Once you've finished flitting between the two, you can rest up in the cosy summer house. The host has put together a list of local therapists and this private space is perfect for treatments. Back inside, there's plenty of equipment to keep those particular about their coffee happy, including an espresso machine, milk frother, percolator, grinder and fresh beans from a local roaster. When you're feeling suitably caffeinated, the charming seaside town of Margate is waiting to be explored. The main beach takes about a quarter of an hour to reach on foot, as does the Dreamland Amusement Park, which often hosts concerts, club nights and events.

Designed in a chic, boutique-style manner, the whole space feels brilliantly modern while retaining a sense of vintage charm that so aptly reflects Margate’s seaside fame. We love the bright living room with its large windows that provide the most spectacular sunset views across the Winter Gardens and out towards the sea, best enjoyed on the sofa with a glass of wine or through the handy telescope provided. Full of fun decorative details that subtly nod to the coast, this space is made for relaxation and easy-going socialising. Our other favourite spot for sea-sighting is in the beautiful master bedroom where an armchair invites you to curl up on it with a good book and enjoy the rolling of the waves from yet another angle. Factor in the sunny kitchen and the sparkling blue and white bathroom and you’ve got everything you need for a blissful coastal break. Outside of your home, you’re just a six-minute walk from the Turner Contemporary art gallery, an eight-minute stroll from the Main Sands beach, while the Dreamland Margate amusement park is fifteen minutes on foot from your door.

Two of the things that the Kent town of Deal is most famous for is its castle and stretch of pebbly coastline. As it happens, both of these things are visible through the big bay window in the lounge of this apartment. Back inside, the decor is simple, but every aspect has been executed so well. Wooden floorboards and white walls provide a classy backdrop against which colourful furnishings and photographic artwork pop off. The kitchen is pretty large considering the address is only for two, so you'll be able to flex your culinary muscles with no trouble. The presence of a bathtub is also sure to be appreciated after a long day frolicking about on the beach, which sits at the end of the street. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance, too.

Taking up the two floors of a Victorian townhouse, this home has a lovely view of Deal Castle out through the window. Inside, there's plenty to hold your attention, too. The white walls and wooden floorboards work very well with the ample amounts of natural light that come in through the windows on either side of the long, open living space. There's a charming collection of nautical-themed pieces of artwork and trinkets dotted about the space, as well as a pair of bathtubs that are sure to tempt you upon coming back through the front door after a long day exploring this quaint seaside town. The pier is eight minutes' walk along the pebbly beach and you'll spot some of the wide array of restaurants and pubs that Deal has to offer along the way.

If you're in the mood to cook, the blue and yellow kitchen has everything you'll need, so let your culinary skills run wild. On sunny days, enjoy your feast in the garden, which is shielded from the main house by clever bamboo screens. There's even a desk in the bedroom if you need to do some remote working. But our favourite part is the location – you're just a fifteen-minute walk from Deal Castle Beach and the wonderful Kent coastline. Enjoy a delicious meal at one of the many seaside restaurants, shop the local boutiques, browse the many art galleries and enjoy a romp around Deal Castle. With the rest of the White Cliffs Country easily accessed by car, it's the ideal spot for a romantic retreat by the sea.

A twelve-minute walk from Martin Mill train station, in a tiny village of the same name, this home is not only ideal for history buffs, but anyone who is a fan of a tipple. Built in 1610, this traditional boozer hosts locals every evening, but can also play host to four guests in its private apartment. Above this working pub, pick up a pint of English ale to sample before making your way around this striking abode. You’ll find rich leather sofas, vintage upholstered armchairs, a gramophone, Persian rugs, and cabinets and shelves full of curios. A truly unique stay, this home really transports you back hundreds of years, steeped in British tradition and exactly the eclectic vibe you’d hope for. Finish your pint in the back garden, with its picnic benches and lush lawns, where you'll probably find yourself chatting to one of the regulars. If you fancy an escape from pub life, drive ten minutes to Dover – visit its medieval castle, or admire its iconic White Cliffs.

