This beautiful villa is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a holiday in Provence. It’s at the foot of Luberon in the countryside of Cucuron, perched on a hill. From its elevated position surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, you can admire far-reaching views. We love the heated swimming pool outside, and the bright and open style of the villa. Huge windows, plenty of seating, and a piano make the living room ideal for socialising. There are varied sleeping arrangements so the villa can easily accommodate large groups, with a quadruple family room that’s ideal for parents of little ones.

Surrounded by the energy of mountains, this refurbished 17th-century farmhouse is the perfect place to lose yourself in the Luberon. Spend relaxing days here strolling the lush grounds around you – The gardens are partially made up of vineyards and olive groves. Or, take a few laps of the sparkling private pool surrounded by manicured lawn. On scorching summer afternoons, recline on the hammock with blue skies above, and have a light lunch at the stone dining table in the courtyard under the twisting grapevines. Indoors, you’ll find modern art adorning the walls, unique pieces of furniture and canary yellow walls that add a burst of colour. There’s a distinctly medieval feel from the thick stone walls keeping everything cool, to the wrought iron dining chairs and arched alcoves. We especially love the little library, where you’re sure to find something interesting – perhaps a guide to the numerous hiking trails in the area?

Situated in the lower part of the village, this former farmhouse is steeped in Provençal charm. From a pétanque playing area to breath-taking views over the Luberon, it has everything you need for a quintessential French escape, including easy access to the village’s historic centre and the Château de Lacoste. Despite being recently renovated, the interior feels dated in parts, but it’s still nice and cosy, with plenty of room to unwind as a group. And if you need some peace and quiet, the garden is full of hidden corners for kicking back and relaxing with a cheeky glass of wine.

Sitting in the middle of a thirteen-hectare plot, this lovingly restored farmhouse is the ideal option for living the full Provençal fantasy.

Behind the ancient stone walls, you'll find a tasteful mixture of period features, like the fireplace, window shutters and ceiling beams, and more modern additions — case in point, the elegant bathtubs and contemporary kitchen. One of our favourite spaces is the cellar that has been converted into an apéro bar complete with a foosball table.

When the weather's warm and bright — not too rare an occurrence in this part of the world — there are plenty of ways to make the most of this. In the garden, you'll find a swimming pool and plenty of loungers that look out over the French countryside, but there are equally wonderful views from the two stone terraces.

The surrounding region of Luberon is both beautiful and peaceful, something that's easy to discover for yourselves with the amount of hiking and cycling routes that start from the grounds. The village of Saignon is a five-minute drive away too and offers a boulangerie, art gallery and a twelfth-century church.

The house has been decorated with refined style and there's an authentic ambience across its elegant lounge, dining room and perfectly equipped kitchen with doors sliding open to the al-fresco dining terrace. Modern additions include air-conditioning throughout, a Sonos music system and Smart TVs in its mezzanine lounge and two of the three bedrooms.

You'll be blown away by the quaint, idyllic scenes found both inside and outside of this home. We particularly love the enormous, curved Orangerie style backdoor which paves the way to the magical garden setting featuring a shaded alfresco dining area, day beds and a crystal clear pool – divine for a refreshing dip during the height of summer in the south of France. Back inside, the stunning open-plan kitchen-living area ensures a sociable stay for the whole group to enjoy together. The kitchen in particular will excite guests who are fond of cooking as the large central island makes it perfect for group cooking sessions. Why not book for a private chef to come and give you French cooking lessons? You'll also find that the local area allows guests to experience French culture at its finest. Mornings are for market visits here, so head on down into the local village, just a three-minute walk away where you'll find a lady named Patricia who sells fresh fruit and vegetables every Monday and Wednesday morning in the central square, Place de la Fontaine. Better still, visit on a Saturday as this is the main market day for the villagers to stock up on fresh meat, fish, cheese, truffles, wine and flowers. It's safe to say that such a warm and friendly atmosphere is hard to come by in France, if you're not in a rural village like this one.

If we could give a home a pass based on location alone, this address would undoubtedly get one. Not only does it sit within the Verdon National Park and a five-minute drive from the truffle markets of Aups, but it has a prime view of the mountain peaks of Massif des Maures.

Thankfully, the villa has a lot more riding in its favour other than this wonderful position. For starters, it really spoils guests when it comes to outdoor space. As well as a pair of terraces from which to admire the scenery, there's a huge garden complete with a petanque court, playground and a fountain to enjoy. Best of all, there's a swimming pool that offers a refreshing spot in which to relax during baking hot afternoons.

Once a sheepfold in a former life, the home itself is imbued with rustic charm, filled as it is with wooden ceiling beams, terracotta tiles and handsome antique furnishings. The main bathroom was once an old pigeon house – not something you get to write all that often – but today it's the very vision of relaxation with its cast iron bathtub.

When you're in the mood to see more of this beautiful landscape, there are ample walking routes in the surrounding national park, as well as opportunities for everything from climbing, paragliding, canoeing, rafting and horseback riding. The shores of Lake of Sainte-Croix are only a short drive away if you fancy pootling about in a boat or splashing about in the invitingly blue waters.
