This region is well known for its fishing, and those keen to catch their own dinner will be delighted by the prospects available here. The home itself is large and comfortable, designed to be used by families, with plenty of space and simple, modern furnishings. The Kasnäs area is geared towards relaxation and pleasure, boasting world-class spa services and sporting amenities, just a few minutes away from your cabin. In the peak season, the community hosts sports and nature events, encouraging everyone to get involved. Of course, if you'd rather enjoy a low-key getaway in these scenic surroundings, who could blame you?

The Siren

Set on one of the tiny islands in the Hitis archipelago, this wooden cabin is about as Nordic as you can get. Best enjoyed in summer, the spot is moments from the Baltic sea and the sandy beach, where brave souls throw themselves in for a dip on warmer days. If that's not quite your style, hire one of the boats and explore the stunning coastline. Built in 2019, the home is a taste of the simple life. Wooden walls are sparsely decorated, rather a few corners offer space to cuddle up. Curl up on the L-shaped sofa, sit back and soak up the sunshine on the small veranda or - for true Finnish style, the electric sauna in the bathroom is perfect for sweating it out. If you're after something more communal, there's also a wood-fire sauna closer to the water, which is shared with the surrounding homes.

Still Waters Edge

In amongst the trees and the sandy and rocky outcrops that make up the shoreline of Finland’s Baltic coast, this beautiful apartment is an oasis of thoroughly modern comfort in a place that really takes you back to nature. You won’t need to travel far to get the most out of the local amenities in Kasnäs, with indoor and outdoor pools, a gym, mini-golf, and tennis courts just 300 metres away. 

Baltic Bliss

For a peaceful summer holiday in Kasnäs where you can totally switch off, this home is Finnish perfection. There's a few other cabins around, but you're largely remote living. Surrounded by nature, you're practically on the lake, and have all the comforts of a contemporary home. You might expect lakeside living to be rustic, but the slatted white walls mixed with moody dark furniture and sporadic plants give living here a Scandi-chic element. Start your days with coffee on the private porch against the crisp air, before heading to the communal wood heated sauna and lounge by the lake. You can rent a boat and explore the area on water, while the shared barbecue area is the perfect place to meet like-minded travellers and soak in the island atmosphere over some dinner. Then settle in for the night, snug in your lakeside home. 

Lakeside Lakka

Go fully remote and get deep into the wood cabin vibes at this Finnish home. This lakefront house is surrounded by towering trees and scenic views, making this the perfect nature retreat to decompress and unwind. As if straight out of a movie set, the hanging chair, front yard patio, brick chimney and fire-engine-red exterior sets the picture-perfect scene. The interiors combine a mix of white furnishings with dark and light wood fixtures, maintaining the home’s rural identity. The country-chic kitchen is warmed by a traditional brick stove and the TV room is tucked away in a little nook. Enjoy a refreshing dip in the lake, diving off your own wooden jetty and drying off on loungers in the sun. Perhaps take the home’s boat for a spin and catch your own dinner for a barbecue on the front porch. Life out on the lake is serene, but if you crave a little civilisation, Somero town centre is 9km away, where you’ll find ice hockey rinks, bowling and plenty of local restaurants. 

Take The Boat Out

This cosy cabin is just a stone’s throw away from the rocky beaches of Kemiönsaari. You’ll be surrounded by nature, staying where the forest meets the sea in southern Finland. Kasnäs harbour is on your doorstep, where you can rent boats, catch the ferry to the other southern islands, and stock up at the small grocery shop. Start your morning with a cup of coffee on the wooded private porch, before heading out to spend a day by the lake. You’ll have a communal sauna and lounge at your disposal, plus a shared barbecue area that’s an ideal place to make a few friends. If going solo is more your vibe, the cabin has a private electric sauna, a sleek kitchen where you can make yourself some dinner and a picnic-style table in the dining area that's perfect for a snug family meal. 

Pebble Lake

This brand-new holiday cottage situated within a quiet resort on the shores of a lake makes for a lovely spot to enjoy a relaxed and restful stay. Surrounded by woodlands, steps away from the lakeside beach and close to the sea, this home will appeal to a family or a small group of friends wanting to escape the pressures of city living and experience closeness to nature. 

Arrive to be greeted by the cheerful wooden exterior set against lush greenery – out here you’ll be able to relax on the large terrace, with comfy seating and a luxurious hot tub and hydrotherapy. You can also organise delicious outdoor feasts with the aid of a barbecue grill and savour them at the dining table. 

Step inside to find a light-filled open-plan living room and kitchen, with a comfy sofa inviting you to kick back and relax gazing at the instantly calming lake views outside. There’s also a sauna here for those moments of self-pampering before you head off to the comfy bedroom for a night of restful sleep. Additional sleeping places are available up in the loft, although you’ll have to mind your head here! 

Wake up restored and start your day with a cup of freshly brewed coffee out on the patio and plan your adventures. There are a lot of water sports to be enjoyed on the lake, as well as plenty of gorgeous nature walks in the surrounding woods. Drive to the coast for some spectacular dunes and islands. 

Look Out On the Lake 

We're not in Kansas anymore, but rather Kasnäs, a picturesque village on one of the countless islets that make up the Hitis archipelago in southern Finland. The area has everything you might need for a relaxing holiday, from spa services and swimming pools to tennis courts and mini-golf. Go for a walk through the woods and settle with a picnic on the rocks by the water. Hop between islands via the ferry and play an 18-hole golf course on Kemiönsaari. Unwind in the community sauna, before retreating home. Inside your apartment, you'll find whitewashed timber-boarded interiors and contemporary furnishings that come together to create a cosy space. The kitchen is well equipped, but there's a shared barbecue available to use too if you'd prefer. Relax and enjoy your meal on the terrace, while taking in the calm and scenic setting. 

In a Lullaby

A stone’s throw away from the rocky beaches of Kemiönsaari, this snug home is perfect for a couple or small family. Start your day on the wooded private porch and just breathe in the crisp air, before walking to the lakeside for a day of fun in southern Finland. In the evening, sit by the fire pit and swap stories, or head indoors where comfortable furnishings, a sleek kitchen, and a chic blue and grey colour palette makes for a stylish holiday abode. 

Lake Escape

There’s a quiet beauty about Finland’s archipelago in the Baltic Sea. The largest collection of islands in the world (there are more than 20,000), a stay here guarantees an unhurried lifestyle by the lapping waves. And you’ll certainly get the chance to relax and recharge at this cute lakeside cabin in Kasnäs. Set right at the water’s edge with its own jetty, this home looks rustic and simple (bar the distinctive slick of red paint) from the outside. But inside you’ll find a contemporary space that looks more like it’s jumped out of the pages of an interior design magazine. We love the soft grey walls, the wood-and-metal furniture, the lush houseplants and bold geometric print soft furnishings. The open-plan living/dining space is particularly calming; it's flooded with light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows, which also give you wonderful views across the lake. Outside you’re lucky enough to have access to your own waterfront terrace, a semi-private beach, a shared barbecue pit and a sauna right by the lake. Here you only need concern yourself with the simple things. Where to go for dinner, what time to go for a swim and what drink to pour when six o'clock rolls around. Bliss.

Little Red On The Jetty

This cosy Finnish apartment would suit anyone looking for a true escape into nature. On the edge of the Hitis archipelago, there's much for sporty travellers to enjoy here, whether you want to discover the hiking trails or take a boat ride to the nearby islands.
