Once an old cowshed, this Cornish cottage has been given a mesmerising new life. Located on a working farm six miles from Looe and Seaton where there are two other homes, this country retreat is a dream for rural adventurers. Stepping through the front door, we were hit by how well the living space beautifully marries traditional cottage living with modern style – the painted exposed stonework is a particularly stunning nod to the home's former life as a barn. Hardwood floors and beamed ceilings in the bedrooms also hint at the home’s history, while the white walls and blue accents remind you that the sea is never too far away. The home’s private garden is the perfect spot to listen to the morning birdsong or to fire up the barbecue on balmier evenings. On colder nights, board games await on the sofa by the wood-burning stove. As well as the private outdoor space, the home boasts an acre of beautifully landscaped gardens, ideal for picnics and walking the dog. And with so many landmarks and the South West Coast Path a short drive away, there are plenty of outdoor escapades to be had – fitting for life on the farm.

Only a ten-minute drive from the cobbled streets of Polperro and the bustling harbour town of Looe, this studio apartment is a countryside hideaway. Part of a converted hotel, the home is set in the rolling fields of Cornwall. We love to run an evening bath in the outdoor tub and watch the sunset over the hills. The small plot is great for a solo stay or romantic retreat – with a comfy king-size bed and small kitchenette to cook up light meals and breakfasts. The hosts are particularly attentive and bursting with recommendations and helpful tips. Lace up your walking boots: there are paths to explore on the four acres of land the home is set on, or drive to the nearby South West Coast Path for tramps over coastal cliffs. On sunny days, it's a quick journey to Cornwall's most beautiful beaches. We love Lantic Bay, a sheltered cove that's only accessible by foot, for a sense of privacy. For dinner, it's best to head out and make the most of the abundance of seafood in this region.

Set in a former hotel, this home is an excellent choice for exploring some of Cornwall's prettiest corners while avoiding the crowds. It’s a minutes’ drive from the bustling port of Looe, where we love to mosey around the model village, gorge on the catch of the day at a restaurant or perch on the sheltered beach. Polperro is also close by, a ten minutes’ drive away, with its cobbled streets and local pubs. Back at home, you’ll find a relaxing bright environment with beachy vibes. We love the different coloured wood in the kitchenette, the blue tiles in the bathroom and the wicker lamps. The loveseat has a clear nautical theme, perfect for afternoon lounging, while the bed is luxurious and welcoming at the end of the day. Enjoy breakfast at the small wooden table, or outside in finer weather, and map out your plans for the day. For the more adventurous, there are several canoe, kayak and paddleboarding shops in Looe, with the choice to hire or go on a guided tour. Otherwise, hit the gorgeous coastal walking paths, following the cliffs and coastline and even passing a few sheltered little beaches.

It’s in the centre of Looe, just five minutes from the beach and a three-minute walk from the train station. A working fishing town, the immediate area is filled with restaurants and pubs serving the freshest catch of the day and there’s a town beach where soft sand slips into turquoise sea. 

The view from big, Victoriana windows is over the quayside of the East Looe River so you can watch boats putting in and out. This place may look like a grand, Victorian villa on the outside, but inside it’s pristine white and modern with vibrant pops of silky blue. An exposed stone fireplace still sits at the heart of the living room though, where French doors let the natural light stream in. Cook your own catch of the day in the ultra-modern kitchen which is big enough for several chefs to bustle around in.

The real bonus here is the private terrace, which is set with a table and chairs. Overlooking the quayside, this is the perfect spot to share a bottle of something bubbly as the sun goes down over the water.

Located mere miles from the Cornish coast and well known for being one of Cornwall’s most historic properties, this Grade II-listed manor home cuts a striking figure. You’ll discover plenty of hidden gems from the moment you step foot on the 25-acre stretch of land, and we guarantee that there’ll be another surprise always waiting around the corner. Find the Elizabethan ruins outside, along with orchards, paddocks and woodland designed by Sir Humphrey Repton in 1972.  

If you can resist the lure of the roses, honeysuckle, and jasmine mixed together in a sweet floral scent outside, you might be able to explore the wonder of the home instead. Read in the light of the sprawling arched windows or come together in the drawing room each evening for a glass of port. Run your fingers over period pieces and gilded mirror frames as you stroll to the generous kitchen for another cup of coffee.

