Once used as a workshop by a local carpenter, this stone cottage has been lovingly restored to its former glory by his daughter.  The intimate terrace, jacuzzi and swimming pool are the highlights of this idyllic hideaway. Couples can get a taste of Dordogne by shopping for truffles and Foie Gras at the medieval market town of Sarlat or strolling through The Marqueyssac gardens. Lovers of history will enjoy visiting local Châteaux, prehistoric cave paintings and the Roman artefacts at Vesunna.

The Carpenter’s Daughter

Right upstairs from a row of restaurants and cafes, this little home not only has a fantastic location going for it, but it also peers right out onto Old Port. Wake up early morning and open the window to let the fresh breeze in as you brew a coffee. With the beautiful aroma still lingering, get back in bed with a book and spend a lazy morning getting lost in a pirate novel. When you’re ready, head downstairs to any of the eateries for breakfast before setting off to explore the historic city centre. We recommend doing this by foot, so you can easily stop to take the perfect holiday photos, but if you want to hire a bike, La Rochelle is a great city for it. A slow stroll to the shops will allow you to really take in the Renaissance patrician houses and old half-timbered houses that stand shoulder to shoulder here. 

There’s an aquarium, bowling alley, and exhibitions to visit too, but we won’t argue if the waterfront is where you want to be. Return to the quay as you have a drink at one of the cafes or stop off to buy a pain au chocolat – or five – to take back to the apartment. After a refreshing shower, simply collapse into the plush sofa as you munch and read.

Portside

Located on the ground floor of a traditional Basque home, this apartment is close enough to the sea to be blessed by the gentle ocean breeze, yet far enough away that you aren't faced with tourist crowds the moment you step outside. The interior is cute and compact, with everything a couple could need for a romantic coastal retreat. There's a sofa in the multi-purpose kitchen/dining/living area, and both this space and the bedroom enjoy direct access to a lovely patio with outdoor seating that's perfect for alfresco meals morning, noon and night. The location couldn't be more convenient with the nearest beaches, city centre and airport just a five-minute drive or half-hour walk away, while the train station is even closer. Biarritz's six beaches are the headline attraction, and its outstanding location on the Bay of Biscay means the city has become the surfing capital of Europe. For those who want a less strenuous time at the seaside, the golden stretches of sand offer great places to relax, take a dip or simply soak up the sun.

Aurresku

Step inside this beautiful Bordeaux apartment, and you’ll be utterly charmed. Small but mighty, it has everything you need to set yourself up for a well-deserved break exploring the famed wine region.

One thing that caught our eye was how effortlessly this home seems to mix contemporary with classic. Beamed ceilings, exposed stonework and feature fireplaces sit happily alongside modern furniture pieces. Bathed in creams and whites and with large windows ushering the light in, this is a very bright yet calming space. Pops of colour are provided here and there through scatter cushions and eclectic artwork. 

When it’s time to explore the city, you’ll find most of what you seek on your doorstep. Head out into the historic streets and alleyways, and you can find antique dealers and art galleries mixed in with cafes and beautiful restaurants. And of course, when in Bordeaux, wine tasting is a must. 

After a day of visiting vineyards, picture yourself back at home, tucked up on the sofa with a glass of Bordeaux’s finest, reminiscing on a day well spent with your loved ones. As evening calls, head to your cosy bed, sink into your mattress and you’ll feel yourself relax instantly – you’re guaranteed a restful night’s sleep.

Claret & Cream

This cosy and tranquil pad is a wonderful option for a romantic getaway or a small family stay, with easy access to all the highlights of its gorgeous setting. This corner of France is renowned for its many natural wonders, as well as being a surfer’s dream – and it’s all at your fingertips here. 

The open-plan living room gets plenty of natural light thanks to the huge windows which open directly onto the private garden. Lounge about on the comfy sofa and enjoy evenings of French wine and movie nights in the company of your loved one. You’ll be able to rustle up delicious meals in the well-equipped kitchenette – share them at the indoor dining table or outside in the shadow of the beautiful trees.

While the bedroom may be small in scale, it offers a cosy vibe and a soft bed – wake up restored and get ready to explore the area. Outside your door, you’ll find yourself in the perfect location for reaching the ocean, as well as the forest, which lies just across the fence. Rent a bike and venture down the famous trails or for a day of city strolls you’ll have the choice between the coastal grandeur of Biarritz and the quiet charm of Bayonne, both within a fifteen-minute drive away. 