If a sea view is what you're after, this home will not disappoint. Perched on a clifftop in Birchington-on-Sea, the coastal scenery can be admired from most of the rooms. Our favourite viewpoint is the conservatory – we can't think of a better spot to enjoy a cup of tea and watch the tide roll in. Outside, the fuss-free garden offers space for kids and pups to let loose. Ready to explore? Birchington has two tidal shores that are ideal for walking and rockpooling. For a proper day at the beach, we suggest heading over to Margate, just 4 miles away.

This charming home was once a favourite pub for weary fishermen at the end of their shift, right on the pebbles of Kingsdown Beach. If you fancy a real ale or cold pint after a day on the beach, don’t worry, the current local pub is just two doors down. If you want a bit more choice, head to the seafood restaurants and swanky bars of Deal, an hour’s walk along the seaside promenade, or an eight-minute drive.

The home itself is packed with little treats and surprises. There’s the beachside garden out the back, where you can pad barefoot from the outdoor dining terrace straight onto the shingle of Kingsdown Beach for a paddle in the sea. Then there’s the secret sauna, tucked down an old alleyway. The pretty little sunroom is furnished with floral armchairs and a vintage-style radio to listen to the Shipping Forecast while gazing out to sea. We love the kitchen and living room, which is packed with vintage pieces and has the air of an old fisherman’s cottage. Poking about through the extensive vinyl collection and browsing the cookbooks is a particular delight.

There are all the obligatory cottage features here – starting with that log burner and a pretty walled garden outside. Along with refreshing flashes of modernity too. You didn’t expect mid-century antiques and a record player with vinyl in a sleepy hideaway in Kent, did you? Seek out Walmer Castle just along the seafront (the gardens are as impressive as the Tudor fortress). Then carry along the coastal promenade into Deal – its iconic pier and bustling high street with boutique shops and artisan delis is an afternoon well spent.

The home is ideally located for a large family or group of friends wanting to explore the 'garden of England' – with Ramsgate Harbour and the beach just a stroll away. Nearby, you can experience all the fun of the fair at Dreamland – home to the UK's oldest rollercoaster – or admire stunning works of art in the Turner Contemporary, both on Margate's seafront. From the outside, it's a quintessential fisherman's cottage, but that's where the olde-worlde vibes end. Sensitively and lovingly restored by a London power couple – a chef-restaurateur and a landscape designer – the home has been transformed into a light-filled, modern space full of creative touches. While those all-important original fireplaces, sash windows, and wooden floorboards remain, everything else has been reimagined. Downstairs, there's a pitched roof dining space with a contemporary free-standing kitchen made for action, leading into a bijou but perfectly formed garden crammed with exotic palms. Upstairs, there are three surprisingly spacious bedrooms spread out over two floors and a modern shower room. And when it's time to hit the beach, you won't have far to go – it's just a one-minute amble away - as is the bustling high street for cream teas and local antique browsing. Or, for a hefty dose of nostalgia, stroll along to the promenade to buy fish and chips, gamble two-pence pieces in the arcades, and treat yourself to a double cone at the ice cream parlour – it would be rude not to.

Located in the picturesque village of Ash, this farmhouse is a gorgeous escape, best suited for a large family or a group of friends who love the Kent countryside. The architecture hasn't changed much since the house was built well over a century ago, and you can still see a variety of period features, even though the home has recently undergone a careful refurbishment. This is most obvious in the homey kitchen with its hanging pots and pans, supported by a beautiful vaulted ceiling, as well as the antique fireplace in the living room. Thanks to the size of the garden, everyone can find their little spot and relax alone, or get together for an alfresco meal freshly cooked on the barbecue. But our favourite space has to be the library, where you can browse the host's wide collection of titles and pretend you're the Lord or Lady of the manor. There's a local pub just a few minutes away if you're in need of refreshment, along with a village shop. Plus, with the medieval town of Sandwich just a ten-minute drive away, along with a nearby golf course and wildlife park, there's plenty to entertain the whole family.

