There’s a distinctly provincial feel to this villa in the southern French countryside. The charming village of St Paul De Vence is walkable and Nice is an easy drive away. With a private swimming pool surrounded by greenery, loads of furnished patios and terraces, and a fully-equipped summer kitchen, it’s clear this place is designed for days outdoors in the southern sun. It’s naturally cool inside, thanks to the open living areas connected by archways and tiled floors underfoot. The cellar-like stocked bar is a nice surprise. Plus, there’s an exercise room for morning workouts. Bedrooms are split between a main villa and two dependences.

Nestled on a mountainside above the historic town of Vence, this home offers a peaceful retreat with breathtaking views of the Côte d'Azur. Ideal for extended family or a group of friends, it’s impossible not to relax here. But for us, the cherry on top is the outdoor space. We love the private pool, secret dining spots, and, of course, those views that stretch for miles. If they tempt you away from home, it’s a mere three kilometres down the mountain to Vence, where a host of French eateries await, or you can pop to the daily market for some local produce to cook at home.

Perched on the edge of historic Vence in the Côte d'Azur region, this home's fantastic views could distract you from the home itself. That would be a shame, as it's a charming home – spread over three floors, you can easily find a spot to tuck yourself away with a glass of red. The outdoor areas shine here – along with the pool, you'll find a boules court and garden seating areas, while the al fresco dining area will serve you well in the warm climate. When it's time to branch out, you'll find several rustic restaurants nearby in Vence, and Nice is just a forty-minute drive away.

French in Love

As soon as you catch a glimpse of the surrealist pool on the lawn, you know that this home offers something of a twist on the traditional French villa. But the hosts have not compromised on comfort in their search for a unique aesthetic; comfortable lounges and sunny terraces are the perfect settings for a mid-morning coffee and there are plenty of places to soak up the rays of the Côte d'Azur. If you can bear to tear yourself away from the views of the hillside home, there’s a wealth of countryside and culture to explore -- a twenty minute drive will take you to some of the area’s famous beaches or the city centre of fashionable Nice, whereas the quaint village of Vence is just a ten minute walk away. Saunter down to explore the weekly antiques market, visit the chapel designed by Matisse, or prepare for a day’s hiking through the picturesque hills. Here, the sky really is the limit.

Whitewashed and compact, this fuss-free apartment is the perfect base from which to explore the dazzling French Riviera. Inside, parquet, rattan and tufts of pampas combine to create a relaxing living space – curl up on the loveseat with a coffee in the mornings and a chilled glass of wine in the evenings.

Rustle up a traditional salade niçoise in the kitchen or try out a local restaurant if you’d prefer to leave it to the professionals. Spend golden afternoons stretched out on Voilier Beach, less than a five-minute walk away, before strolling down the Promenade des Anglais with an ice cream in hand. Mosey into the old town for its jumble of narrow cobblestone streets, pastel-hued buildings and artisanal shops. In the early evening, admire the masterpieces in the Modern and Contemporary Art Museum, then head up to Castle Hill for a knockout sunset.

Formerly an olive farm, this villa was converted into an aristocrat’s home the 18th century, and has recently been restored to all its former grandeur, with some added modern comforts. It’s totally charming: the butter yellow exteriors are complimented by forest green shutters, and on one side there’s a tower rising three floors high. The interiors are typified by their old world charm: high ceilings, antique french tiled floors, duck egg blue curtains and oil paintings make the living space a cosy place to relax. The modern, fully renovated kitchen has two sliding glass doors leading to an al fresco table, which is the perfect spot to enjoy home cooked delights on sunny days. 

The villa is in a private and serene area on a hilltop, surrounded by two hectares of fragrant landscaped gardens, featuring numerous terraces, centennial olive trees, cypresses, and oleanders that lead up to a woodland. Wander down one of the paths to admire panoramic views of the Saint-Véran Forest, the Alps and the sea. 

Stroll fifteen minutes down to old Villeneuve-Loubet, a charming Provencal village for coffee and pastries in the morning, before coming home for a dip in the pool. On sunny days, hop in the car and drive fifteen minutes to your pick of sandy beaches along the coastline, before lunch at a seafront restaurant. You’ll want to make it back home for sunset, for drinks on the terrace as the land turns golden. On warm evenings, light the candles at the poolside table and enjoy dinner beneath the stars.

It's hard to know where to start when talking about our favourite things about this magnificent holiday home on France's captivating Cote d'Azur. 

