So constant is this home’s beauty, you can visit summer or winter and be bowled over by the views on offer from the balcony. In winter, when the Vosges Massif is capped in white and the snow lies in wait at the La Bresse-Hohneck ski resort, you can wrap up warm and enjoy a steaming cup of cacao as you gaze out over the blanketed town below. And it’s even more beautiful at sunset, when the orange glow of lights bathes it all in a fairytale glow. Although some of the winter wonderland atmosphere might evaporate as the warmer weather starts to melt the snow, the vibrant green beauty it leaves in its wake is still a sight to behold. 

When you’re not dining alfresco simply to get another look at that view, you can cosy up in the small living room to spend family movie night together, or opt for a bit of quiet time as you get in bed early with a good romance novel. 

With a free shuttle to and from La Bresse-Hohneck, you can get on the piste as early as you’d like and practice on the slopes until your limbs are in need of a hot shower. After, when you’ve sufficiently warmed up, you can have a après-ski drink on the balcony before switching on the fondue machine for a night of cheesy goodness around the dining table. 

Town centre is only a ten minute walk away, so it’s easy to stock up on whatever you need at the bakery, pharmacy, and shop.

There's something quietly beautiful about this home that sits just four hundred metres from Lake Gérardmer – it's something to do with the handsome granite exterior, large windows and timber-framed rooftop that all combine to make for a certain rustic charm.

By comparison, the interior is a little more contemporary in style, with stark white walls adorned with artwork, a minimalist kitchen and furnishings that look to the Nordic nations for influence. There are a few period features as well, including stained glass windows, a beech bannister and the fireplace, which is sadly only decorative.

It's fair to say, however, that if you're venturing to Gérardmer, you're hoping to spend as much time out in the Alpine air as possible. Not only does the home have a garden complete with seating for enjoying mild patches, but there's a whole host of excursions to try locally. There's a free shuttle bus to take you to the lifts up to the La Mauselaine ski area, but if you're here during the warmer months, days full of hiking and lake swimming await.

Located in the middle of the Burgundy countryside, there's been a building on this site for around two centuries, something you might be able to tell from the wooden beams, flagstone flooring and thick stone walls. However, it's no longer a humble barn, but a luxurious French getaway.

In the intervening two hundred years, plenty has been added to aid in this transformation. Outside, the most notable change has been the building of a heated swimming pool in the middle of the lush grounds and even more recently — in 2021, in fact — a walled garden has been constructed holding over twenty types of herbs and soft fruits. If you time your visit just right, you might be able to pick cherries and grapes straight off the branch.

When the weather's being kind, there's everything from a boules court and swing to a barbecue on the terrace with outdoor speakers to enjoy. If, however, the clouds are ominously grey, you can keep yourselves occupied on the billiards table or home cinema setup instead.

The nearest village is only twenty-five minutes away on foot and offers all the charming bakeries, charcuteries and markets you could want. As well as that, the unspoilt Morvan Regional Nature Park that surrounds the address means the local area is perfect for long walks or cycle rides. If that sounds too tame, the Magny Cours circuit — a French Grand Prix venue — is only forty minutes' drive away.

It doesn't get much more rural than that. Nearby, you'll find the towns of Sennecey le Grand, 5 kilometres to the north, and Tournus, 7 kilometres to the south. In each of these local towns, there are shops and restaurants to pick all you need. Don't miss the rolling local vineyards where the winegrowers welcome you to tour the vines and sample the wines.

The hosts, Laura and Peter, have kitted the place out with all the creature comforts you’ll need for an unforgettable break. The two other smaller resorts of Lispach with six runs, and Brabant, offering three, also welcome visitors during the season. For cross-country skiing, the Lispach Nordic Area boasts 50 kilometres of runs for all abilities, as well as snowshoeing circuits, an international biathlon stadium, a floodlit track, sledging slopes, and an ice rink.

This enormous chateau in the Burgundy countryside has quite a fascinating backstory. It was built in 1900 and gifted to a French actress by her lover before it was sold to the Red Cross and used as a war hospital. Today, it's the spot for a rather sumptuous getaway.

The interior is full of grand features, from the long dining table in the orangery and high-ceilinged living room to the library and impressive hallway. You might also notice some more recent additions, such as the home cinema set-up and spa-worthy bathrooms.

Outside, too, has some rather inviting features, chief among them the heated swimming pool surrounded by loungers. When you're finished taking a dip, there's plenty more to discover in the four acres of grounds, including a fishing pond and a shared tennis and basketball court.

However you choose to fill your days, the chateau's rural location will ensure you can do it in the utmost tranquillity. There are lots of walking routes that start nearby and Morvan National Park lies under half an hour's drive away. The town of Epinac only takes ten minutes in the car to reach and offers a restaurant, bakery, grocery and butchers.

If you love nature, you'll love this brand-new chalet located in quiet Nantaux. We adore this stylish home's picturesque setting. Admire the alpine plants, meadows and pine trees that surround the abode or relax on one of the wooden balconies. Our favourite spot has to be the swing chair – the view of the Alps are fabulous from both outside as well as inside. The large windows allow plenty of natural light – it really is a space you'll want to spend time in with your family or friends. When the alpine weather turns chilly, gather around the log burner with a glass of Génépi herbal liqueur.

This pretty village is perched on a south-facing hillside at an altitude of around 1200 metres, and it's 6 kilometres from Morzine. Col de l'Encrenaz, on the other hand, is 5 kilometres away – here you'll find many hikes like the "Tour du Roc d'Enfer" as well as snowshoeing and ski touring tracks. Alternatively, in the Summer, you can do some paragliding or mountain biking.

Where do we start with this great chalet? First of all, the views from the balcony are fantastic. There’s a garden with a hammock and a hot tub, too – perfect for relaxing in. We should mention that one of the twin bedrooms is on the mezzanine floor and has sloping ceilings so it's probably more suited for children. There’s also a sauna to unwind in after a day of skiing. Speaking of which – there’s a ski bus almost on your doorstep, and the piste is just 1 kilometre away.
