Why not book for a private chef to come and give you French cooking lessons? You'll also find that the local area allows guests to experience French culture at its finest. Mornings are for market visits here, so head on down into the local village, just a three-minute walk away where you'll find a lady named Patricia who sells fresh fruit and vegetables every Monday and Wednesday morning in the central square, Place de la Fontaine. Better still, visit on a Saturday as this is the main market day for the villagers to stock up on fresh meat, fish, cheese, truffles, wine and flowers. It's safe to say that such a warm and friendly atmosphere is hard to come by in France, if you're not in a rural village like this one.

Tucked away on the outskirts of Lagnes, this charming home is the perfect setting for a Provençal escape with friends or family. What started life as two separate farmhouses has been remodelled into one free-flowing property, boasting richly decorated interiors that make the home feel truly lived-in – albeit by a French aristocrat rather than your average Joe. Stone fireplaces and framed art pieces abound but if that’s not your thing, there are four hectares of gardens to explore. Dive into the swimming pool, practise your forehand on the tennis court, or find a secluded spot under an olive tree and unwind in peace. 

You’ve got the option of hiring a private chef to take care of you, but if you’d rather put your own culinary skills to the test, you’ll need to venture into L'Isle-sur-Sorgue to stock up on ingredients. This is a typical French hilltop chateau, but this doesn't mean it's ordinary.