Of course, the meticulously finished, thoughtfully decorated interior is among its many highlights – providing a setting that is at once comfortable and luxurious, whilst also feeling relaxed and homely and exuding a certain beguiling, understated rustic elegance. Step outside, and you're sure to find the exterior areas of this home truly exquisite. With loads of inviting spaces to sit and enjoy a drink while taking in the splendour of your surroundings, the hardest thing will be deciding exactly where to park yourself for an hour or two. Then there's the wonderful location amid a quiet, leafy area in Saint-Paul, one of the area's most sought-after locations. Nestled on the edge of an untamed forest on a large plot of around 5000 square metres filled with fruit trees, palms, and flowers, the feeling here is more of being on a private estate than simply a villa. 

Spend your days here exploring the expansive grounds within and beyond the property's perimeters. Anyone for a spot of tennis? If so, you needn't leave the grounds. The same goes should you want to while away an hour or two with a game of boules, or if you simply fancy a dip in the pool before drying off in the sun, lazing on one of the loungers in the afternoon warmth. 

Or, take the roughly 35-minute stroll into the old town of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, where you will find bundles of quintessentially southern French charm, fantastic restaurants serving the finest local cuisine, and one winding cobbled laneway prettier than the last within the old city walls. For something a little more upmarket, or to mark a special occasion, there are several (that's right, several) Michelin-star restaurants reachable with just a short drive.

For those with a taste for the archetypal French Riviera, the effortlessly chic town of Nice, perched on the glittering waters of the Mediterranean, is just a 25-minute drive away. Now, that's enough to make anyone say Bon Voyage.

Another element of this home we love is that each of the bedrooms has its own terrace. Set in the charming town of La Colle-sur-Loup, this villa is also just a five-minute drive from the village of St Paul de Vence. You’ll have a whole resort’s worth of amenities to enjoy – there are indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a tennis court (hard court, in case you’re wondering), fully-equipped outdoor kitchen, pool table and a cinema room with rows of recliners that will take movie night to a whole new level. Open the large wooden doors onto the beautiful terrace and enjoy incredible views of the French countryside. This is the perfect spot to enjoy dinners al fresco, sip local wine and simply bask in the beauty of this special place. 

Spend the day winding your way along country roads, visiting the renowned markets of Antibes, exploring Chateau Musee Grimaldi where Renoir once lived, or enjoy a slow afternoon with a book in a local cafe.

Set on the grounds of a thirteenth-century chateau, this home offers the chance to stay on one of the oldest estates on the Côte d’Azur. It’s a part of France famous for its artistic heritage. Picasso, Matisse and Cézanne all painted in the area, and the Picasso museum, Matisse chapel and the Colombe D'or - where artists would pay for food with paintings - keep this rich history alive. Just a 3km walk to the sea, and 15km and 23km from Nice and Cannes respectively, you're perfectly positioned to explore the region. That is, if you can tear yourself away from the tranquility of the salt-filtered pool, 8.5 hectares of private parkland and shaded outdoor terrace.

This home might not be the largest flat we’ve ever seen, but it punches well above its weight. That's what come to mind as you take in the bold zebra stripes moving down the walls and the subtle pops of blue and fuchsia in the curtains and artwork. It’s in a great spot in the centre of Nice, and comes with a range of utilities and nearby parking spaces too. If efficiency, beauty and location are your priorities, there's nowhere better to look.

With a mild climate through the winter months and glorious sunshine guaranteed in the summer, it's a safe bet that you'll want to spend much of your time soaking up the exquisitely beautiful ambience of the garden setting. Whether you're out by the swimming pool, inspired by the iconic La Colombe d'Or hotel, wandering around the flower garden scented with aromas of lavender, fruit trees and olive groves or preparing alfresco feasts at the patio's kitchen – this private sanctuary of bliss presents a peaceful place any time of day. 

While the garden is hard to top, the interior is just as dreamy. French windows invite light-filled energy into the space, where a mix of both contemporary and classic designs pave the way to a comfortable stay. The main villa features four plush bedrooms, including the main bedroom with a roll-top bath and a large dressing room. Set in Saint Paul de Vence, one of France's most beautiful villages, you'll be just a short stroll down to the sought-after Fondation Maeght. Here you can admire its collection of modern art and wander through its incredible Joan Miró sculpture garden. Further down the lane and into the town centre, you'll find shops and restaurants to enjoy amongst its narrow lanes and weekly farmers market.

