Boasting stunning views over the picturesque wooded hillsides of the Massif des Maures, this stone farmhouse has lots of space inside and out. Two of the single beds are up on a mezzanine level and younger children may need supervision on some of the staircases. That said, the kitchen is well equipped for family meals, and pets are welcome to join you. Sun loungers surround the infinity pool, and the large garden has room for alfresco dining. There's plenty of peace and quiet here, so we think you'll want a car for trips to Saint-Tropez, Nice, and Cannes.

A tranquil escape in the South of France, this country villa is a dream destination. It’s located on the outskirts of the village of Fayence, close to Tourrettes and just thirty minutes from Cannes. Cyclists will love being so close to so many trails, while watersports enthusiasts will enjoy kayaking and swimming at nearby Lac de Saint-Cassien. The villa is beautiful, with lush gardens and outside space – we love the private pool and the alfresco dining terrace. You’ll have everything you need here, from games for little ones to a piano for musically-inclined guests.

Located on a vineyard, this traditional stone home is surrounded by greenery. The pool here is shared, but there are plenty of loungers to go around, and you’ll also have a private terrace to enjoy. While the bedroom set-up won’t suit everyone –  two of the rooms have three single beds, and the double room is in a separate building – we think it would work well for a group or large family. Location-wise, you’re 5 kilometres from the market town of Draguignan, and historic Lourges, with its Medieval centre, is a 16-kilometre drive away.

Well, those views over La Croissete and the stunning French Riviera speak for themselves, don't they? The spacious terrace is great for soaking up the sun, but it only has two loungers, so you may have to negotiate who gets them if you're a group of four. We love that the main bedroom opens onto the patio – perfect for a morning coffee. Inside, the decor is quite traditional, so it may not suit modernistas – having said that, it's been nicely done. We haven't talked about the location yet – it's excellent. La Croisette Beach and Promenade are just a short stroll away. Or discover all of the chic boutiques and restaurants in the heart of Cannes nearby.

The village of Valbonne is just a thirty-minute drive inland from incredible Côte d’Azur scenery like the city of Cannes and its beautiful beaches. It’s also less than twenty minutes from Grasse, also known as the home of perfume. With such wonderful sights and smells in the region, it’s no surprise that this sensational experience continues at home. This loft is set in the heart of the quaint, traditional town. We love its stony exterior with typically French blue wooden shutters, which continues inside. All the interior walls display this fantastic exposed brickwork, with vaulted wooden ceilings and shiny stone floors. When the sun goes down, you can head up to the mezzanine bedroom. Parquet flooring and warm lighting make it feel cosy – perfect for slumbering after a long day of exploring the delights of the town and the coastal region.

You’ll be perfectly located for exploring the French Riviera, and will have a comfortable space to call home when you’re not out and about. We're not sure if BBC sent you here, but if you want a closer look at Mulberry House's kitchen, look no further than Rick Stein’s 'Secret France' featuring the smiley host making a delicious meal here — and were absolutely expect your to try to recreate it! This is a typical French hilltop chateau, but this doesn't mean it's ordinary. The casually welcoming atmosphere is a product of modern furniture and restored period features, the kitchen being the best example of this harmony. Still, we expect you to spend much more time around this home than in it. With the huge pool that's perfect for a morning splash and the futuristic loungers around it, a gorgeous dining spot under the pergola, and a breezy back garden, there are plenty of spots to socialise or reflect in peace. The host team that looks after this home is always available to help and organise those extra touches that will make your stay even more special. Think transport to football matches in Marseilles, babysitters, maid service, and more.

With a southwest-facing aspect, this apartment’s small balcony overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and Sainte-Maxime’s Central Beach. The views are stunning from both the terrace and the living area. This room also sleeps guests three and four on a sofa bed. The kitchen here is compact, but it has everything you need to cook some French cuisine. And there are plenty of cafes and restaurants literally on your doorstep. The location is fantastic too – the beach is 20 metres away, while Plage de Galets is also a short stroll.

Prepare to be wowed by this extraordinary villa in the Esterel National Park on the French Riviera. Constructed in 1904 for Lord Amherst, it retains an air of aristocracy, as seen with the grand staircase, antique furnishings and the chandeliers in almost every single room. On sunny days, what could be more civilised than afternoon tea out in the courtyard complete with loggia running around and a fountain in the middle?

However, you'll probably be happy to hear that some additions have been made in the hundred or so years since. The huge heated swimming pool is one such example, as is the gym, cinema room and billiards table inside.

Lots of people have been so charmed by the address that they've held weddings or large parties here, and you can do the same if you so wish. Alternatively, you can arrange art classes, wine-tasting or sporting events through the host, or see more of the area with a chauffeur or private yacht.

There's no shortage of places to visit around here. The medieval village of Fréjus with its Roman amphitheatre is only five minutes' drive away, as is the seaside town of St. Raphael. There are plenty of walking routes and scenic points to discover in the surrounding countryside, but Cannes is only forty minutes away in the car if you prefer to idle about aimlessly.

With five bedrooms over three floors, there’s plenty of space for all, and the separate apartment on the lower ground floor makes it ideal for multi-generational families. What’s more, there’s free access to local tennis courts, not to mention a bi-weekly market and great boulangerie in the village. Factor in the stunning beaches and idyllic Provencal villages within a twenty-minute drive (Nice airport is just thirty minutes by car too), and you’ll see why countryside bliss and Cote d’Azur glamour go hand in hand here.
