This beautiful village house is the perfect place to enjoy a holiday in the Luberon region of Provence. The property is located on a hillside on the edge of Gordes, one of France's classified 'Plus Beaux Villages'. The Provençal valley views from the terraced grounds are incredible.

The house has been decorated with refined style and there's an authentic ambience across its elegant lounge, dining room and perfectly equipped kitchen with doors sliding open to the al-fresco dining terrace. Modern additions include air-conditioning throughout, a Sonos music system and Smart TVs in its mezzanine lounge and two of the three bedrooms.

Sleeping up to six guests, the bedrooms are gorgeous, one with a king-size double bed, wood-beamed ceiling and romantic rolltop bath, another with a queen-size double, sofa and en suite shower room and the third en suite with twin beds and lovely views through its little windows. 

Outside, the vistas of Provence will take your breath away whether you are enjoying a glass of Luberon AOC wine on the upper terrace or peacefully reading on the outdoor sofa beneath the poolside pergola. The swimming pool is superb for warm summer days when you don't wish to venture too far. We love the rustic charm of the terraced grounds with old stone steps, pretty pathways and swathes of summer colour.

The town’s 18th-century waterwheels and picturesque riverside cafés make this far from a chore though, and we wouldn’t blame you if you ended up whiling away the rest of the afternoon here rather than rushing home. Surrounded by lush greenery, this Provençal farmhouse will delight sun worshippers and wine lovers alike. Location wise, you’re in a quiet spot in the countryside but it’s only a short stroll to the nearest village – pretty Ménerbes with its atmospheric narrow streets, medieval houses and charming cafes.

Your host can arrange bike rentals, should you want to explore the medieval hilltop villages of Provence on two wheels. While the luscious green surroundings do most of the talking, there are plenty of hidden amenities to have you reaching for the book instantly button, too. There’s a home cinema room, ping pong table and billiards table to enjoy, not to mention the south-facing alfresco dining room overlooking the vineyards. And while you’ll feel completely remote here, you’re only a twenty-minute walk from the hilltop town of Ménerbes, where you can pick up fresh bread and locally-produced wine.

The Provence region isn't exactly short of beautiful outside spaces, but the 20 acres of grounds surrounding this home are up there with the most impressive – and best of all, you get these all to yourself.

The landscaped gardens are blissful to wander through on warm afternoons and the ponds filled with water lilies will have any budding Monets reaching for their easel. It's not just easy on the eye, however – the pair of swimming pools, tennis court and children's play equipment will keep guests of all ages entertained, while the barbecue and alfresco dining table will ensure you can have open-air feasts that stretch on long after sunset.

Although you're sure to be spending countless hours in the gardens, the recently renovated living quarters are also quite mesmerising. For a start, lunches in the garden dining room filled with plants and huge windows will be unforgettable. The bright and contemporary lounge has bundles of charm, as do the super-sleek bathrooms with freestanding tubs begging for a soak.

When treated to gardens such as these, you might not see much point in exploring beyond the home's boundaries. However, the village of Noves is one kilometre away if you change your mind and the city of Avignon is only a 15-kilometre car journey, too.

You’ll need a car here, but the upside of the out-of-the-way setting is the peace and quiet.

Sleek and monochrome, the open living area and kitchen belies the traditional exterior.
