Nestled deep in French wine country, between Burgundy, Champagne and Chablis, this beautiful home will fulfil anybody's dreams of experiencing life in a medieval French castle. Original stone walls and wooden ceilings display the building's history, which is also emphasised by classic old Norman symbols and colours in the kitchen. Ensconced by fields, horses and rolling hills there are opportunities for walks and hiking in abundance, but also for horse riding, tennis, golf and swimming in a nearby lake. The hot springs in the nearest town of Bourbonne-les-Bains is a must see.

Le Roman de la Rose

This renovated barn in the Burgundy countryside is a twenty-minute drive from the charming town of Beaune. The hosts, Laura and Peter, have kitted the place out with all the creature comforts you’ll need for an unforgettable break. There’s a sauna available in the autumn and winter, a garden for refreshments alfresco and a bar for sampling the region’s best wines. At capacity, two guests will sleep on a sofa bed, which may not be ideal if you’re planning an extended stay.

Burgundy Haven

If you passed this nondescript townhouse on one of Baune's historic side streets, you wouldn't guess there's a hidden stone-walled wine cellar on its lower level. But that's exactly what you can expect from this unique home in the Burgundy wine region, formerly featured in The Times.

Built in the 17th century, the spacious house retains charming original details – from the exposed wooden beams to the curved sash windows. But your host has updated it with striking sculptures and graphic wall art, as well as comfortable furniture so you can kick back and relax after a day of exploring. 

You can't leave this home without arranging a tasting in the romantic candle-lit cellar, where an expert will introduce you to the area's finest wines. We're labelling this spot as the dream honeymoon location. Once you've had a taste of the flavourful wine, you'll likely want to see where it comes from. Get out into the countryside and enjoy a tour of nearby vineyards, arranged by your host to make your stay extra special.

Maison du Vin

Located in the bustling and vibrant 20th arrondissement, this apartment is full of modern sensibilities and charming character. Chic furniture and decor greet you as soon as you walk in, not least of which is the visually striking wallpaper in the living room and the bedroom. With room for two more guests if using the sofa bed, this apartment is a welcoming home base for your Parisian adventures. When you’re ready to see the sights, explore the bohemian character of the 20th, or get to the centre of the action easily by way of the nearby Metro.

Charonne Haven

For families, couples, and groups of friends looking to enjoy a trip to Paris, this apartment in the 20th arrondissement could do the trick. It's petite – like many of the city's flats – but it packs a punch with open-plan living and space for up to four guests when at maximum capacity. While well-connected on public transport, it is worth noting that this apartment isn't within walking distance of any of the top tourist sites. That being said, if you're happy to take the Metro and experience life like a local, this apartment in an authentically Parisian part of Paris could fit the bill. 

The Paris Sky

Nestled within a charming street, moments from the 18th-century gilded and decorated Place Stanislas, this apartment offers an idyllic spot to explore Nancy. The interior balances neutral tones, natural textures, and earthy prints – it’s a city oasis. And whether you’re here with a culturally-packed itinerary, on a business excursion, or for a spontaneous city break, this is the kind of home that suits the needs of the most discerning traveller. 

The dual-concept living area is swathed in natural textures, rattan and wicker furnishings, and a bespoke tree wallpaper. Open up the doors off of the kitchen as you fire off some project notes at the elegant table before enjoying a flaky croissant in the private courtyard. This is a tranquil space, with a plump sofa for sharing a glass or two of locally-produced Gamay and a charming dining table for enjoying the produce you picked up from the local market. You’ll find the ambient lights in the bedroom set the tone for page-turning and restful slumbers.  

When you’re ready to explore, the city’s cultural and culinary highlights are all within walking distance. From ambling the gardens of Parc de la Pépinière to dining along the Meurthe riverbanks during the golden hour, you’re in an idyllic setting to experience the city.

Le Jardin de Nancy

You can never go wrong if you book a whole chateau, which is why Sezanne Pond is such a lovely place to gather all your loved ones. Among the many services provided by the lovely host team, the fact that you can get an English-speaking guide to take you around is one of our favourites, but we can't say that we didn't love the fact that we booked maid service and released even more time in our day to do absolutely nothing. As this home used to be a retirement home back int the day, it has a lift for the luggage, which is another one of the small details that Sezanne Pond does absolutely right. Of course you get the standard luxuries — a large private pool, antique furniture fit for nobility, huge gardens where you can walk and reflect, a salon with a grand piano and a pool table, lots if spots to relax and read, and more. Within a few minutes' drive, rustic towns await, and we hope you take some time to explore this beautifully historic landscape and bring some local wine back to your chateau. 

