. Both are home to waterfront eateries, but Arenal's soft sand and array of restaurants and bars is sure to be a hit. Whether you fancy stargazing, sunbathing or snorkelling in the hidden coves up down the coast, this central locale has fun in the sun written all over it.
