This charming restored home is full of character, from the remarkable circular stone staircase and wooden ceiling beams to the old stone floors. We love the gracious living room with its views over the fig and bamboo trees, the pool and the town's rooftops. There's a wood-burning stove, too, for cosy nights when the weather turns chilly and a desk for catching up on work as well. 

This place is ideal for a couple or family with two children. The icing on the cake here is the incredible hospitality from your lovely hosts. They can arrange all sorts of activities for you to do, including walking tours and cookery classes. 

When you're ready to explore the area, take a stroll around the town and admire the wonderful architecture or head to its renowned weekly market, then take a seat at one of its traditional restaurants. Further afield, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pont du Gard, under a twenty-minute drive away, or discover historic Nîmes, around thirty minutes in the car.


Secret Baignade

Live the Provençal dream at this homely maison in the village of Maussane-les-Alpilles. The farmhouse enjoys the unique benefit of a flora-filled private garden while being a five-minute walk from restaurants, boulangeries and elegant wine bars.

With lavender fields as your neighbour, beam-ceilinged rooms with exposed stone walls and a temperate private pool, you can experience the authentic Gallic lifestyle in this villa alongside all the comforts you're used to. The large country-style kitchen is the perfect place to try your hand at French cooking, too – if you'd rather leave it to the pros, your host will be happy to arrange a private chef.

Your local village is home to a number of Michelin star eateries, as well as lowkey pizzerias for those who prefer simple dining. It's also located in the country's hub of olive oil production, so we suggest you stop by an olive press to watch the magic happen. If you've hired a car, you'll be able to visit all of Provence's prettiest villages in no time – start with Arles, just twenty minutes away, then work your way towards Avignon and Aix-en-Provence.

The French Effect

At foot of the Mont Ventoux, in the heart of Vaucluse, nestled between centuries-old oaks and flowers, this charming home is perfect for a couple looking to get away from it all. First and foremost, with a pretty south-east facing garden, furnished terrace and private swimming pool, there's plenty of outdoor space to while away sun-soaked afternoons in the French countryside, with nothing but the sound of the chirping birds to interrupt your rest and relaxation. 

Inside the cottage, appealing artwork adorns the walls and a ruby-red colour palette runs throughout the open-plan kitchen, living and dining space to make for warm and welcoming interiors that will quickly have you feeling right at home. There's a different look in the bedroom with muted grey tones and palm-themed wallpaper to lull you into your restful slumbers with ease, ready for a day of exploring in the morning. 

Location-wise, you've struck gold. While the quaint commune of Carpentras, with its mini-markets, cosy bakeries, cafés, shops and restaurants, is right on your doorstep, you can also reach a number of interesting cities and tourist attractions within minutes. You're a thirty-two-minute drive from Avignon, forty minutes from Gordes, and only twenty-five minutes by car from the Grotte de Thouzon caves, just to name a few. 

The French Garden

A thirty-minute drive from the red rooftops of Avignon, this home allows you to explore the depths of the Provence countryside. In this wonderfully organic landscape, it’s hard to believe you’re just an hour from the metropolis of Marseille. So if lush, verdant scenery is more your thing, this home certainly won’t disappoint.

Jade, forest, emerald, lime, olive, mint – you can use every single word for green to describe the charming exterior of this home. From tall leafy trees, to flowerbeds, to shrubs that flow onto the stone paths, this garden is a botanical marvel set over a hectare. Of course there’s a private pool, but we prefer the shade of the terrace and the boules court. You’ll love having meals at one of many alfresco dining spots, especially when you can cook in the fresh air of the outdoor kitchen.

As the cicadas come out by night, head into the main house. Its wooden doors and shutters are green, naturally. Traditional, rustic decor harks back to this home’s days as a farmhouse, but antique furniture and gilded frames create a luxury edge. Someone will be sleeping in the annexe – but its indoor hot tub might sway opinions a bit.

Le Jardin Vert

Perfect for a large group, this home is made up of a renovated stonehouse with three annexes offering independent access – just the ticket for groups who still value some privacy. Four bedrooms can be found in the main house, two of which are on the ground floor with outdoor access which will suit those with limited mobility but they're best avoided for younger children. With an outdoor kitchen, pool house, a selection of sun-kissed terraces and of course, the private pool, outdoor living is a must – the Provençal sun is impossible to resist, after all.

Champagne Whisky

Combining French country style with colourful eccentricity, along with fabulous facilities and an absolutely idyllic outdoor space, this stunning home offers everything you need for a dreamy stay.