Sitting on the luscious hilltops above Nice, this villa brings a little bit of trademark French Riveria glamour to a slightly more rural location.

Out in the garden, it's pretty obvious where summer afternoons will be spent — out in the swimming pool surrounded by trees and loungers. Once you've been for a dip or two, there's shady seating on the covered terrace and a balcony from which you're treated to a rather lovely view of the valley.

Inside, there's definitely a rustic flavour in the design, as seen with the tiled flooring and country kitchen, but there are more contemporary flourishes in the shape of mid-century-inspired furnishings and brightly coloured bathrooms.

In the local area, you'll find plenty of hiking routes and scenic points, as well as a few wine bars and restaurants for well-earned refreshments. If you prefer a day out at the beach, Plage Landsberg takes half an hour to reach in the car and the seaside city of Nice just ten minutes longer than that.

Join in with the celebration of colour and fun at this sunny apartment perched in the central Liberation Quarter and just a ten-minute walk from Nice's charming old town.

Inside, we can't get enough of the pops of citron, giving the whole space a fresh and uplifting feel. But it's that outside terrace with magnificent city vistas, all-day sunshine, and private setting (thanks to the apartment's privileged top-floor position) that's getting us hot under the collar. Sunny mornings call for alfresco breakfast on the balcony – an all-too-rare treat in a city where outdoor space is scarce. And if you think it's impressive now, just wait until dusk when the lights of the city flicker on – it's a prime spot for a few aperitifs before heading out for dinner.

And you're in the right part of town to do so here. Dive into buzzy restaurants nestled amidst the old-world opulence of the historic quarter's architecture. Pick up some local specialties at the Liberation market (a five-minute walk). Call in at the magnificent Marc Chagall Museum and the Basilica of Notre Dame for a spot of culture (both roughly ten minutes away on foot). And of course, there's always the dazzling coast (a ten-minute drive or twenty-five-minute stroll) for balmy beach days and people watching from Promenade des Anglais' famed blue chairs – sunglasses at the ready, folks.

Location, location, location – it doesn't get much better than this. Nestled in the picturesque Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, you'll be able to enjoy one of the best positions on the French Riviera here. Overlooking the Cap Ferrat peninsula, there's a sunny balcony to enjoy – the perfect spot for alfresco dining – as well as access to a shared saltwater pool. Prefer the beach? You're in luck, as you'll have your pick of some of the very best, complete with beach clubs and restaurants, all within walking distance. The towns of Cap Ferrat, Villefranche-sur-Mer and Beaulieu-sur-Mer are also just a short stroll from home, meaning there's no need for a car here (though if you do choose to bring one, underground parking is available).

This contemporary apartment is all about the location for us. There’s secure parking here, but if you don’t fancy driving on holiday, a car isn’t necessary. Many local hotspots are within walking distance and Antibes train station is a mere five-minute stroll away for adventures further afield in the Côte d'Azur. Walk to Old Antibes, the Picasso Museum or Gravette beach – there’s something for everyone here. And when dinner is calling, head to Juan-les-Pins. A stroll down the seafront promenade, lined with French eateries, awaits.

This apartment has a great location, just a ten-minute stroll from the beach, the old town of Antibes, the Picasso Museum and the Port Vauban. Other attractions include the chic resort of Juan-les-Pins, known for its stylish restaurants and fashion boutiques, a twenty-minute walk away. Back at this modern apartment, which is above a shop, there are views over the city from the social open-plan living space and balcony. It’s a central spot, so you’ll have some street noise here, but you have everything virtually on your doorstep.

Located in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, this charming apartment offers a taste of village life on the French Riviera. Situated directly on a market square, you’ll be mere steps from shops, cafes and of course, the bustling market stalls selling fresh local produce. You’ll have views across the village as well as the mountains that surround it, which can be enjoyed from the large windows in the open-plan living area. There’s a private garage across the street if you fancy renting a car and exploring – you’re right between Nice and Monaco here so there’s plenty to see and do.

This family-friendly villa promises the best of both worlds – an idyllic countryside location, yet a short drive to the sandy beaches of the Côte d'Azur and glamourous French Rivera. There's no better place to bask in the peaceful surroundings than the lush garden, with its refreshing pool, picturesque terrace and sweeping hillside views. Grab a good book and retreat to a shady spot under the tree or stretch out on the poolside loungers on lazy afternoons. Inside is warm and inviting, brimming with plush furniture, colourful artwork and grand windows overlooking the garden. We adore the personality the owners have injected into this home – it's a little rustic, a tad bohemian, and full of character. Keen cooks will love picking up fresh ingredients from the market in Valbonne and preparing dinner in the spacious kitchen. Our serving suggestion – best enjoyed alfresco with a glass of Côtes de Provence on the terrace. If you find yourself craving a day out, Valbonne is home to an array of quaint cafes and shops, while Grasse, Antibes and Cannes are all just a half-hour drive away.

