Situated in the charming village of Chantemerle, this apartment is just a three-minute walk from the gondola linking you to Serre Chevalier’s spectacular 250 kilometres of piste. There’s also a footpath, for all building residents, which leads to River Guisane – perfect for a stroll. In fact, the large living room overlooks a larch forest and the river beyond. We love the vistas of the piste from the southwest-facing balcony. If you need to work from home, there’s a workspace here too.

We're not sure if BBC sent you here, but if you want a closer look at Mulberry House's kitchen, look no further than Rick Stein’s 'Secret France' featuring the smiley host making a delicious meal here — and were absolutely expect your to try to recreate it! This is a typical French hilltop chateau, but this doesn't mean it's ordinary. The casually welcoming atmosphere is a product of modern furniture and restored period features, the kitchen being the best example of this harmony. Still, we expect you to spend much more time around this home than in it. With the huge pool that's perfect for a morning splash and the futuristic loungers around it, a gorgeous dining spot under the pergola, and a breezy back garden, there are plenty of spots to socialise or reflect in peace. The host team that looks after this home is always available to help and organise those extra touches that will make your stay even more special. Set in the countryside beyond the Côte d'Azur, this villa offers a tranquil escape for families and friends seeking a holiday in the South of France. There’s a flower-filled garden, a heated swimming pool, a covered poolside terrace and a balcony with vistas over the grounds. A trampoline will keep the kids entertained, too. Inside, the villa has a homely feel with traditional furnishings, and all of the bedrooms are en-suite. When you want to explore, the town of Valbonne is a short drive away, where you’ll find a weekly Provençal market. Cannes is also around a twenty-minute drive away, while many wonderful beaches can be easily reached.

If we could give a home a pass based on location alone, this address would undoubtedly get one. Not only does it sit within the Verdon National Park and a five-minute drive from the truffle markets of Aups, but it has a prime view of the mountain peaks of Massif des Maures.

Thankfully, the villa has a lot more riding in its favour other than this wonderful position. For starters, it really spoils guests when it comes to outdoor space. As well as a pair of terraces from which to admire the scenery, there's a huge garden complete with a petanque court, playground and a fountain to enjoy. Best of all, there's a swimming pool that offers a refreshing spot in which to relax during baking hot afternoons.

Once a sheepfold in a former life, the home itself is imbued with rustic charm, filled as it is with wooden ceiling beams, terracotta tiles and handsome antique furnishings. The main bathroom was once an old pigeon house – not something you get to write all that often – but today it's the very vision of relaxation with its cast iron bathtub.

When you're in the mood to see more of this beautiful landscape, there are ample walking routes in the surrounding national park, as well as opportunities for everything from climbing, paragliding, canoeing, rafting and horseback riding. The shores of Lake of Sainte-Croix are only a short drive away if you fancy pootling about in a boat or splashing about in the invitingly blue waters.

There are stunning views from this home with its heated pool, summer kitchen and alfresco dining spots. Once owned by the 8th Earl Spencer, there’s an impressive Provençal-style lounge (one of several) and we love the conservatory reading room with its idyllic vistas. Some of the bedrooms here have en-suites and some open out onto the terrace, while two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed at full capacity. Location-wise, this place is just a short walk from the local village and it's around a thirty-minute drive from the beaches of the French Riviera.

Formerly an olive farm, this villa was converted into an aristocrat’s home the 18th century, and has recently been restored to all its former grandeur, with some added modern comforts. It’s totally charming: the butter yellow exteriors are complimented by forest green shutters, and on one side there’s a tower rising three floors high. The interiors are typified by their old world charm: high ceilings, antique french tiled floors, duck egg blue curtains and oil paintings make the living space a cosy place to relax. The modern, fully renovated kitchen has two sliding glass doors leading to an al fresco table, which is the perfect spot to enjoy home cooked delights on sunny days. 

The villa is in a private and serene area on a hilltop, surrounded by two hectares of fragrant landscaped gardens, featuring numerous terraces, centennial olive trees, cypresses, and oleanders that lead up to a woodland. Wander down one of the paths to admire panoramic views of the Saint-Véran Forest, the Alps and the sea. 

Stroll fifteen minutes down to old Villeneuve-Loubet, a charming Provencal village for coffee and pastries in the morning, before coming home for a dip in the pool. On sunny days, hop in the car and drive fifteen minutes to your pick of sandy beaches along the coastline, before lunch at a seafront restaurant. You’ll want to make it back home for sunset, for drinks on the terrace as the land turns golden. On warm evenings, light the candles at the poolside table and enjoy dinner beneath the stars.

