Clip straight into your skis and ratchet up those bindings at this stunning slopeside apartment. Split across two levels, on the ground and lower ground floors of a beautifully constructed apartment building, this spectacular five-bedroom home is just a ten-minute stroll from the centre of Courchevel Le Praz. 

Whether you're searching for fantastic snow conditions or prefer to hike and bike through verdant alpine valleys over the warmer months, this apartment is a four-season family retreat. The open layout of the wood-clad interior entices you to spend time together as a group, sharing stories of the day's adventures by the fireside or around the dining table. 

Floor-to-ceiling sliding doors flood the space with natural light and offer direct access to the garden so you can enjoy that warm spring and summer sunshine. Three of the five snug bedrooms also benefit from panoramic panes of glass that open out to the outdoors, allowing you to check the day's conditions from the comfort of your bed.

The lowest of Courchevel's four main villages, Le Praz, shows off a different side of Courchevel. Best known for its glitz and glamour, Le Praz offers a more authentic alpine village atmosphere. You might have to pinch yourself when first looking out at the views from this Swiss chalet. Whether it's through the double-height windows or out from the private balcony, the Swiss mountains rise in all their glory. You can look forward to cheese-filled dinners, using the home's raclette grill and fondue set, and curling up by the towering feature fireplace – the vistas of the peaks will backdrop everything you do. Bedrooms are simple and on the bottom floor, ensuring a good night's sleep before taking the ski bus (600m from the home) or setting off on a hike. There's only one deadline to adventures, and that's being back at the balcony for sunset over the snow-capped peaks.

Perfect Peaks

This stylish little studio apartment is right in the heart of historic Annecy. From your doorstep, you can step out into streets lined with wooden-shuttered buildings, where cafés spill out onto the pavement. An alpine town, Annecy is flanked by snow-capped mountains and perhaps the most picturesque spot is the stone Palais in the centre of the Le Thiou River – the view of which is best enjoyed from the riverside restaurants and gelaterias, a five-minute walk from this apartment. Although it’s a studio, the apartment itself feels spacious and it has plenty of character courtesy of the exposed brick wall and hardwood floor. A wall of windows lets in plenty of sunshine during the day and a room divider separates the living and bedroom area from the dine-in kitchen. There’s even a stylish, Scandinavian-esque desk if you want to work remotely. If you want to get around the compact town of Annecy in a flash, your host provides complimentary bikes for sightseeing. 

Alpine Brickwork

Offering guests an enticing mix of traditional mountain design and modern style, this chic three-bedroom apartment is the perfect family-friendly mountain escape. Whether you're visiting in the depths of winter in search of virgin powder or stopping off in the summer for breathtaking hikes and bone-shaking mountain bike trails, it's a true four-season escape.

While you won't find the ancient, gnarled beams of some of the vast chalets in this upscale French resort, its wood-clad walls pair perfectly with the mid-century-style furnishings and faux animal fur. The open layout provides a sociable sanctuary out of the elements. When the sun's shining, you're welcome to make the most of the spacious decking equipped with Acapulco chairs and a bubbling hot tub. Moreover, each of the three welcoming bedrooms offers its guests direct access to the deck, ideal for rushing back inside after a wintry dip in the water.

The apartment's location in Courchevel Moriond (formerly 1650) ensures easy access to some of the finest skiing in the French Alps, in the form of the titanic Les Trois Vallées. Meanwhile, the fact it's on the edge of this area means that the slopes are often quieter. After an adrenaline-fuelled day on the mountain, Moriond is known for its vibrant après-ski scene. In addition, it offers a variety of restaurants serving everything from homemade burgers to haute cuisine.

Ice Bear

This apartment is a one-of-a-kind ski retreat in the heart of Les Arcs, with ski-in/ski-out access directly onto the Cachette slope – making exploring the Paradiski area effortless. After a day on the mountain, unwind with the residence’s amenities, including a swimming pool, sauna and gym. There’s even a ski store so you can make sure you have everything you need. As it's facing the south-west, you can enjoy breathtaking views over the mountains and valley from the terrace. Bourg-Saint-Maurice is easily reached via the nearby funicular, and charming Alpine villages are just a short drive away.

Village View

This duplex apartment is pure Alpine bliss with a lengthy wooden balcony typical of Courcheval ski chalets and an interior of knotted pine wood and stone grey. The Scandinavian-style dining table is big enough for the whole group to gather for a post-slope hot drink and pristine, grey sofas are laden with faux fur cushions for that hygge feel. From the open-plan living area, glass double doors open up to the wooden balcony, letting the sunlight stream in during the day. Bedrooms continue the pine wood motif, creating cosy sleeping nooks for a good night’s rest before hitting the mountains on foot or by ski.   

From the balcony, you can spot the slopes snaking down the mountainside, awaiting keen skiers. This place is in Courchevel Moriond (formerly known as Courchevel 1650). It’s a friendly village ski resort with slopes for intermediate skiers, and a wider selection of ski runs can be found throughout the Three Valleys, within driving distance.
