In a family-friendly resort area in Les Menuires, this home is an ideal base for a mountain break – whether in summer or winter. From the balcony, you can enjoy views over the surrounding mountains and ski slopes, and with a south-facing location, there's sun all day. While the living room might be a tad cosy when the home is fully occupied, there's enough room at the dinner table for meals at home after a busy day on the peaks. The ski lift is just a short walk away, so you can be on the slopes in no time (the ski storage in the building is handy, too). Plus, there are supermarkets, restaurants, and a sports centre on your doorstep.

Savoie Serenity

Nestled on the slopes half a mile from Val Thorens, this three storey wooden cottage is a dream for friends and families seeking a supremely comfortable skiing holiday. The home is one of four maintained by the same host, and offers four bedrooms to allocate, a dedicated living room, dining area and kitchen, and a charming terrace overlooking the mountains perfect for scenic breakfasts and inspiring night time vistas. There's also central heating and an open-hearth fireplace for keeping nice and warm – and when you're ready to embrace the cold, you'll be within walking distance of one of Europe's most popular ski resorts.

Inviting Slopes

Majestic mountain views, a private Jacuzzi and quite the panorama – this home welcomes you to enjoy it all from Saint-Jorioz, just a 15-minute drive from Annecy. The terrace lends itself perfectly to barbecue meals and evening drinks, while the living room provides a cosy spot for movie nights. Private parking is available and you can follow hiking and cycle trails straight from the door. It’s also just a short drive into town where you’ll find a great selection of amenities. Adventure lovers will also appreciate the close proximity to the Alps' valleys. 

Moon Above Mountains

This beautiful home is perfectly positioned in a quiet, popular area of Annecy. The townhouse is 950 metres from the historic city centre and only a fifteen-minute walk from the lake. It was built in the 1930s and is full of character and charm, with everything you might need for a comfortable stay, including a well-equipped kitchen. The large garden, where you can admire mountain views, play games, and cook on the barbecue, is ideal for families. 

Annecy Rose

This contemporary cabin makes it easy to experience the majestic beauty of the Alps' valleys. Outside, you can enjoy incredible mountain views onto the Parmelan, Annecy's imposing limestone plateau. There’s a barbecue for alfresco dining and you’ll find all the essentials you could need to settle in and unwind. Inside, the rooms are simple, family-friendly and with plenty of space to socialise and stretch out. You will need a car to get around here, but it’s less than a fifteen-minute drive to Menthon-Saint-Bernard beach as well as the centre of Annecy where you’ll find a great selection of amenities. 

The Parmelan

If you're looking for a quirky place to stay during a getaway to the French Alps, then this unique home could be the one for you. It's a traditional mazot house, built above ground and supported by stilts, just outside Les Houches – for lovers of the great outdoors, it doesn't get much better than this. 

Inside, the wood-panelled walls create a toasty ambiance where you can settle in and rest your tired legs. The decor is simple yet comfortable, and you can cook up your favourite dishes in the kitchen to refuel after a busy day. The bedroom is cosy, and even has a glass floor panel overlooking the kitchen diner so you can wave hello to your guests. And, if you head outside, there is a private terrace with views across to Mont Blanc, along with a shared garden where kids can play in the fresh air. 

Le Prarion lift is only a five-minute drive away, so you can don your skis and enjoy a brilliant day shredding some powder on the slopes. When it's time for some après-ski fun, then head into Les Houches or take the eight-minute drive over to the famous resort of Chamonix, with its upmarket restaurants and decadent bars. And, during the warmer months, there is a wealth of activities right on your doorstep – from horse riding and mountain biking to rock climbing and even paragliding, you won't run out of things to do easily. 

Mazot in the Mountains

Right in the heart of France's Three Valleys lies Courchevel, one of the most famous ski resorts in the Alps. Powder fresh pistes, miles and miles of ski runs and one of the longest ski seasons in the area will impress those keen to hit the slopes. You'll find this apartment in the village, just a stone's throw from lifts, gourmet restaurants and eateries. As far as locales go, you can't beat it.

When you're not exploring this idyllic corner of the Alps, make yourself comfortable back at home. The balcony is actually our favourite spot – the snow-capped mountain view is incredibly hard to resist. Regardless of the weather, we think it's the ideal backdrop for sunset glasses of French wine and steaming mugs of hot chocolate – sounds postcard-perfect to us.

Inside, the chalet-chic design evokes that warm and homey feeling as soon as you step inside – picture wood-clad walls, faux fur throws and a gleaming contemporary kitchen that's a dream for whipping up family feasts. There are catering options available here, too – whether you fancy pre-made breakfasts, Michelin-starred dinners delivered straight to your door or a private chef, you'll be well looked after by your friendly hosts.

Alpine Twilight

In a great location near a ski lift, this apartment puts you right in the heart of the alpine action. It’s compact yet comfortable, with a kitchen-diner for après-ski meals and space for a family or group of friends (two will sleep on the sofa bed and pull-out bed in the living area). Staying here gives you access to some handy amenities too, including a shared sauna and a place to store your skis. For a fuss-free stay close to the slopes, this is a practical pick.
