This home has views over the small town of Le Beausset and the Provençal countryside from its large, vine-covered terrace. There’s also an interior courtyard – perfect for a morning coffee. The living room with its sliding doors is a great place to relax. We think it's ideal for families or friends, just note that towels and linen cost extra and that the second bedroom has a sofa bed. The location is fantastic too, with plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops on your doorstep. Or for a day by the sea, explore Saint Cyr sur Mer, 14 kilometres away.

We particularly love the covered terrace, it’s a wonderful place to start the day with your coffee. Or indeed, to toast the end of the day with a glass of something chilled, as the sun sets in the distance. Away from the apartment, you’ll find you’re perfectly placed amidst the pretty coastal town of Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer. Ramble the nearby historic streets before finding a sunny spot in the charming town square for a lazy lunch and some people-watching. When it’s time to change up the pace, head to the beach for sailing, diving, watersports, and swimming. Or squeeze in a round of golf at the famous Frégate golf course, with its breathtaking views over the island of Embiez. Whatever you choose to do, it seems impossible not to relax here.

Bandol is one of the most visited towns that lie along the Côte d'Azur, it's a fabulous spot where you can find some truly wonderful homes – case in point, this address is only a couple of streets over from the port. 

It feels remiss to start anywhere other than the wonderful palm-lined outdoor space, which, while modest in size, has both loungers for soaking up some rays and a Jacuzzi big enough to squeeze in seven. There's a contemporary sheen to the interior, from the Scandi-inspired furnishings and whitewashed walls to the modern kitchen dominated by clean lines and smooth surfaces. The bathrooms look as if they've been plucked out of a spa and we also love the hanging chair in the bedroom that is just the spot to get lost in a good book.

When it comes to filling up your itinerary, you're simply spoilt for choice. The golden sands of Plage du Grand Vala are a kilometre or so down the coastline and there's a great choice of restaurants around the port to head to come evening time. Once you've exhausted Bandol – which may take longer than you anticipated – Marseille is less than an hour away by car.

Full of eclectic decorative details, this coastal home in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer is an arty oasis just a short walk away from Les Lecques beach. With its white walls, tiled floors and mid-century modern furniture, the living room is an inviting space perfectly set up for spending sociable time together. The master bedroom is chic and modern, while there's fun to be found in the second bedroom, where bursts of blue and yellow abound. After a day spent soaking up the sun at the beach, stroll home for some cocktails on the balcony followed by an alfresco meal, or walk along the seafront to pick one of the local restaurants. Close to a waterpark, and only a forty-minute drive from beautiful Marseilles, there is plenty to see and do nearby.

When you stay at this apartment in La Ciotat, you’ll be just steps away from the Sunday market. It’s also under a five-minute stroll to the Old Port and fifteen minutes from La Ciotat’s beaches. The home itself has been renovated by an architect and includes a large living-dining room with a sofa bed, which guests five and six will be sleeping on. One thing to note is that there's air conditioning in the living space and the main bedroom only. There is also a children's bedroom with a bunk bed off the main bedroom, so this place is ideal for families.

You'll find this gorgeous family-size cottage, surrounded by unspoilt countryside, at the foot of the typical Provençal village of Ventabren, is just about as sweet as it gets. Boasting stunning views over the picturesque wooded hillsides of the Massif des Maures, this stone farmhouse has lots of space inside and out. Two of the single beds are up on a mezzanine level and younger children may need supervision on some of the staircases. There's plenty of peace and quiet here, so we think you'll want a car for trips to Saint-Tropez, Nice, and Cannes.

We're not sure if BBC sent you here, but if you want a closer look at Mulberry House's kitchen, look no further than Rick Stein’s 'Secret France' featuring the smiley host making a delicious meal here — and were absolutely expect your to try to recreate it! This is a typical French hilltop chateau, but this doesn't mean it's ordinary. The casually welcoming atmosphere is a product of modern furniture and restored period features, the kitchen being the best example of this harmony. Still, we expect you to spend much more time around this home than in it.
