Situated in the lower part of the village, this former farmhouse is steeped in Provençal charm. From a pétanque playing area to breath-taking views over the Luberon, it has everything you need for a quintessential French escape, including easy access to the village’s historic centre and the Château de Lacoste. Despite being recently renovated, the interior feels dated in parts, but it’s still nice and cosy, with plenty of room to unwind as a group. And if you need some peace and quiet, the garden is full of hidden corners for kicking back and relaxing with a cheeky glass of wine.

Situated just outside the village of Gargas, enjoy wandering through cobblestone streets lined with ochre stone buildings and visit the 16th century church. The area is known for its ochre quarries and striking red cliffs, and this can best be appreciated with a visit to Roussillon – named one of France’s most beautiful villages – which is just a mere four kilometres away. The home blends into the landscape with its terracotta roof, pale stone walls and garden with blossoming flowers and lush greenery, perfect for alfresco dining on the terrace as the sun peers through the surrounding trees. Spend lazy afternoons by the glistening pool, and if the sun gets to be too much, the veranda shaded by a canopy of branches is a great spot for a cool glass of rosé. Inside, the light interior is warm and welcoming with traditional features, exposed beams, an open-hearth fireplace for the cooler months and air-conditioning in most rooms. This beautiful village house is the perfect place to enjoy a holiday in the Luberon region of Provence. The property is located on a hillside on the edge of Gordes, one of France's classified 'Plus Beaux Villages'. The Provençal valley views from the terraced grounds are incredible.

The house has been decorated with refined style and there's an authentic ambience across its elegant lounge, dining room and perfectly equipped kitchen with doors sliding open to the al-fresco dining terrace. Modern additions include air-conditioning throughout, a Sonos music system and Smart TVs in its mezzanine lounge and two of the three bedrooms.

Sleeping up to six guests, the bedrooms are gorgeous, one with a king-size double bed, wood-beamed ceiling and romantic rolltop bath, another with a queen-size double, sofa and en suite shower room and the third en suite with twin beds and lovely views through its little windows. 

Outside, the vistas of Provence will take your breath away whether you are enjoying a glass of Luberon AOC wine on the upper terrace or peacefully reading on the outdoor sofa beneath the poolside pergola. The swimming pool is superb for warm summer days when you don't wish to venture too far. We love the rustic charm of the terraced grounds with old stone steps, pretty pathways and swathes of summer colour.

The swimming pool terrace bursts with rose bushes and has a private Jacuzzi, while the wisteria-shaded dining areas are perfect for alfresco meals. Though it’s traditional on the outside, there’s a modern feel inside, with a glass wall by the dining table overlooking the gardens. Sitting in the middle of a thirteen-hectare plot, this lovingly restored farmhouse is the ideal option for living the full Provençal fantasy.

Behind the ancient stone walls, you'll find a tasteful mixture of period features, like the fireplace, window shutters and ceiling beams, and more modern additions — case in point, the elegant bathtubs and contemporary kitchen. One of our favourite spaces is the cellar that has been converted into an apéro bar complete with a foosball table.

When the weather's warm and bright — not too rare an occurrence in this part of the world — there are plenty of ways to make the most of this. In the garden, you'll find a swimming pool and plenty of loungers that look out over the French countryside, but there are equally wonderful views from the two stone terraces.

The surrounding region of Luberon is both beautiful and peaceful, something that's easy to discover for yourselves with the amount of hiking and cycling routes that start from the grounds. The village of Saignon is a five-minute drive away too and offers a boulangerie, art gallery and a twelfth-century church.

This beautiful villa is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a holiday in Provence. It’s at the foot of Luberon in the countryside of Cucuron, perched on a hill. From its elevated position surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, you can admire far-reaching views. We love the heated swimming pool outside, and the bright and open style of the villa. Huge windows, plenty of seating, and a piano make the living room ideal for socialising. There are varied sleeping arrangements so the villa can easily accommodate large groups, with a quadruple family room that’s ideal for parents of little ones.

Surrounded by lush greenery, this Provençal farmhouse will delight sun worshippers and wine lovers alike. The outdoor pool is the real centrepiece, but the garden boasts plenty of other spots for kicking back with a glass of rosé, including a shaded patio with an outdoor kitchen for a spot of alfresco cooking. The interior isn’t quite as striking with some rooms feeling a little dated. But the space has, nonetheless, retained plenty of traditional charm with its exposed stone walls and beamed ceilings, making it a nice backdrop for cosy evenings in. And location-wise, you’re just a short drive from some of Provence’s most beautiful villages, so you won’t have to venture far to get a taste of local culture – and viticulture.

The medieval village of Gordes is less than three kilometres away – once you're done exploring the Game of Thrones-esque streets and artisanal shops, hike back to the patio for late afternoon drinks with the sound of rustling leaves as your soundtrack.