Enjoy sunset drinks in the wood-fired hot tub or around the gnarled tree – the lawn is also ideal for spontaneous picnics or for little ones to run around on.

Set in the heart of the Cornish countryside, this studio apartment has everything you need for some quality time away, whether that be with a partner or even a little time alone. Formerly part of a hotel, the plot has been restyled into a homely space, with a comfy king-size bed at the centrepiece of the room. We think there's somewhat of a Scandi-style interior here, with plain bedspreads, all-white walls and pale wood furnishings. There's also a convenient kitchenette for preparing breakfast and quick lunches, but it's less than a ten-minute drive into some of Cornwall's prettiest villages and some great food. Order the catch of the day at one of the seafood restaurants in Looe, or wander around Polperro's narrow cobbled streets until you come across a traditional pub. Sandy beaches and clear waters are also a short five-minute drive from home. The two beaches at nearby Talland are lovely for paddling or rock pooling. Further afield, Lantic Bay is only accessible by foot, meaning fewer crowds. For the ultimate relaxation, it's back home for a glass of champagne and an alfresco bath under the stars.

Look elsewhere, and you’ll uncover thoughtful touches like freshly-cut flowers and a welcome hamper filled with goodies in the shaker-style kitchen to make your stay unique. While over in the restful bedrooms, each with en-suites, you can tell an interior designer has been working their magic with modern floral textiles nailing the British eccentric style. And the icing on the cake? That suntrap, private terrace surrounded by blooming flowers to while away the long summer nights.

Quirky and charming with easy access to Cornwall's world-famous coastline, this apartment is a great pick for two couples or a family with older children. Although it's located in central Looe, it's a peaceful spot where you can press pause and enjoy a seaside getaway. 

You can see the entire beach from the enormous windows in the open-plan living area, which is decked out with zebra-print rugs and sleek, contemporary furnishings. The open-plan layout is perfectly set up for socialising with your guests, and you can cook up a delicious evening meal to share at the chic dining table. There's even a spacious balcony where you can catch the morning sun and admire the views as you enjoy your breakfast. 

From here, take a four-minute wander down to the sandy beach, to enjoy a paddle in the surf or an ice cream on the shore. Keen hikers and casual walkers alike can join the nearby South West Coast Path and admire the stunning cliffs and maritime vistas. And, if you want to visit the iconic Eden Project, you can arrive there in forty-five minutes by car.

Though this home in Looe is a bit of a climb, we think it's worth it. Once you reach the top of the steep lane, you'll have a magnificent view of the boats bobbing along the East Looe River from the private deck. It's a pretty sight, and thanks to the table and chairs, you'll be able to savour the scenery day or night alongside alfresco meals and evening cocktails. The inside makes the most of the location, too – not only do the Victorian bay windows in the lounge and bedrooms flood the rooms with light, but they also show off the water views. Cooking is anything but a chore in the sleek kitchen - it has everything you need to rustle up a delicious dinner, including a kitchen island for light bites. On rainy days, snuggle up in the living area – there's a DVD player, Netflix, a PS3 for gamers and an array of board games to play – but when the weather is nice, there's no better place to soak up the sun than East Looe Beach. It's an eight-minute walk away, so grab a towel and hit the sand. Also within walking distance are lots of traditional pubs, independent restaurants and local cafes if you're not in the mood to cook, and with the Eden Project just over a half hour's drive away, you'll be well-placed for exploring South East Cornwall.

This building started its life as a dairy but, thanks to a complete renovation along with the neighbouring homes, it's now a cosy cottage ideal for switching yourself off from the world. Though redesigned for modern living, wandering around we were awestruck by just how well this home marries its traditional past with stylish modernity. The stone exterior, timber beams and wooden floors retain the dairy feel, but shiplap-clad white walls and chic kitchen cupboards emphasise the light, and the silver wood burning stove offers a futuristic twist on a farmhouse classic. It's almost a surprise inside when you consider your surroundings, a rural and well looked-after working farm. Outside you've got your own courtyard too, a suntrap perfect for barbecues and listening to birdsong and the occasional moo and baa. The rolling Cornish countryside is right on your doorstep, while the ancient market town of Liskeard is just three miles away. If you fancy a day at the seaside, Looe and Seaton are a six-mile drive away.