That would be a shame, as it's a charming home – spread over three floors, you can easily find a spot to tuck yourself away with a glass of red. The outdoor areas shine here – along with the pool, you'll find a boules court and garden seating areas, while the al fresco dining area will serve you well in the warm climate. When it's time to branch out, you'll find several rustic restaurants nearby in Vence, and Nice is just a forty-minute drive away.

Perched on a hilltop just outside the medieval village of Seillans, this home offers a tranquil retreat for a family or group of friends. Inside, the villa is unfussy, comfortable and well-equipped – although it's worth noting that you'll have to pay for bed linen here. But, it's the outside space that caught our eye. With sun-kissed terraces, a private heated pool, and the quiet of nature surrounding you, outdoor living is a must. The cherry on top is the summer kitchen, where guests can light the barbecue and enjoy alfresco dining to make the most of the sunny climate.

This family-friendly villa promises the best of both worlds – an idyllic countryside location, yet a short drive to the sandy beaches of the Côte d'Azur and glamourous French Rivera. There's no better place to bask in the peaceful surroundings than the lush garden, with its refreshing pool, picturesque terrace and sweeping hillside views. Grab a good book and retreat to a shady spot under the tree or stretch out on the poolside loungers on lazy afternoons. Inside is warm and inviting, brimming with plush furniture, colourful artwork and grand windows overlooking the garden. We adore the personality the owners have injected into this home – it's a little rustic, a tad bohemian, and full of character. Keen cooks will love picking up fresh ingredients from the market in Valbonne and preparing dinner in the spacious kitchen. Our serving suggestion – best enjoyed alfresco with a glass of Côtes de Provence on the terrace. If you find yourself craving a day out, Valbonne is home to an array of quaint cafes and shops, while Grasse, Antibes and Cannes are all just a half-hour drive away.

Boasting stunning views from the infinity pool, this villa is close to Provence's charming villages and within easy reach of Côte d'Azur's beaches. Families will find plenty to entertain from board games to video games, pets are welcome to join you, and there's space for alfresco dining under the sun. This home is as practical as it is lovely – you'll find a dedicated office for remote working and room for three cars to park outside. While the town of Montauroux is a breezy stroll away with its cobblestone streets and cosy cafes, we think you'll want a car here to get the most out of this gorgeous location.

Set amid a leafy garden with lovely picnic spots and a private pool, the built-in barbecue and shaded terrace encourage outdoor living here. With colourful tiles, beamed ceilings, and a grandfather clock, this home's interior design is charming, though some elements may feel a bit too old-fashioned. While a boulangerie and pizzeria are nearby, plus Peymeinade sitting two kilometres away, we think a car is essential. Offering a great day trip, beachy Cannes awaits forty minutes down the road.

Set on the grounds of a thirteenth-century chateau, this home offers the chance to stay on one of the oldest estates on the Côte d’Azur. It’s a part of France famous for its artistic heritage. Picasso, Matisse and Cézanne all painted in the area, and the Picasso museum, Matisse chapel and the Colombe D'or - where artists would pay for food with paintings - keep this rich history alive. Just a 3km walk to the sea, and 15km and 23km from Nice and Cannes respectively, you're perfectly positioned to explore the region. That is, if you can tear yourself away from the tranquility of the salt-filtered pool, 8.5 hectares of private parkland and shaded outdoor terrace.

In the green hills of Saint Paul de Vence and with 3.8 hectares of glorious gardens to enjoy, this is a spectacular home to gather in for a special event or just treat yourself to a Riviera holiday in style. Topped off with enormous grounds of around 1000 m², it's surrounded by pretty countryside.

You'll probably be here for the excellent hiking and cycling locally (or in fact the canoeing, rafting or paragliding) but this home is much more than just a convenient base. A place with real appeal and stylish decor, it has a relaxing, home-from-home feel. Pad out to the south-facing terrace and sun yourself on the loungers or read in the shade of the old holm oak tree. And if the heat is getting to you, there's a neat solution that the kids will love too – your own above-ground pool with detachable steps.

After an active day out, cook dinner in your fabulous kitchen, with two sets of sliding doors so you can open it right up to the garden, or light the barbecue and eat outside as the stars come out. Before bed, plan the next day's adventures – perhaps you'll choose to picnic on the shores of Lac de Sainte-Croix or visit Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, said to be one of the most beautiful villages in France.