Explore the Côte d'Azur with ease from this Valbonne home. It's just twenty-five minutes from the coast and beaches, with picturesque villages like Saint-Paul-de-Vence and Mougins also nearby. Provençal style inspired, the interiors are charming – white-washed beams adorn the ceilings, artwork hangs above the dining table, a lofted single bed makes an ideal hideout for little ones, and a small desk sits on the upstairs landing if you need to work from home. But it's the garden that really shines here. Sweeping mountain & sea views provide the perfect backdrop for cocktail hours and alfresco dinners. The private pool will also be hard to resist.

Relax with your morning coffee on the balcony and watch the world go by at this apartment in the centre of Nice. Given the central location, it can be a tad noisy, but we love that it's filled with sunlight and comfortable to boot.

Famous tourist sites are only a five-to-ten-minute walk away, so there'll be plenty to do in the local vicinity. The area is full of charming shops and eateries, all of which are accompanied by the delicious aroma of coffee from local cafés. Or, dip your toes in the magnificent blue waves of Cannes or take a boat ride in Monaco – about a forty-five-minute drive away.

If you don't have a car, the location is ideal for walking, so you won't have any transportation issues. If you would like to explore further, the nearest bus stop is only a two–minute walk away, and a tram stop is only a three–minute walk away. This home is ideal for those who appreciate convenience combined with beauty.

There are stunning views from this home with its heated pool, summer kitchen and alfresco dining spots. Guests can also enjoy the table tennis, yoga, gym lawn and boules court in the terraced gardens planted with olive, orange and fig trees. Once owned by the 8th Earl Spencer, there’s an impressive Provençal-style lounge (one of several) and we love the conservatory reading room with its idyllic vistas. Some of the bedrooms here have en-suites and some open out onto the terrace, while two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed at full capacity. Location-wise, this place is just a short walk from the local village and it's around a thirty-minute drive from the beaches of the French Riviera. 

Provençal Panache

With panoramic views that have inspired Picasso, Matisse and Miró, this home proudly overlooks the Valmasque forest from the private pool and ample outdoor seating. As if in homage, there's an artistic approach to the decor, and you'll find photography and art around the villa. Though this might not be to everyone's liking, we think the monochromatic palette keeps it neutral enough. Besides, it's comfortable and well-equipped, too. Location-wise, the coast is dotted with beaches like Plage de la Batterie, only minutes away, and the Friday market in Valbonne is a must.

There's a quiet grandeur to this apartment that we can't help but love. Located on the fourth floor of a striking art deco building, the interior feels quintessentially French – from the parquet flooring and crown moulding to the oversized windows flooding the rooms with light. The design is modern but still honours that bourgeois style with blue velvet furnishings and interesting artwork. It's a lush getaway that two couples or a small family will enjoy calling their home from home while they're in town. The location is excellent, too. The apartment is situated in the bustling Musician's Quarter, surrounded by charming belle époque architecture and only a fifteen-minute walk to the beach. Start your day with a coffee and a danish from the patisserie across the street before seeing the sights. Stroll along the famous Promenade des Anglais, explore the winding alleyways in Old Nice or shop for local produce and colourful bouquets at the market stalls in Cours Saleya. After a long day, unwind with a bottle of bubbly in the dining room – you're in France, after all.

At this heavenly waterfront home in Cap d’Antibes, relax in style surrounded by the sights and sounds of the sea. Inside, white-washed walls, sharp black accents and smooth grey tiles create a modern Mediterranean ambience in the living room space. Upstairs, you’ll find each room has its own story to tell with a plethora of unique details such as curved window frames, a rock wall installation and colourful tiles. 

We can’t decide which we love more – the roof terrace for alfresco dining or the outdoor swimming pool, perfect for a refreshing swim at daybreak. Though it’s tempting to spend your afternoons lounging on the balcony beguiled by the ocean views, we recommend taking the leisurely thirty-minute wander into the old town of Antibes – the Musée Picasso is well worth a visit – or strolling along Salis Beach, a mere ten minutes from your doorstep.