Sezanne Pond

We love this charming single-level holiday home because it encompasses the best of both worlds. Though it is situated near Nancy's centre, allowing guests to make the most of the varied shopping, dining, and cultural offerings therein, it also feels tranquil and secluded – due in part to the small wooded area at the rear of the property. There you will also find a seating area perfect for long summer evenings spent in the company of friends and family. 

While the home's exteriors have a traditional French aesthetic typical of the Alsace-Lorraine area, step inside and you'll find cool and versatile interiors – think funky furniture, design-forward wallpaper, and quirky artwork adorning the walls. One of our favourite features has got to be the sleek shower rooms. Finished in a chic floor-to-ceiling grey marble, lending the room an upscale if somewhat trendy industrial feel, this space is perfect for a bit of pampering before a day – or an evening – spent exploring the highlights of Nancy.

From the Palais Ducal with its archetypal fairytale vibes to the beautifully ornate Basilique Saint-Epvre or the popular Parc de la Pépinière and its fragrant rose garden, not to mention the wealth of cultural attractions including the National Opera and the Fine Arts Museum, there is so much to fall in love with in and around the historic centre of this city. Best of all, it’s all within easy reach, thanks to the excellent transport links around this home.

The Deer Lodge

Just metres from the shore of Lac Bouzey, this charming two-bedroom cabin offers an idyllic family-friendly gateway to the low-lying mountains of the Vosges in eastern France.

Its open-plan interior is light and airy thanks to south-facing sliding doors with picturesque lake views and easy access to a private deck. It is equipped with an outdoor dining set and an indulgent Jacuzzi for relaxing out in nature. Back inside, the kitchen is kitted out with everything you need to fry up family feasts, while the two bedrooms are decorated in soothing blue and lavender tones – mirroring the colours of the lake's summer season.

Lovers of the great outdoors will appreciate the opportunity to get out on the water on a sailboat or paddleboard, supervised swimming over the summer months and plenty of hiking and biking trails through the surrounding countryside. 

The cabin is located on the outskirts of the quiet commune of Sanchey and a short drive from the historic, leafy town of Épinal. We'd suggest parking up and exploring its pretty central square, magical old quarter and medieval ruins on foot before heading further east to the breathtaking Ballon des Vosges.

And Away

For a peaceful Parisian base, this apartment is an excellent choice. It’s in the Bois de Vincennes in the 12th arrondissement, in a predominantly residential neighbourhood. You’ll be close to Place de la Nation and Parc Floral de Paris, with transport links that make it as easy as can be to explore the rest of Paris. The apartment is bright and welcoming, with tall windows, a petite terrace, and chic decor. It’s tranquil and charming, ideal for business and leisure travellers. 


La Nuit Parisienne

Situated in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, this apartment is a short stroll from several green spaces. For those interested in history, the Place de la Nation is just over a fifteen-minute walk away. And there are a diverse range of cafes and restaurants to enjoy too. Public transport links are easily reachable as well, so exploring the rest of Paris is straightforward. Set on the second floor with no lift, be prepared to have a climb to reach this home. Once here, you’ll find a comfy open-plan living space. This room also sleeps two guests on a sofa bed at full occupancy. We think this place will suit guests looking to experience the City of Light like a local.

Parisian Leaf

Nestled among Sancerre's rolling vineyards and scenic countryside, this 19th-century castle is truly a one-of-a-kind stay. Though your host has preserved the château's stunning character features, it's anything but old-fashioned. You can work in the wood-panelled library, sip cocktails by the fire in one of the four drawing rooms, or climb the twisting stairs to one of the sumptuous bedrooms for some much-needed R&R. Outside, you'll have three hectares of gardens to explore, offering everything from a wood-fired hot tub, sauna, and fitness room to a heated swimming pool – not to mention many picturesque trails leading through the woodlands. With a live-in concierge on hand to arrange wine tastings and other extras, an unforgettable holiday awaits.