Start each day by getting the blood pumping with some lengths of your private outdoor pool, or challenge your loved ones to a game of tennis on your private tennis court. Then head inside to cook a delicious French breakfast in your bright kitchen, and tuck in alfresco at your outdoor dining set. As the evening rolls in, get cosy by the fireplace and chat away into the night with family and friends.

When you want to venture out, you'll find plenty of places to explore right on your doorstep. There are 17 acres of shared parkland to enjoy a bike ride or a ramble. Check out the nearby Teraventure, a fantastic amusement park with rides and attractions that are great for little ones. Or, head into the nearby city of Montpellier for great sightseeing, bars and restaurants.

Quirky & Quaint

This lovely little villa lies on a small medieval hamlet, surrounded by Mediterranean gardens. We think it's ideal for a romantic getaway – children aren't permitted here, so you can take advantage of the peace and quiet. With your own Jacuzzi on the terrace and a private pool heated between April and October, it's well-equipped for alfresco living. We highly recommend hiring a car here to make the most of this gorgeous location, whether it's a day trip to Sommières or the bustling Montpellier.

Private Heaven

Once a hideout for the Knights Templar, this 12th-century Provençal estate is now more about poolside lounging than crusading. Think four-poster beds, spiral staircases and cosy nooks carved into ancient stone – all the medieval drama, with the added bonus of a private spa, home cinema and outdoor pool. There are three kitchens if you’re feeding a crowd, or bring in a private chef and let the feast come to you. With vineyards on your doorstep, the sea a short drive away and room for the whole gang to stretch out in style, this place makes history feel seriously indulgent.

The Vineyard Retreat

Set on a stunning estate in the heart of Saint-Remy-de-Provence, this gorgeous home features an array of resort-like amenities that guarantee a luxurious experience filled with memories. Wander around the perfectly manicured gardens, where you'll find an abundance of fauna and flora amidst the impressive landscaping. Relax on the surrounding lawns in the sunshine, or find a shaded spot under one of the ancient trees. Better still, take a seat at the alfresco terrace, where you can hear the soothing trickle of the fountain nearby. The private pool features a shallow end, perfect for younger children to splash around in. 

There are plenty of spaces dedicated to relaxation inside the home, too, as, beyond the chic interiors, you'll find an artist’s studio which offers space for yoga, while the relaxation area features an infrared sauna and an Italian shower as well gym equipment. 

Come evening time, gather around the Mediterranean-style kitchen for group cooking sessions. When the weather is warm, open up the arched windows that lead out onto the terrace for barbecues in the sun. End the soirée with a movie night or competitive ping pong/ table ice hockey game, or why not curl up for a movie night in the home cinema room? 

Located around a kilometre away from the centre of Saint-Remy-de-Provence, you'll be within walking distance of an array of bakeries, fruit and vegetable shops, and cafes and restaurants to sample. The town is well-known for its extensive history that proves popular with artists; it was here that inspired the likes of Van Gogh after all. 


Field of Poppies

Thirty minutes by car from the vibrant city of Avignon, the Provence countryside offers a slower lifestyle. Following the Rhône south, towards the hilly region of the Parc Naturel Régional des Alpilles (perfect for hiking) you’ll hit the town of Saint-Rémy. Famously the place where Van Gogh painted The Starry Night, you can try your own hand at painting the town, from this home just a twenty-minute walk away.

Exuding everything you’d expect from a house ‘à la provençal’, old-world elegance is the first theme of this magnificent home. Built in the late 20th century, its pale yellow exterior and pastel blue shutters stand out in the verdant surrounding landscapes – as does the blue of your private pool. Olive trees, lawns, and mountains create a calming environment where you'll love settling down for a picnic with a fresh baguette and camembert.

Luxury rustic continues indoors. You’ll love gliding across the flagstone flooring and vintage, Persian-style rugs. Wicker and leather are sumptuous seating arrangements for the evening, with a stone fireplace to gather around and share a bottle of pinot noir before bed.

Cypress Tree

Based in historic Uzès, classed as a City of Art and History, this townhouse is a remarkable base in the south of France. On arrival, you’ll be impressed by the vaulted stone ceiling in the entranceway – and this is just the start. Up a narrow spiral staircase, you’ll find a cosy sitting room with a library among other attractive rooms equipped with everything you might need for a comfortable stay. Best of all, this townhouse has its own private heated pool for you to swim in. There’s also a roof terrace that’s ideal for sunset cocktails.
