It’s just a short ski from your apartment across to the cable car which will carry you up the mountain for a day on the slopes. When it’s time to unwind, wander into the village and replenish the calories you’ve burned with some tasty tapas, before heading back to your homely home and wrapping yourself up in those snuggly throws.

It’s just five minutes from Arties, where you’ll find plenty of top-notch restaurants, and is also a great base for hiking in the Aran Valley. Skiers will love being close to Baqueira-Beret, and will also appreciate the ski locker. We love the private garden space, where you can admire beautiful mountain views. To really push the boat out, ask your host to book a private chef for a celebratory dinner.

You’ll find this abode situated in the Spanish Pyrenees, right on the doorstep of the Baqueira Beret ski resort. Inside the home, it’s stylish yet inviting. Whizz along the 160 kilometres of linked slopes before finding a bar in the heart of town for a well-deserved glass of wine. If you’re keen to try something a little different, explore the surrounding winter walking trails or take the ten-minute drive into the traditional Aranese village of Arties.

A modern, stylish and comfortable home in an enviable position, a little more than ten minutes walk from Les Angles' famous ski area, this place has bags of appeal. Over three floors, with its own ski storage room and views across the countryside all the way to the nearby Lac de Matemale and the mountains beyond, it's family-friendly and roomy enough for a large group.

We love the styling here, with its mix of stone floors, local timber and exposed stone. The living room has comfy sofas and a log burner to keep everyone toasty in the depth of winter, and there are a few decorative touches that may come as a quirky surprise (we love the bear in the living room and the ski mask mirror in the hall). A well-equipped, modern kitchen comes with everything you'll need and there's a dining table seating eight.

Elsewhere, bedrooms and bathrooms are all individual and smartly furnished – our favourite being the main bedroom with its partly open en-suite. And kids will no doubt love the bunk room. Close to the centre of the village, you'll be within walking distance of its shops and restaurants, with all the resort facilities at your fingertips.

Step into the living area and you’re immediately struck by its captivating panoramic fireplace at its very heart. Imagine an evening spent here, the fire glowing and warming you after a day on the slopes. Put your large glass of red down on your tree stump coffee table, whilst the smell of dinner fills the open space. With views over the Posets-Maladeta natural park, it's quite a conversation starter as you settle down for a meal with loved ones.

The apartment is cosy and comfortable, with everything you’ll need for a break. After a day spent on the slopes, it’s wonderful to return to a home as welcoming as this. Curl up around the fireplace with a mug of cocoa, or sip a glass of red wine on the balcony while enjoying the mountain views. In the evening, whip up a comforting dish to tuck into at the dining table, and revel in the warmth of this utterly delightful home. 

The cable car is within easy reach, so it’s easy as can be to breathe in the mountain air. The skiing is fantastic but in summer there’s still plenty to keep you entertained. Lace up your hiking boots and explore the trails of the Arán Valley – this is such a beautiful part of the world.
