This sunny sanctuary is in a quiet residential area, yet within easy reach of some of the gems of Provence. It’s just five minutes by car from the riverside city of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, which is nicknamed the Venice of Provence and known for its antique shops (it has more than anywhere else in France). When you’re not hunting for vintage finds or touring hilltop villages and vineyards, the house is a peaceful place to recharge your batteries. There’s a pool to cool off in and space to sunbathe, while indoors you’ll find a well-equipped kitchen, two comfortable bedrooms, and two bathrooms, both with a walk-in shower.

The Sunshine House

Sitting in the centre of Saint-Tropez, this brutalist home has a truly enviable location, but we think its charms extend beyond where it sits on the map.

Only built in 2021, the interior is fresh and contemporary, and saved from the anonymity of over-ubiquitous minimalist design by the boldly patterned tiling underfoot, some eye-catching metallic light fixtures and the black-and-white artwork dotted across the walls. We've got kind words for the modern kitchen, which is all clean lines and sleek surfaces, as well as the terraces – not only is there a space on the ground level to dine in the open air, but the upper-floor balcony is fabulous for sunset-watching.

You'll find it remarkably easy to embrace the Provençal lifestyle here. The twice-weekly market at Place des Lices is just around the corner and there are beaches you can reach on foot, too. When the sky starts turning dusky, there's a wealth of bars and restaurants in the surrounding streets at which to pass your evening hours.


The Boys of Summer

With a south-facing aspect, this beautiful villa is the perfect place to relax and enjoy your holiday. There’s a large swimming pool, a terrace for alfresco dining and glimpses of the Mediterranean Sea. You can enjoy the vistas from the large living room, too – this place is ideal for families or friends. We love that all the bedrooms open out onto a balcony as well. When you want to explore, the sea and sandy beach are 2 kilometres away, and the resort of Saint Aygulf is just a little less.

La Mer Vistas

This townhouse puts you right in the heart of Saint-Tropez. You'll be just steps from the port, the Citadel, and the best restaurants, cafes and beaches. Set over three levels, it’s ideal for groups, with two kitchens, two living rooms, and ensuite bedrooms. There’s even a bonus bedroom off the second kitchen if you want extra space. The interiors are compact and cosy, but that adds to the home’s quirky charm. Best of all, the terrace is perfect for dining with a view of the town’s cobbled streets and rooftops.

French Riviera Hideaway

This home invites you to settle in and experience the magic of Provence. Just a short stroll from the picturesque village of Cotignac, you’ll be welcomed by idyllic views, a peaceful garden and a private pool. Inside, the rooms are simple, fresh and family friendly with everything you could need to switch off and unwind. Days here can be spent relaxing at home or out exploring the region. Stroll to the local market and savour the atmosphere form nearby cafes and restaurants. There are also plenty of opportunities for hiking and wine tasting.

The Mulberry Tree

If we could give a home a pass based on location alone, this address would undoubtedly get one. Not only does it sit within the Verdon National Park and a five-minute drive from the truffle markets of Aups, but it has a prime view of the mountain peaks of Massif des Maures.

Thankfully, the villa has a lot more riding in its favour other than this wonderful position. For starters, it really spoils guests when it comes to outdoor space. As well as a pair of terraces from which to admire the scenery, there's a huge garden complete with a petanque court, playground and a fountain to enjoy. Best of all, there's a swimming pool that offers a refreshing spot in which to relax during baking hot afternoons.

Once a sheepfold in a former life, the home itself is imbued with rustic charm, filled as it is with wooden ceiling beams, terracotta tiles and handsome antique furnishings. The main bathroom was once an old pigeon house – not something you get to write all that often – but today it's the very vision of relaxation with its cast iron bathtub.

When you're in the mood to see more of this beautiful landscape, there are ample walking routes in the surrounding national park, as well as opportunities for everything from climbing, paragliding, canoeing, rafting and horseback riding. The shores of Lake of Sainte-Croix are only a short drive away if you fancy pootling about in a boat or splashing about in the invitingly blue waters.

The Outdoorsman

Dating back to the 17th century, this historic villa is a true gem in the Provençal hills. You’ll have panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, with cypress trees and old stone maisons dotting the landscape. Drop your bags and head straight outside to the upper terrace, where you’ll find a shaded patio with an outdoor table and a spectacular view. Then, descend to the lower terrace, where a private pool and loungers await. Inside, exposed stone walls and wooden beams convey the home’s age and history, while modern amenities ensure that your Provençal getaway is a comfortable one. When you’re ready to venture out, the boulangeries cobblestoned hills of Gordes are right on your doorstep.

The Hills of Provence

This picture-perfect Provençal borie offers the best of both worlds. The south-facing, private heated pool, surrounded by gardens and olive groves, feels blissfully secluded. Yet when you’re ready for a change of pace, the Luberon’s charming hilltop villages are just a short drive away. That said, it’s just tempting to stay put. The pool house – complete with pétanque and ping-pong – will be a hit with younger ones. Meanwhile, two shaded terraces invite long, unhurried afternoons. Inside, light-filled living spaces with cool terracotta floors deliver classic Provençal character, making this home just as inviting indoors as it is out.

Dreaming of Dawn

We were immediately drawn to this villa's sea views – one glance, and you'll understand why. Perched above Saint-Tropez and just a ten-minute drive from its famous beaches, it has coastal relaxation written all over it. The balcony offers a birds-eye view of the Mediterranean, as does the private pool. Even indoors, you'll catch a glimpse of the sea. There's also an on-site fitness room, sauna, and a charming covered terrace where you can indulge in alfresco meals. For a getaway on the Côte d'Azur, this home is just the ticket.

Seabound Serenity

With picturesque views of the Church of Notre Dame de l'Assomption, this apartment has a wonderful setting. Set on the second floor with no lift, the large, characterful open-plan living space is a great place to relax. This room sleeps two guests on a sofa bed at full capacity. Also, the wi-fi isn't the most reliable, so we think it's best for those wanting to switch off. Situated a short stroll from the Port de Saint-Tropez and landmarks like the Tour Portalet, you’ll find plenty to see and do. There is an array of museums, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants to discover within walking distance too.

Saint-Tropez Church Tower

This is the kind of holiday home that dreams are made of. This magnificent villa was a hotel in days gone by, hosting the likes of Virginia Woolf and Winston Churchill. Now it’s a spectacular holiday home that sits on a cliff, looking over the French Riviera. 

Tucked away within the Calanques National Park, this home feels like an oasis. The sweeping views out to sea and the verdant surroundings make it feel as though it’s a million miles from the rest of the world. In reality, it’s just a twenty-one-minute walk from the village of Cassis – you can wake up in paradise and be eating croissants at a cafe by the port in under thirty minutes. 

It really does feel paradisiacal. A huge terrace looks out over the water and to the small beach below – walking seven minutes down a private path will see you arrive at Plage de l’Arène. The heated swimming pool shares the same gorgeous Riviera view, which makes sunset swims all the more enchanting. Wherever you choose to watch the sunsets, you’re in for a marvellous show. We’d pop open a bottle of bubbly and take a seat on the terrace. As the sun sinks lower, the sky transforms into pastel-hued art. You’ll never want to leave.

Neighbouring the renowned Plus Beaux Villages, this home sits nestled in the surrounding olive woods and vineyards. Carved out of caves, reinforced with wooden rafters and nurtured by open fires, there have been buildings on the site since the Roman era. When you're taking a break from the infinity pool, embark on a walking trail, sample Michelin-star delights or devour the artisanal goodies by the nearby Medieval squares. Not to mention, there is an oyster and wine bar you cannot miss!
