Head up to the first floor of this home close to the Brittany coastline and you're treated to views of the sea and the narrow Sillon de Talbert stretching out through the water. Back down at ground level, it's not possible to catch a glimpse of this vista, but there's an innate sense of peace and tranquillity that often comes with being close to the sea.

During spells of warm weather, guests can while away the hours on the loungers and dining table on the terrace, or even play games on the large lawn. When you finally head inside, you're sure to be instantly struck by the minimalist interior. Large windows and glass doors invite in bountiful amounts of natural light and this is accentuated by the stark white walls and shiny wooden floors. Located in a former hotel, this apartment has breathtaking sea views. We particularly love the main bedroom with its four-poster bed and ocean vistas (there's also an office area here if you want to write a travel blog or catch up on work). In fact, there are sea views to enjoy from most rooms. The highlight, though, for us, is the private garden area around the apartment – you have a terrace and garden furniture for alfresco meals – it's a great space overlooking the Grande Plage, as well as the Pointe de la Garde.

Spend idyllic days on the Grande Plage on your doorstep or indulge in some water sports such as surfing, paddleboarding or take some catamaran lessons. If you fancy exploring further afield, then Cape Fréhel, to the west, is perfect for bird watchers, or the nearby charming resort of Saint-Cast-le-Guildo has a small port and coastal paths.

This lovely home is a real delight. It was recently renovated, and has been beautifully decorated – you can tell how much love has gone into this home. Hues of green and jade run throughout the decor, resulting in a soothing vibe. When you’re on holiday, you want to be able to relax in style, and that’s just what you can do here. 

The stunning monochrome kitchen is a great place to begin your day, whether you’re simply preparing coffee or whipping up a feast. Everything you might need has been considered here, so cooking is a pleasure rather than a chore. When everyone is seated around the dining table, you’ll see why this home is so popular with families and groups of friends – there’s plenty of room for everyone to gather together. 

If the sun is shining, you’ll want to be outside. Lie out on a sun lounger to top up your Vitamin D, or dive right into the heated swimming pool. The south-facing terrace is a wonderful spot, looking out over the lush gardens – we’d be tempted to fire up the barbecue for a dinner under the stars. Carantec is a lovely part of France, and staying in this home makes it all the more lovely. This charming home can be found just a one-minute walk from Plage de la Grève Blanche, where you can stroll along the shore skimming stones and paddling in the shallows. 

When you return home from the beach, with the salt sea air in your hair, you might sit out in the garden to enjoy the last of the day’s sunshine. The courtyard is best early in the morning, when you can revel in the peace and quiet of this home. We love the terrace in the evenings – fire up the barbecue to grill locally caught fresh fish and pop open a bottle of wine. We could merrily while away hours in this way, spending time with loved ones and feeling the stresses of everyday life drift away on the sea breeze. 

Inside, you’ll find a tranquil haven. Neutral hues blend with cosy, soft furnishings and natural wood shades. The living and dining space is utterly serene, the perfect place to unwind. If the weather turns chilly, gather around the stone fireplace to play cards, or curl up with a good book from the library upstairs. 

This is a quiet, residential area, but it takes only fifteen minutes to walk into the village. Shop in the local stores and perhaps pop into a cafe for a slice of cake and a coffee. A coastal nine-minute walk will bring you to Kelenn beach, where you can soak up the sun in the warmer months. You can even walk to Callot Island at low tide, or take a boat trip to the enchanting Chateau du Taureau. If you’ve had your fill of nautical activities, explore the town’s charming galleries and be sure to catch the famous Thursday market.

Situated in charming Carantec in Brittany, this apartment is 400 metres (a nine-minute stroll) from Kelenn Beach, while the Golf de Carantec course is thirteen minutes on foot. There are plenty of shops and restaurants on your doorstep too. Other places of interest include Saint Pol de Léon, located ten kilometres away, and Roscoff, under a twenty-five-minute drive from this home.



I Fell in Love at the Seaside	

In the heart of Carantec, this traditional house is located 150 meters from the famous Chaise du Curé. Not only this, but you'll have fabulous panoramic views of Callot Island and the bull's castle from inside the house. We love the cosy charm, and warm ambience felt across the space here – each and every room boasts its own character and is complete with comfortable furnishings to help you disconnect, unwind and recharge your batteries in style. 

To the house's rear is a pretty enclosed garden filled with Hydrangeas and a sheltered and sunny terrace area. Enjoy blissful summer afternoons over group barbecues, alfresco meals and lounging in the sun. In the garden, you'll also find a swing for two children to make to lap up whenever you please. 