For days spent relaxing at home, this cottage is a bookworm’s dream – after all, reading is dreaming with open eyes. Shelves stacked with classic literature invite you to browse the spines, pull out a book and sink into the armchair to get lost in a story – if you’re anything like us, you could spend days, not just hours, in this comfortable spot, escaping to other worlds. We absolutely love how the host's personal style shines through this home, but it's so beautifully done that anyone can appreciate it. It's clear that a lot of love has gone into this, from the wallpapered panels in the cosy living room to the toys in the third bedroom. Even the bathrooms are an interior design marvel. The home is perfectly twee and cheerful, ideal for a family to spend a lovely seaside getaway.

You'll love mornings in your bright cottage. For an extra special breakfast, why not take the short two-minute walk to the High Street and pick up pastries from the bakery, maybe even some sausages and bacon from the butchers? Take them back home for a beautiful spread out in the fabulously decorated courtyard, feeling the morning sun on your face as you sip your fresh coffee. Then, when it's time to explore, just walking around the colourful streets of Deal is a treat. You could take the short fifteen-minute walk to Deal Castle before eating classic fish and chips on the beach. And if you like contemporary art, you'll love it here – the Linden Hall Studio is just a five-minute walk away and full of mesmerising art, etchings, and sculptures. Come nighttime, Deal offers plenty of artsy bars and buzzing restaurants to tickle your fancy. Or, enjoy a relaxed dinner at home, there's something about cooking in this kitchen that can transport you to another time.

Tucked away on a quiet pedestrianised lane just off the winding streets of Deal, the flower-adorned way to the front door will feel like a hug for your soul. Stepping inside the home, you’ll notice a homely blend of traditional exposed beams and a brick fireplace that now houses a little wood-burning stove, alongside more modern furnishings.

With the beach minutes away, you might spend days sunbathing or walking the pier and promenade with soft serve in hand, but we recommend time at home to simply unwind with a good book as you curl up on the sofa. Take your morning coffee out into the small courtyard and enjoy the peace and quiet as you take your very first sip. Dine out there when the weather plays ball, and when it doesn’t, you can always kindle a fire and play board games or watch a movie together. 

There’s a number of boutique shops and cafes around to explore when you’re out and about, and with the local pub only a stone’s throw away, you can swing by on most days for a lunch and a pint.

Friends, couples, and small families will feel right at home in this coastal apartment. Just minutes from your doorstep lie the golden beaches of Ramsgate, while the town's selection of shops and trendy eateries are easily reachable on foot. The cosy patio has space to sit with a morning coffee or an alfresco lunch, and both bedrooms benefit from en-suites. You'll find street parking outside, but day trips are a breeze even without a car. Bus stops and Ramsgate Rail Station are within walking distance, offering regular services to Margate, Broadstairs, and the charming city of Canterbury.

This charming cottage sits on a chalk headland within the grounds of a lighthouse above Broadstairs. You'll be glad to know this lighthouse doesn't have a fog signal, so there'll be no jumping out of your skin. You may leap for joy, though, when you see the shared one-acre lawned garden and patio (all set well away from the cliffs, so the property is child-friendly too). Inside the home, there are some lovely views from upstairs, but we'd say the kitchen is quite narrow in areas, though it's well-equipped. Or if you prefer to eat out, there's a pub within a ten-minute stroll. Nearby, Broadstairs has sandy beaches and an old town to explore too.

Gaze out over Viking Bay from this modern beachfront apartment. Tucked away beneath the scenic clifftop promenade, this top-floor pad offers unmatched access to the golden sands of Broadstairs' horseshoe-shaped beach and the independent boutiques, charming cafes and fantastic restaurants that line its narrow streets.

Wake up to stunning sunrises in the main en-suite bedroom before brewing yourself a coffee and sitting out on the private balcony as the seabirds circle overhead. If it's a little chilly, you can still enjoy the vistas from the comfort of the leather sofa or elect to stay in bed and enjoy a slow start to the day.

