Between the cities of Laon and Soissons, in the quiet village of Lizy, this country home invites you to experience the charming woodlands and striking chateaus of the French countryside. 

Spend your days in the garden enjoying the fruits of the orchard and castle views – the outdoor sofa is the perfect place to relax and enjoy your surroundings. When you feel like exploring, there are six bikes available which are perfect for cycling through the forest or paying a trip to the village to pick up some local ingredients to cook on the barbecue. For a change of pace, take a drive to one of the nearby towns, where you can discover ancient architecture, wine shops and cafes. 

This home puts family time front and centre, with garden games and even a ping pong table on offer. When night falls, head indoors to cuddle up around the wood burner, or take a relaxing soak in the bath.

Castle & Orchard 

This charming cottage stands at the heart of a famous wine village in Burgundy, Puligny-Montrachet. It’s in a marvellous location for exploring the vineyards of Burgundy, and for soaking up the atmosphere of quaint French villages. The wine capital of Burgundy, Beaune, is just a fifteen-minute drive away. 

The traditional house stands across from the village square – you can watch the comings and goings of the locals from your terrace. Each morning, you need only take a few steps to buy fresh bread and pastries from the boulangerie, which you can devour on the terrace – we love dining alfresco on holiday. In the evening, you might cook on the barbecue, or for special occasions make a reservation at the Michelin-starred restaurant just down the road. 

The cottage blends historic charm with stylish decor. You can look forward to seeing the original parquet flooring, exposed stone walls and wooden beams, alongside some modern touches that make your stay all the more comfortable. After a day spent cycling around nearby vineyards, it feels glorious to sink into the master suite’s deep bathtub – pour yourself a glass of wine to take your relaxation to the next level. 

Burgundy & Stone

Go back in time with a stay at this memorable holiday home. This 18th-century gîte sits on the edge of the beautiful Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan, making it ideal for those who want to explore the stunning French countryside. Inside, you'll find antique furnishings, oil paintings and historic decor that makes the home feel truly special, as well as some places to soak up its history, such as the heirloom library. Outside, the pretty courtyard is ideal for alfresco dining, while the outdoor lounge area is great for drinks at sunset.

Gîte Chic

SoCal vibes with a view of the Seine – this stunning riverside villa is located just 45km south of Paris, but you might as well be half a world away. Your host has turned his passion for design and eye for detail into creating this unique retreat.

Extensive panes of glass, a gorgeous first-floor balcony and a south-facing aspect mean that the interior is flooded with light throughout the day. At the same time, jute rugs, a plethora of woven pendant lamps and cowhide armchairs lean into the California/frontier aesthetic.

Elsewhere, a nautical-themed bar and turquoise kitchen evoke the ocean and long summer evenings surfing the perfect peeling right-handers down at Malibu.

Down by the water's edge, you can spend sunny afternoons fishing in the river, playing table tennis, soaking in the hot tub and listening to music on the provided speakers.

If you're willing to shatter the Californian illusion, the centre of Paris is only around forty minutes away. So you can be living it up on the west coast one minute and gazing at the Eiffel Tower or wandering past world-famous artworks at the Louvre the next.

Queen of California

Located in the bustling and vibrant 20th arrondissement, this apartment is full of modern sensibilities and charming character. Chic furniture and decor greet you as soon as you walk in, not least of which is the visually striking wallpaper in the living room and the bedroom. With room for two more guests if using the sofa bed, this apartment is a welcoming home base for your Parisian adventures. When you’re ready to see the sights, explore the bohemian character of the 20th, or get to the centre of the action easily by way of the nearby Metro.

Charonne Haven

Nestled among Sancerre's rolling vineyards and scenic countryside, this 19th-century castle is truly a one-of-a-kind stay. Choose between a medieval-style "cave" suite, a room in a turret, or a sun-dappled boudoir overlooking the courtyard during your stay here. This château in the heart of Burgundy's rolling countryside is the ideal spot for a group getaway. The fully kitted-out kitchen and long dining tables are made for massive group meals. Perched on a hilltop, you can enjoy panoramic views of the vineyards and field below from the poolside, or the terrace. A glass of local red is the perfect pairing.

Knight in Shining Armour

Enjoy the idyllic beauty of the French countryside with a stay at this family home located in the village of Vichel-Nanteuil, halfway between  Château-Thierry and Soissons. With sweeping fields, forests and vineyards all around, you’re in for a truly relaxing time. 

Arrive to find a warm and welcoming exterior, inviting you to step inside and make yourself at home. The open-plan living and dining area has plenty of room to kick back and relax – snuggle up for an evening of movies and French wine or step into the well-equipped kitchen to rustle up a delicious feast using fresh ingredients you’ll be able to pick up at the local farmers market. You can share your suppers at the dining table inside or out in the garden, where there’s also a barbecue oven to make those alfresco gatherings even more fun. 

Later, head up to the comfy bedrooms for a night of restful sleep and wake up feeling reinvigorated. Outside your home, you’ll be surrounded by picturesque nature walks and you can also take a barge ride on the Ourcq river. You may also choose to take a tour of the expansive vineyards and visit the Château-Thierry and the surrounding Champagne country. For a family day out, Disneyland Paris is located under an hour away by car.

From forest trails and bike rides to wild swimming and water sports, there’s everything you could need to feel refreshed and inspired by the natural abundance of the Vosges countryside.  

Stepping inside, the light-filled living room invites you to sit back and soak up the views. From here, you can open the doors and bask in the fresh air from the terrace – and with the welcome addition of a jacuzzi, you’ll find yourself transported to a wonderful state of relaxation. 

Back inside, the fully-equipped kitchen and large dining table make it easy to celebrate life’s special moments with drinks and home-cooked meals – you can buy fresh local produce at a lovely weekly market in Épinal (just a fifteen-minute drive away). And when the views inspire you to explore beyond this private sanctuary, days can be spent relaxing on the nearby beach (just a short stroll away) or embracing the array of lakeside activities.

Lake of Wonder

Nestled on the border of the 12th and 20th arrondissements, this home offers you the chance to explore the quieter side of Paris. Spend each day as a true local – browse fresh produce at the Cours de Vincennes market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, wander the tree-lined paths of the Bois de Vincennes, and visit local cafes and boutiques in quaint Charonne. And when you're ready to hit the main sights, the city centre is just a fifteen-minute subway ride away. This cosy apartment has just enough space for two to unwind – and we imagine the kitchen might come in handy after your trip to the market.

With such quaint and historic surroundings, this 17th-century terraced brick apartment aims to keep things tranquil and to let Lille do the talking. Explore this medieval principality - that once encompassed parts of northern France, as well as Dutch and Belgian provinces - from your centrally-located home.

Its modern interior brings 21st-century ideals to this otherwise historic neighbourhood with a statement black kitchen, modernist white furnishings and bold accent walls. The open plan dining area is an idyllic spot to spend quick breakfasts with coffee and croissants you picked up from the boulangerie Au Fournil de Jade Abdelkader, just five minutes walk, as well as candlelit dinners made with your market haul selection from Halles de Wazemmes, a fourteen-minute drive or twenty minutes if you’re optioning for the metro. 

Explore the Flanders capital’s distinctive Baroque architecture, its old town, Vieux Lille, and the former coal-mining site which is now the contemporary, Musée du Louvre-Lens.