The view from this seaside home has to be one of the best in Looe – overlooking the sandy beach and as close to the sea as it gets. Split over two floors, it's a large and practical apartment with a balcony and plenty of room for a family or group of friends. And with the beach just steps from your door, we imagine you'll be out there for morning walks, afternoons of sandcastle building and maybe even evening paddles.

Inside, you'll have two bedrooms and two bathrooms on the entrance level, meaning there's an upside-down arrangement here – allowing the main bedroom and living room to benefit from the best views. Open and bright, the living space upstairs has comfy seating, a dining table and doors out to the balcony. Shades of blue, white and grey reflect the view outside and they're continued into the kitchen, where a large hatch keeps everything nice and sociable at meal times. 

Here you'll also be just a short walk from Looe's many restaurants, tea rooms and shops, with the working fishing harbour on your doorstep and boat trips out to the nearby island. And there's lots to explore within an hour's drive too, from Plymouth's aquarium to the Eden Project.

Boconnoc is a little parish just a few miles outside of Lostwithiel, one of Cornwall's most sought-after rural villages. Staying here will give you the comfort of choosing whether you prefer the peace and quiet of the estate or the somewhat livelier compact village up the road where you can find a few brilliant gastropubs. Of course, nothing is stopping you from taking the car to other places like Fowey and the Eden Project as the whole of the peninsula is well-marked and the roads can easily take you quite far in under an hour. The cottage itself is a beautifully refurbished affair, draped in bold colours and furnished with comfortable furniture. You'll get plenty of light, access to the estate's tennis courts and games room, as well as the option of getting fresh seasonal produce delivered from the kitchen garden. If you can bear to leave the home, there are plenty of shops, restaurants and places of interest in the immediate vicinity. Fowey is a beautiful harbourside town with public events occurring throughout the year. The local community is a healthy mix of all ages who are warm and friendly and adept at making newcomers feel welcome.

If you want to focus on relaxation, not household chores, you can get fresh seasonal produce delivered from the garden kitchen and even book a private chef to whip up something magical with them. The host also offers regular cleaning and a little bird told us that there will be a little Cornish present waiting for you on arrival.

You only need to take a few steps down to arrive at the waterfront, where you can dip your toes in the sea or go paddleboarding. If you prefer a long, sandy beach, then Tregantle Beach is only a short drive away. And, when you fancy a day trip, head into Plymouth to learn about the port city's rich maritime history.

When you imagine a stereotypically Cornish cottage, this quaint whitewashed home covered in cascading roses can’t be far from the mark. 

Inside, this romance continues. The soft-hued interior is cosy and oh-so-delicate, with pretty pinks and soft greys mixed with nautical touches and vintage-style furnishings. That being said, the kitchen and bathroom lie on the more contemporary side.

Out through the back door, guests also get the run of a lush green garden with sea views, which you can admire while sitting on the patio with the barbecue smoking away in the background. An added bonus comes in the shape of a sea-blue summer house full of candy-coloured cushions just waiting for you to recline with a good book.

In the local area, the pretty fishing port of Looe can be reached in around fifteen minutes on foot, while the sandy Plaidy Beach is only five minutes' walk. If you're in the mood for a longer excursion, the South West Coast Path is easily reached, too.

Ideally nestled into the east bank of the River Fowey, this lovely home offers plenty of space for up to eight guests in a tranquil setting. From inside the cottage, you can enjoy picturesque views of the river and the many estuary birds that visit during low tide. For four hours of either side of high tide, you can head out for some boating. 

Thanks to plenty of lawn equipment, the garden is ideal for dining alfresco and playing games. But that’s not all – the large, fully equipped kitchen offers a great setting for socialising, and with not one but two sitting rooms, there’s plenty of space for everyone to claim a corner for themselves when they want some time on their own. 

On colder nights, feel free to light the wood-burning stove and make yourself comfortable on the sumptuous sofas. Upstairs, two of the bedrooms are equipped with twin beds, making this home an excellent choice for a family.

Alternatively, you can drive to the port city of Plymouth in about forty minutes and visit the National Marine Aquarium.