You'll find the local beach, town centre's shops and restaurants only a five-minute walk away, and the Carantec farmer's market, which runs every Thursday morning. Also, discover the pier and bay of Morlaix and the Chateau du Taureau, also within five minutes of walking distance.

Roscoff's reputation as a ferry port is well-known but it's a town where many tourists are now choosing to stop and explore rather than drive on through to a distant destination. And this modern villa in a quiet, residential neighbourhood is a great place to call home during your stay, with crisp, contemporary lines and smart styling. Built for easy indoor-outdoor living, in summer its terrace is a perfect sun trap, with a covered outdoor eating area, barbecue and sun loungers. And of course, there's the added bonus of a heated private pool.

Inside, it's minimal, bright and family-friendly, with a sociable layout and a big kitchen with everything you'll need for cooking at home. Throughout the ground floor, black-framed sliding doors can open the villa right up to the terrace, and at night you can close the blinds at the touch of a button. Best of all, thanks to its four big bedrooms, there's room here for a group of friends or a couple of families sharing – the kids will love the double bunk room.

Just a short walk from the town's shops, restaurants and other amenities, you'll also be within easy reach of Roc'h Kroum beach with the city of Brest around an hour's drive away.

Life is a Journey

While the Mediterranean beaches in the south of France are constantly lauded, the ruggedly beautiful seaside spots at the top end of the country are underrated by comparison. If you want to see a splendid example of one such resort, this home in Sables-d'Or-les-Pins will convert almost anybody.

There's almost something quite rustic about the address, whether it's the large tree-filed garden surrounding the house or the pretty stone facade. Behind the front door, it's a little more contemporary than you might imagine, with the sort of stark white walls, smart wooden floors and sleek kitchen surfaces that wouldn't look out of place in a stylish city apartment. Saying that, the living room's large window and feature fireplace add a level of cosiness, although sadly the latter is only decorative.

Such is the humble size of the local town, the bulk of the attractions and conveniences are only a short walk away. The main beach is 1km, for instance, while there are tennis and golf facilities all of two minutes away on foot. In the centre of town, there's a small selection of restaurants and bars to tide you over during your visit.

This beautiful home with its quaint wooden shutters, feature fireplace and wooden beams is utterly charming. At its heart, an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area is the perfect place for making memories with loved ones. In colder months, gather for a hearty breakfast around the dining table as the fire crackles and glows beside you. When it’s time to put your feet up, the generous corner sofa ensures there’s plenty of space for all to snuggle and recount tales of the day’s adventures. 

Our favourite spot here has to be the garden. It’s just the place to retreat to when you need a little quiet time. Settle down on a sun lounger with a glass of French wine and a good book, and get lost in a story for a few hours. In such a tranquil setting and with the quiet of nature surrounding you, it’s a blissful way to spend the day. As evening starts to call, you may decide to gather everyone for a spot of alfresco dining, where you can watch the sky dance through an array of colours as the sun slowly starts its descent. 

When it’s time to tear yourself away from this quiet retreat, take a ten-minute stroll and you’ll find yourself on the beautiful 7km sandy stretch of Berneuf beach. Sink your feet into the sand and take in a deep breath of sea air, as calmness washes over you. You’ll never want to leave.

This is one of those homes that will have you completely smitten before you've even stepped foot behind the front door. Sitting within huge grounds just off the coastline in Sables D'or les Pins, there are gorgeous sea views to be had from the garden and no shortage of spots from which to appreciate this peaceful coastal setting, including a large terrace with a barbecue and dining table ready and waiting for feasts that stretch long into the evening.

The scenery is no less pretty out through the large windows inside and one of the first-floor bedrooms is treated to a balcony as well so you can get a blast of sea air the very moment you wake up. However, don't forget to lavish a little attention on the carefully put-together interior, which is both contemporary and quirky. Cleansingly white walls and ceilings play host to an eclectic collection of artwork and lighting fixtures, while the bright red bathtub is certainly eye-catching, too.

As you would hope given the proximity of La Manche, the home enjoys direct access to the beach, which feels almost like an extension of the garden. In the other direction, there are shops, restaurants and markets just over five minutes' walk from the home, as well as other attractions a short drive away – Les Jardins de Ker Louis can be reached in a quarter of an hour, for instance.

This is a great spot for exploring the pink granite coast of Côtes d'Armor – you’ll be less than a mile from the sea – or taking advantage of the hiking trails in and around Langueux, to discover the beautiful bay of Saint-Brieuc.