Plan your afternoon over breakfast at the Ercol dining table and chairs, backed by a large mirrored wall that reflects the already ample daylight into the room. Elsewhere, a chic baby blue kitchen contains all you might need to make homemade meals. However, with everything from fuss-free fish & chips to fine dining to choose from on your doorstep and in nearby Margate, you might not be spending much time in it.

While Margate is a short drive away, we'd suggest taking your time and following the Viking Trail along expansive beaches and steep chalk cliffs all the way to its sheltered harbour. From here, you're perfectly placed to visit the Turner Contemporary and wander the quaint Old Town, where you can take your pick from several outstanding eateries (though we'd recommend booking ahead) before boarding a bus or catching a taxi back to Broadstairs.

Mesmerising sea views are what steal the show at this fabulously located Margate apartment. Any closer to the water and you'd be swimming in it – at least, that's how it feels from the comfy seats in the big bay window. It's the perfect spot to relax with a cup of tea or a glass of wine and watch the tides change – or, if you're in town on business, you'll find it makes an excellent desk, although, with vistas like that, we'd definitely focus more on the scenery than our work.

As impressive as the panoramas are, they're not the only reason this apartment caught our eye. It's filled with light and boasts sleek, contemporary decoration inspired by the coast. Unwind on the blue sofa after a long walk along the shore, rustle up a hearty meal in the stylish kitchen and, come bedtime, retreat to the cosy bedrooms (two of which face the seaside) and fall asleep to the gentle lull of the waves.

As for location, it's as ideal as can be. You're just five minutes on foot from Walpole Tidal Pool, ten from Palm Bay Beach and twenty-two from Margate Main Sands. Northdown Road has an array of shops, pubs and restaurants – it's a ten-minute stroll away – with plenty more eateries and activities to choose from in the centre, also within easy reach.

Have you ever had a bath under the watchful eye of an albino lioness? Well, us neither, but that's about to change because we can't wait to book a stay at this outlandish beachside home. Once inside you'll find it hard to believe this was once a 19th-century fisherman's cottage - the owners have done an extraordinary job transforming in into an East London-style design palace with statement House of Hackney-style wallpaper, taxidermy animals, sculptural lighting and artwork that you'd expect to see in the Saatchi Gallery (we're talking Tracy Emin and Peter Blake originals). But for all the provocative design choices, this home is wonderfully liveable - style has certainly not been prioritised over comfort. In the bedrooms, King-sized beds are perfected with exceptional Egyptian cotton bedding. In the living room, we loved the butter softness of the velvet sofas - they're an absolute dream to relax on. And that zinc bathtub next to the lioness guarantees the most luxurious - and memorable - soak of your life. With so much going on inside it's easy to forget that this home has an unrivalled location right on the beach at Kingsdown (the sea views from the master bedroom are divine), but for an unforgettable beach escape, this dramatic home is impossible to beat.

Nestled into the vast Kent countryside, this whitewashed cottage is every bit as wholesome as you'd want from a country getaway. With beautiful gardens, an original fireplace, and farmhouse-style furniture, it's the perfect place to recharge. This home isn't without its mod-cons though, with underfloor heating, a coffee machine, and fast wifi, there's everything you need for a comfortable stay.

We love how sociable this home is – the ideal setting for a family getaway or a group of friends to reunite. Cosy armchairs provide the perfect spot for late-night catch-ups, a lovely dining table is fitting for dinners, drinks, and board games, while the kitchen is big enough for everyone to pitch in when preparing meals. And while we love the cottage's warm and comforting interior, the gardens really make this home sing. There's more than enough space for the little ones to run around while the grown-ups refresh the jug of Pimms and work on the barbecue. There's even space for a friendly game of rounders. 

If you're up early enough, you can catch an incredible sunrise from the front garden. But if not (you're on holiday after all), pull up a seat in the back garden for the most wonderful sunset, with whirling shades of pink and orange sinking into the Kent countryside. 