The Silver Dunes

This smart apartment in the heart of the Bordeaux's Grands Hommes district is just a few steps from the bustling Cours de l'Intendance and Rue Sainte Catherine, so you can check out its many high-end shops, mini-markets, fabulous restaurants and the Grand Théâtre with ease. The home's been designed with comfort in mind, so you'll soon make the space your own. From the outside, it's a beautiful stone building, dating back to the 19th-century, but stepping through the front door you'll find a clean-cut flat with sleek, contemporary finishes. 

An open-plan layout makes for seamless modern living, where you can be cooking up a meal in the island kitchen, fitted with timelessly elegant marble countertops, while keeping up with conversation in the living space. Here, the stylish furnishings, palm-themed design and waxed houseplants create the perfect spot to unwind and debrief after a long day of sightseeing. We love the funky wallpaper prints and colourful tones throughout the home, especially in the dedicated desk and home office space, perfect for those visiting on business. 

Green Grape

Few things sounds more romantic than a cottage situated in the middle of wine country, where the endless vineyards sprawl and birds chirp. Perfect for a long-awaited holiday away from the kids or a getaway for a budding romance, the home is small but its surroundings are vast and baby-blue French shutters are ever-so charming. Escape right out to the private gardens from the pastel bedroom. After days lounging by the pool or drifting in the nearby river, take the bikes to one of two nearby towns to explore gothic churches and to pick up local delicacies like fresh truffles and a bottle (or two) of wine for enjoyment on the stone terrace. Intimacy is the emphasis here, and we can guarantee this home as a perfect start to a French-inspired love story. 

Gardenia

Blossoming through the hedges, this charming home in the quiet French town of Bidart is the perfect spot to enjoy one another’s company. The open-plan kitchen, living room and dining area radiates ocean aesthetics, with its coastal motifs and the calming colours of the azure, to create a peaceful and eloquent interior. Bathing the apartment in natural light, large French doors open out to an idyllic patio area – soak up the sunshine on the two loungers, and dine al fresco long into balmy summer evenings. Wonderfully located, everything is within arm’s reach – from a fresh bakery down the road to a surplus of restaurants, cafes and bars nearby. With multiple cycling paths, why not go on a romantic spin around this beautiful part of the world. Stroll down to the sandy shores at Bidart beach, mere steps from the home. 

Our Little Secret

Located in the heart of Bordeaux's beautiful old town, this apartment embodies the class, style, and chicness of this city. The old stone building is the perfect first impression of Bordeaux, and stepping inside the apartment only confirms that this place is a gem of a find.

We love the classic details here – the original stone brick wall, the quintessentially French windows and the frame around the mirror. It's met with a modern design style that beautifully encapsulates the city – classic yet youthful. Your balcony offers a view of the street below, a lovely spot for enjoying a fresh cup of coffee and engaging in everyone's favourite past-time, people-watching. 

When it comes to seeing the city, you couldn't ask for a better location. You're a mere 200 metres from the lively Rue Sainte Catherine, the city's main artery, bursting with boutiques and shops. You're also steps away from Place Fernand Lafargue, lined with cafes and eateries. In such a fantastic location, seeing the city's many historical sights and points of interest comes with ease.

After a day of exploring, you can easily make your way back to your apartment to relax before heading out for dinner. You'll love sipping on a local bottle of wine (when in Bordeaux) and snacking on olives around the industrial chic-style table, with the warm-toned light fixtures setting the tone. 

Sweet Drops

Nestled in a stone building dating back to the 19th century, there's plenty of character to fall in love with here – we're talking exposed stone walls, wooden beams and typical Parisian-style windows with wrought-iron balconettes. 

Come home after a long day, kick off your shoes and unwind in style. Prepare your own take on classic French dishes in the kitchen – best served, of course, with a glass of Bourdeaux's dry red at the stylish island. A soak in the bathtub is the perfect way to end the day, or simply snuggle up with a book on the sofa before bed, instead. 

Decanter

This apartment is located in the Miramar district of Biarritz, just 100m from the beach and sea. It's got stylish furnishings and all the essential amenities. One bedroom has a double bed and there's a sofa bed in the living area suitable for one child. Guests can enjoy partial views of the ocean from the apartment. It's conveniently located within walking distance of shops, restaurants, cafes, and public transportation. Additionally, it comes with reserved parking, which is fenced for added security. Please note that smoking is not allowed.

Located only two kilometres from small village and restaurant, Rustic Dordogne combines the peace of the pristine French countryside with the convenience of staying just a little closer to civilisation. In the evenings, cosy up by the fireplace and enjoy a movie together, then retreat to the regal bedrooms for a good night's rest.