Staying at this home is all about immersing yourself in the blissful tranquillity of the Provencal countryside. Set amidst a huge private parkland, this stone villa is a haven of peace – we love the outdoor areas, which offer infinite possibilities when it comes to alfresco dining, swimming in the pool and relaxing in the shade of the trees. The inside is all about classic French country style, with stone fireplaces, wooden beams and vintage furnishings. There are quite a few stairs to climb here, some rather steep, so it may not be the right choice for guests with reduced mobility.

Best for walking, rest, and relaxation, the villa has got its own private swimming pool. Cool off on hot summer days, before bagging your space on one of the loungers. Inside, Provincial charm meets modern style, from the grey sofas with poppy cushions to the pencil-drawn prints on walls. Bedrooms each have their own shower for washing swimming pool water off quickly, before heading back out and lighting up the BBQ for feasting alfresco.

Filled with character and historic charm, your hosts have done the utmost to restore the home to all of its former glory, but without missing any luxuries for the twenty-first-century traveller. Prepare delicious meals in the Provençal kitchen, dine in front of the striking fireplace, and relax on the soft sofas in the living area. Each bedroom has been beautifully and individually designed, some of which lead into the gardens. Cool off from the hot sun in the refreshing pool, dine in the shade of the pagoda or simply wander through the gardens and find a peaceful corner to yourself. However you decide to relax, True Love offers plenty of activities, but most of all it oozes serenity and calm.

Here you can prepare food without having head indoors, eat at the shaded table and even enjoy a post-lunch game of pool. While the modern decor inside the villa won’t be to everyone’s taste, we love the clean lines and eye-catching artwork. Location wise, you’re in a quiet spot in the countryside but it’s only a short stroll to the nearest village – pretty Ménerbes with its atmospheric narrow streets, medieval houses and charming cafes.

Stone-built and practically glowing in the southern France sunshine, this home is ideal for cyclists and hikers. It’s a fifteen-minute ride to the medieval village of Gordes and for a real challenge, you can head on to the slopes of Mount Ventoux. Hikers can hit the trails of Les Gorges de Véroncle, a short walk away. The walled garden is home to a summer kitchen for lazy lunches outside and the swimming pool awaits after a day’s exertion. Sleek and monochrome, the open living area and kitchen belies the traditional exterior. The ground-floor bedroom opens up to the poolside terrace and both upstairs rooms have sweeping countryside views.

This beautiful, single-level home consists of two separate parts, making it a great option for families and groups of friends who want their privacy. There are plenty of places for coming together and socialising too, with both indoor and outdoor dining, a large pool area and a lush garden. With a pétanque court and table tennis you’re sure to keep busy, although those sun loungers also promise afternoons of relaxing and soaking up the sun. Bear in mind that due to the home’s rather secluded location a car is highly recommended – it also means you’ll be able to explore the picturesque countryside around you.

Spend relaxing days here strolling the lush grounds around you – The gardens are partially made up of vineyards and olive groves. Or, take a few laps of the sparkling private pool surrounded by manicured lawn. On scorching summer afternoons, recline on the hammock with blue skies above, and have a light lunch at the stone dining table in the courtyard under the twisting grapevines. Indoors, you’ll find modern art adorning the walls, unique pieces of furniture and canary yellow walls that add a burst of colour. There’s a distinctly medieval feel from the thick stone walls keeping everything cool, to the wrought iron dining chairs and arched alcoves. We especially love the little library, where you’re sure to find something interesting – perhaps a guide to the numerous hiking trails in the area?

Everything about this home is quintessentially Provençal – from the rustic stone walls, plum-hued shutters and wooden beams, to the solid wood furniture, muted textiles and hand-carved features inside. There’s an air of effortless relaxation, with a touch of artistic flair, throughout. Bright red walls, bottle-green tiles and vintage Boussiet prints in the kitchen will turn cooking into a vibrant adventure rather than a chore – prepare a baguette with lashings of butter and dollops of jam, head outside and devour it on the shaded and plant-surrounded patio. Then stretch out in the garden and soak up every last drop of the same sunlight that inspired Cézanne and Van Gogh, before cooling off in the pool (that’s at least sixteen shades of blue). When you’re ready to expend some energy, head out of your front door and into Luberon National Park where ancient cedars and ochre cliffs come straight from the pages of an Impressionist’s sketchbook. And if you need extra provisions, you’re a twenty minute walk from the gorgeous village of Ménerbes, where bistros and cafes await.

You'll be smitten as soon as you see this home's garden. Blossoming with French flora, boasting a private pool and showcasing views of the rolling hills, it's a lovely spot to while away dappled afternoons. Inside is a bit more modern – albeit a little less exciting – but families will have a decent amount of space to spread out and relax. There's a trundle bed in the third bedroom, which we think is best suited to little ones, while the separate study in the mezzanine is ideal for business travellers. On your doorstep is Saint-Saturnin-Lès-Apt, a typical Provençal village with buckets of character. Villars and Apt are further afield.