This is a really beautiful area. The quaint town of Sandwich is just a ten-minute drive away and is widely considered one of the best preserved medieval towns in England. Head to Sandwich Bay for windy walks on the beach, before tucking into some traditional fish and chips. 

Away in the Country

Nestled along a country lane a three-minute walk from Kingsdown Beach, this gorgeous family home is all about gazing seaward and relaxing in style. The interiors were carefully crafted by designer Michelle Kelly, who has expertly paired Victoriana-inspired florals with punchy colour combinations and finished off the look with hand-picked vintage furniture and accessories. Mornings here begin with breakfast in the sunroom, tucking into produce from the farm shop in Walmer, while typical Sundays involve bracing dips in the sea and giant roast dinners around the ten-seater dining table. A garden calls for barbecues and picnics when the weather’s right and the bedrooms’ balconies offer quiet moments to watch the tide come in over the horizon. If exploring is on the agenda, Dover is a fifteen-minute drive south and trendy Deal takes no more than ten, due north – you could walk it in just over an hour if you fancy stretching your legs. 

Hollyhocks By The Sea

Located in the idyllic village of Kingsdown, this home offers up to eight guests the opportunity to escape to the Kentish coast for some well-deserved rest and relaxation. You couldn't be better placed for long walks along the shingle beach with your furry pal – best ended at the dog-friendly Zetland Arms. The interior has been lovingly renovated by your hosts. Every element of this quaint cottage has been designed with you in mind. The highlight of the home is undoubtedly the open kitchen/dining room that looks out onto the garden. Where better to come for culinary inspiration than the 'garden of England'? With splendidly high ceilings, cosy bedrooms and picturesque sea views – what more could you want from a relaxing trip to the coast? 
If you feel the urge to explore further afield, you're just a short drive from the coastal town of Deal with an abundance of beaches and beautiful walks in between, while Folkestone entices visitors with its thriving artist community and a unique selection of independent shops, approximately half an hour's drive away.

There's bucket loads of character at this historic home in Deal's pretty Middle Street Conservation Area. Set along a row of pastel-coloured terraced houses, this unique space was once an Ale House, and thanks to its Grade II-listed status, it has maintained plenty of its original features including exposed brick chimney breasts, beamed ceilings and a charming façade with gold leaf signage. Inside, a quirky layout awaits with two separate buildings connected by a central courtyard and a Moroccan-tiled hallway, with two bedrooms in the main house and the living area and a further bedroom in the mezzanine building. It’s a brilliant home for families as the kids will love the multiple levels, the playful attic bedroom and the comfy sofas to curl up on for movie nights. Georgian features mixed with colourful vintage details make it a cheery space to come home to after fun at the beach or days exploring the coast (a five-minute stroll away), and when you’re not out tasting the fresh fish and seafood on offer at one of the nearby restaurants, the cottage-style kitchen and dining room are great for gathering around for meals at the old oak table. With playful pops of pink, green, and other bright colours, this pad is full of personality. You'll have everything you need here to settle in comfortably, from a well-appointed kitchen to a lush soaker bath. The twin beds in the second bedroom can be transformed into a king upon request, making this flexible for families or friends. As for location, Walpole Bay's sandy beach is a short walk away. You're also close to shops, eateries, and Margate's vibrant Old Town.

Neptune's Nook

Carefully and creatively decorated, this home in Deal is, well, kind of a big deal. Not only is it close to the seafront, beach and pier but it’s got a private  south-facing garden complete with subtropical plants and two seating areas to enjoy. Its indoors are just as tempting too with plenty of bespoke details, including heritage paint, a terrazzo worktop in the kitchen, a cosy wood burner and underfloor heating to keep your toes toasty all year round.   In this eco-conscious household all hand washes and shower gels are refillable, natural and organic. Little ones will enjoy sharing the bunk beds in the third bedroom, while we’re certain grow-ups will relish a soak in the tub – perhaps with a glass of wine – after a busy day spent on the coast.
