Part of a converted hotel, the home is set in the rolling fields of Cornwall. We love to run an evening bath in the outdoor tub and watch the sunset over the hills. While the location is everything here, the apartment's modern home comforts make it all the more special. From the comfy interiors of the living to the luxurious bathtub and snuggly bed – the space makes chilling out between days on the beach easy as can be. If you arrive by car, do note that there is no private parking available on-site – the local public car parks of Fowey are just a five-minute stroll away. Or, take advantage of the train route to Par and then the 20-minute bus to Fowey, if you'd prefer to leave the car at home.

Set on the side of a hill and overlooking the River Fowey as it meets the sea, this stunning home has views to die for. With a waterfront position, it looks out across the estuary from all the main rooms so you can watch the water from morning to night. In the little village of Polruan, you'll be just opposite the popular town of Fowey, known for its trendy shops and eateries. An unusual home, you enter from ground level to an immaculate and bright open-plan living room. Thanks to the slope, although it's ground level at the front of the house, you'll feel you've stepped into a top floor apartment when you see the views from the rear. With vaulted ceilings and skylights, the all-white space is modern and comfortable, with a smart kitchen, big dining table and cosy seating area. Patio doors open to a private deck – the perfect spot to sit back with a glass of wine and just take it all in. Downstairs you'll find all the bedrooms and bathrooms – three with river views – and outside you have access across the lawn to a small mooring on the waterfront. With a shop and a pub just a few steps away from the home, you could easily spend your days here, but it's just a quick car ferry ride from the quay across to Fowey, or follow the coastal path for a hike towards Lantic Bay beach.

Set in a former hotel, this home is an excellent choice for exploring some of Cornwall's prettiest corners while avoiding the crowds. It’s a minutes’ drive from the bustling port of Looe, where we love to mosey around the model village, gorge on the catch of the day at a restaurant or perch on the sheltered beach. Polperro is also close by, a ten minutes’ drive away, with its cobbled streets and local pubs. Back at home, you’ll find a relaxing bright environment with beachy vibes. We love the different coloured wood in the kitchenette, the blue tiles in the bathroom and the wicker lamps. The loveseat has a clear nautical theme, perfect for afternoon lounging, while the bed is luxurious and welcoming at the end of the day. Enjoy breakfast at the small wooden table, or outside in finer weather, and map out your plans for the day. For the more adventurous, there are several canoe, kayak and paddleboarding shops in Looe, with the choice to hire or go on a guided tour. Otherwise, hit the gorgeous coastal walking paths, following the cliffs and coastline and even passing a few sheltered little beaches.

Set over four levels, it's a bit of climb up to the fourth-floor lounge but trust us – it's worth every step. From up here, you've got a bird's eye view of the estuary, pretty Cornish coastline and the sparkling ocean, and the best spot to take it all in is the sunny roof terrace. Pour yourself a glass of wine (or a glass of juice for the little ones) and relish in the unforgettable sunsets, watching as the tide ebbs and flows. Then, when you've had your fill of the scenery (if that's even possible), make your way downstairs to the country-style kitchen for a family dinner before snuggling up in the sumptuous beds.

With its quaint boutiques and local eateries hiding all sorts of hidden treasures, there's plenty in Fowey to explore. The terrace offers panoramic views of boats bobbing on the estuary, making it the perfect place for alfresco dinners and sunset drinks. Inside is utterly charming, with an eat-in kitchen, a cosy lounge with a fireplace, and a trio of comfortable bedrooms. Two can be arranged into twins if needed, and some boast their own waterfront panoramas. As for location, you'll have easy access to two beaches, coastal paths, and the ferry to Fowey. Just be sure to pack comfortable shoes – Polruan's steep hills and narrow streets make driving challenging, so travelling on foot is the best way to explore.

Cornish Reveries

Take a seat on the front terrace of this charming cottage and take in the glimpses of the estuary this chic town is famous for. There’s a patio off the garden room too, ideal for reading your holiday book and this place is perfect as an all-year-round getaway as there’s an open fire for those colder months. Just a couple of things to note with this home – firstly, the stairs to the second floor are a bit on the narrow side. Secondly, there’s no parking and the road outside is steep, however, one reserved parking space is provided, a ten-minute walk away. You’ll definitely need to bring your walking shoes.

