This beautiful village house is the perfect place to enjoy a holiday in the Luberon region of Provence. The property is located on a hillside on the edge of Gordes, one of France's classified 'Plus Beaux Villages'. The Provençal valley views from the terraced grounds are incredible.

The house has been decorated with refined style and there's an authentic ambience across its elegant lounge, dining room and perfectly equipped kitchen with doors sliding open to the al-fresco dining terrace. Modern additions include air-conditioning throughout, a Sonos music system and Smart TVs in its mezzanine lounge and two of the three bedrooms.

Sleeping up to six guests, the bedrooms are gorgeous, one with a king-size double bed, wood-beamed ceiling and romantic rolltop bath, another with a queen-size double, sofa and en suite shower room and the third en suite with twin beds and lovely views through its little windows. 

Outside, the vistas of Provence will take your breath away whether you are enjoying a glass of Luberon AOC wine on the upper terrace or peacefully reading on the outdoor sofa beneath the poolside pergola. The swimming pool is superb for warm summer days when you don't wish to venture too far. We love the rustic charm of the terraced grounds with old stone steps, pretty pathways and swathes of summer colour.

From the pretty terrace and sunny pool area, you can enjoy fabulous views of the surrounding scenery – which looks even more beautiful when bathed in golden sunlight. The lounge might be a little on the snug side, but that won’t matter when you’re lounging poolside. It’s worth noting that Gordes is on a hilltop, and the walk to get to the village (although short) is uphill. But it’s worth the climb to find excellent eateries, artisan shops, and a bakery for those all-important pastries. There’s also a market every Tuesday, perfect for picking up local produce to make a leisurely lunch back at home.

The top floor bedroom is particularly spectacular, with 360 degree panoramic views of the surrounding Provençal countryside and balcony access. Be sure to check out nearby Cavaillon's weekly market, famed for its phenomenal melons.

Stone fireplaces and framed art pieces abound but if that’s not your thing, there are four hectares of gardens to explore. Dive into the swimming pool, practise your forehand on the tennis court, or find a secluded spot under an olive tree and unwind in peace. 

You’ve got the option of hiring a private chef to take care of you, but if you’d rather put your own culinary skills to the test, you’ll need to venture into L'Isle-sur-Sorgue to stock up on ingredients. The town’s 18th-century waterwheels and picturesque riverside cafés make this far from a chore though, and we wouldn’t blame you if you ended up whiling away the rest of the afternoon here rather than rushing home.