Just one hundred metres from the water’s edge, this quiet cottage in Polruan is far enough from the action to feel like an escape but close enough that a short walk brings you to two characterful pubs and a quick three-mile drive places you at Lansallos Beach.
 
The unusual “upside down” configuration – bedrooms and bathrooms on the ground floor, lounge and kitchen up top – is designed to make the most of those stellar views across the harbour. Throw open the windows and watch the boats bob on the gentle waves as you nurse your morning coffee. 

When it’s fair out, pull on your walking boots and follow the coastline to Lantic Bay, a leisurely thirty-six-minute amble, or hop on the ferry and pootle over to Fowey. Come home, windswept and worn out for a well-earned gin and tonic in the tidy courtyard or a strong cup of tea in the cosy living space.

If you want to explore the town of Fowey opposite, the Polruan Ferry takes you across the estuary in under fifteen minutes, or a ten-minute drive will take you to the Bodinnick Car Ferry.

Designed to an incredibly high standard by your host, Alison, the interior feels very in keeping with the seaside locale without ever coming across as a cliche. There's not a deckchair stripe in sight. Instead, you're treated to sculptural driftwood lamps, moody seascape paintings, and a sophisticated palette of deep blues and grey tones that reflect the British weather more accurately than the usual sunshine yellow. If you can bear to leave the home, there are plenty of shops, restaurants and places of interest in the immediate vicinity. Fowey is a beautiful harbourside town with public events occurring throughout the year. The local community is a healthy mix of all ages who are warm and friendly and adept at making newcomers feel welcome.

Thanks to its elevated and southern facing position, this home benefits from uninterrupted sweeping sea views across the harbour to Readymoney Cove and out to Gribbin Head. 

Cliffbrake welcomes up to eight guests to enjoy this fabulous location, a few metres away from the coastal path to the sandy shores of Lantic Bay – around a thirty-five-minute walk away and an even shorter half a mile stroll to the pub, village shops and ferry port that goes to Fowey. With an abundance of coastal and country walks, we recommend packing comfortable shoes because this area truly is best explored on foot. But we also really wouldn’t blame you if you never wanted to leave this magnificent home. 

After all, the views here are spectacular and made even more picturesque with the boats that sail by. Enjoy these vistas from the terrace while you dine al fresco, or from the sunroom, the dining room and the cosy living area when the weather is being less kind. You needn't worry about missing out on the views from the other rooms of the home, as you'll even get to lap up them up from upstairs in the bedrooms too.

We’re passionate about coastal escapes, so as far as we’re concerned, a trip to Cornwall’s beautiful Fowey is always a good idea. And that good idea is made great by staying at this truly lovely home. 

The house is spread over three floors, with a ground-floor apartment in addition to a roomy second- and third-floor home – this is the perfect base for two separate families travelling together. You can gather together as much as you like, but when you need your own space it’s all there for you. We think the ground floor would be perfect for grandparents, while parents and little ones can spread out upstairs. 

You can look forward to wonderful views here. You’ll be able to admire boats sailing by from the kitchen window, and enjoy views of Fowey as you relax in the bath. Sit out on the terrace and take in the vista over to Polruan, ideally while sipping a chilled glass of wine. 

Readymoney Cove is just ten minutes away on foot, so make sure you bring your bucket and spade. Paddle in the water, skim stones or tuck into piping hot fish and chips on the sand. The harbour is just three minutes away, with its bevy of pretty boats. However you spend your time in Fowey, you’ll be delighted to have such a cosy and convenient space to call home.

Set in the heart of the Cornish countryside, this studio apartment has everything you need for some quality time away, whether that be with a partner or even a little time alone. Formerly part of a hotel, the plot has been restyled into a homely space, with a comfy king-size bed at the centrepiece of the room. We think there's somewhat of a Scandi-style interior here, with plain bedspreads, all-white walls and pale wood furnishings. There's also a convenient kitchenette for preparing breakfast and quick lunches, but it's less than a ten-minute drive into some of Cornwall's prettiest villages and some great food. Order the catch of the day at one of the seafood restaurants in Looe, or wander around Polperro's narrow cobbled streets until you come across a traditional pub. Sandy beaches and clear waters are also a short five-minute drive from home. The two beaches at nearby Talland are lovely for paddling or rock pooling. Further afield, Lantic Bay is only accessible by foot, meaning fewer crowds. For the ultimate relaxation, it's back home for a glass of champagne and an alfresco bath under the stars.

Step out onto its little balcony, complete with wrought iron railings, and you can look left towards the harbour, straight across the estuary to Polruan and right out to sea. A superb coastal viewpoint, sitting out here over breakfast, coffee, dinner or a glass of wine, is going to be your new obsession. At the top of an imposing seafront building, it's a fully modernised home perfect for a couple, friends or a small family. 

We'll start in the open-layout living room, decorated in blues and whites – a reflection of the view outside. There's a comfy, L-shaped velvet sofa, a little dining nook by the patio doors and a superb, modern kitchen with a breakfast bar. Elsewhere, a beautifully styled main bedroom has a window seat overlooking the water and an en-suite shower room, while we particularly love the freestanding bath in the main bathroom.

Just a short walk or drive from the centre of town, you'll have a great choice of shops, restaurants and pubs on your doorstep, and the beach at Readymoney Cove is just a matter of minutes away too. 

Shades of Water

With views across the harbour to Readymoney Cove, this Cornish home has a splendid location. The coastal path is just yards away, so you’ll have idyllic walks right on your doorstep. The nearest beach is just over 800 metres away, as are bars and a grocery store, while Polruan Castle is just over 200 metres from this home. Fowey, with its art galleries, boutiques and fantastic restaurants, is nearby too. The Polruan Ferry takes you across the estuary to Fowey in under fifteen minutes.

Pick up some fresh produce, barbecue a Cornish feast, and enjoy it on your terrace while you look out to sea. The glorious seascape can be admired from the living room and every bedroom too, which we adore. The spacious eat-in kitchen will easily accommodate all the gang – this place is perfect for a family or a group of friends.

Quirky and charming with easy access to Cornwall's world-famous coastline, this apartment is a great pick for two couples or a family with older children. Although it's located in central Looe, it's a peaceful spot where you can press pause and enjoy a seaside getaway. 

You can see the entire beach from the enormous windows in the open-plan living area, which is decked out with zebra-print rugs and sleek, contemporary furnishings. The open-plan layout is perfectly set up for socialising with your guests, and you can cook up a delicious evening meal to share at the chic dining table. There's even a spacious balcony where you can catch the morning sun and admire the views as you enjoy your breakfast. 

From here, take a four-minute wander down to the sandy beach, to enjoy a paddle in the surf or an ice cream on the shore. Keen hikers and casual walkers alike can join the nearby South West Coast Path and admire the stunning cliffs and maritime vistas. And, if you want to visit the iconic Eden Project, you can arrive there in forty-five minutes by car.

Fishing boats and surfboards sit side by side in the harbour, just outside this home’s walls. It’s in the centre of Looe, just five minutes from the beach and a three-minute walk from the train station. A working fishing town, the immediate area is filled with restaurants and pubs serving the freshest catch of the day and there’s a town beach where soft sand slips into turquoise sea. 

The view from big, Victoriana windows is over the quayside of the East Looe River so you can watch boats putting in and out. This place may look like a grand, Victorian villa on the outside, but inside it’s pristine white and modern with vibrant pops of silky blue. An exposed stone fireplace still sits at the heart of the living room though, where French doors let the natural light stream in. Cook your own catch of the day in the ultra-modern kitchen which is big enough for several chefs to bustle around in.

The real bonus here is the private terrace, which is set with a table and chairs. Overlooking the quayside, this is the perfect spot to share a bottle of something bubbly as the sun goes down over the water.
