It's set right on the sand, with a private path bringing you down to the shoreline – meaning you can dip your toes in the sea within seconds of closing the door. The outdoor deck has a hot tub, where you can watch the sun go down with a glass of wine, along with a free-standing bath tub and dining area, for alfresco meals with a view of the Cornish coast. Inside, large windows usher in loads of sunlight, and a fireplace brings warmth on those cooler evenings. The unique bedrooms feature plush beds with ornate headboards, as well as one delightful four-poster bed fitted with sumptuous white curtains. Take a short drive to sample Padstow's famous seafood restaurants, admire the Bedruthan cliffs or enrol in surf school at Watergate Bay – there's something for everyone in this charming spot in North Cornwall.

If you are not snuggled up in front of your Charnwood stove, with your slippers resting on the cream rug, there is a beautifully laid dining area ready for afternoon tea and a slice of cake. The decor is layered with delicate neutrals and the vast windows cast a wash of natural light over the space. Ideal for a family, the centre island makes for a perfect social space where everyone can relax together whilst dinner simmers away. To the centre of the house is the delightfully curved staircase. Upstairs, the bedrooms are generous with large luxurious throws. Beyond the cottage-style windows is a beautiful green space, where in the summer months, breakfast can be enjoyed alfresco. 

Spend your days exploring picturesque Cornwall – the beaches, the coastal paths, the delightful little cafes. There really is something for everyone and this generous little cottage has thought of everything. For those that enjoy surfing, a traditional water barrel awaits for wetsuit dipping and a charcoal barbecue is ready for when you need to refuel. In the colder months, the family can huddle around the fire with a good movie. One of our favourite touches is the large freestanding bath. If you fancy a little ‘me’ time, just pour a glass of your favourite tipple and sink down into the bubbles. You really will feel the sense of seaside serenity wash over you.

Spend idyllic days in the Cornish countryside when you stay at this recently converted barn, situated a twelve-minute drive from beautiful Padstow. Enjoy long walks on the South West Coast Path – the cliff tops at Park Head offer incredible views across to the sea stacks at Bedruthan Steps (a ten-minute ride away). Back at this wonderful barn – it's perfect for a family or a group of friends looking for a tranquil retreat. Inside, we were blown away by the rustic charm mixed with elegant modernism. We love the Delabole slate bathrooms, exposed stone walls and vaulted beams throughout this home. In fact, this place has been designed with socialising and entertaining in mind – it's a great space to spend quality time together. On chillier days, curl up in front of the cosy wood-burning stoves in the living room or den and settle in for an evening of board games with the family. There are four acres of grounds to explore here, including orchards and wildflower meadows. There's even an outdoor shower, so you can rinse off after visiting the beach – your lovely hosts have really thought of everything here.  Our favourite spot in the garden has to be the magical summerhouse – savour the spectacular views that stretch to the Atlantic Ocean or recline on the day bed and read a book. It's just one of the many fantastic features that make this home so very special.

On the other hand, Holywell Bay has one of the most beautiful beaches in the county. You’ll be pleased to know it's only a five-minute walk from your door, where alongside stunning scenery, you’ll find a gorgeous coastal path, and a handful of charming beachside cafes and eateries. Refuel on local produce at the Gull Rocks Bar & Coffee House at the beach’s entrance after an afternoon spent splashing about, and take in the stunning vistas afforded by its prime location. The Treguth Inn, hailing back to the thirteenth century also awaits just five minutes away, while several more traditional pubs and desirable restaurants can be found within a fifteen-minute drive. The choice is all yours. 

A short twenty-minute drive away is the Gannel Estuary, which separates neighbouring Crantock village from Newquay. Have a go at canoeing in the estuary, or try your hand at paddle-boarding over in Crantock. On quieter days, why not go for fish and chips followed by some ice cream in idyllic fishing villages such as Mevagissey, Mousehole or Gorran Haven, all within an hour's drive? Whatever you choose to do, you won't be short of fun.

There's a distinct boho edge to the interior design in this Newquay apartment, what with the hanging macrame, house plants and array of woven furnishings. Mixed with the natural light from the skylights and the stark white walls, it's inescapably relaxing. The neatly tiled bathrooms bring a touch of spa quality and the wooden dining table illuminated by the overhanging light fixture is ideal for gathering the group around for a hearty supper after a day out at the seaside — there's no shortage of beaches in the town, that's for sure. Tolcarne Beach is only two minutes' walk away and the larger Newquay Beach takes ten. An added benefit is that the apartment itself has storage options for surfboards and bicycles, which gives you alternative ways to explore the Cornish coastline.

Rum & Raisin

Part of a restored Victorian lighthouse, this home is one of the most unique to be found on the Cornish coast. Spend a peaceful morning watching the fishing boats coming in and out of Padstow – there are almost panoramic views of the sea from the garden. Head down to the nearby Harlyn Bay, a sheltered family beach with a wide crescent of yellow sand, rock pools and safe swimming (a lifeguard is on duty in the summer months). The Eden Project is a thirty-minute drive away, and there are plenty of bistros and cafes nearby, including Rick Stein's seafood restaurant. Evenings can be spent walking the coastal paths lit up by dramatic sunsets. And retreating indoors isn’t so bad either when you have a cosy wood-burning stove to greet you.

Virginia

This home is a mere 10-minute walk to Portcothan Bay; one of those mythical English beaches with golden sand, surfing, and watersports. Nearby Padstow, a 15-minute drive away, is famous for its local food and restaurants, including Rick Stein's Cafe and Paul Ainsworth at No.6. The Trevose Country Club will satiate your resident golfer (and also houses a spa), and there are several National Trust hotspots around, such as the Bedruthan Steps; a coastline walk you won't forget. What's more, even during bad weather, there's plenty to do. Cosy up by the novel wood burner after a country walk or throw the glass doors open and eat and drink on the patio on a warm balmy night. The open-plan living and dining space is ideal for a larger group, and the kitchen is kitted out for cooking at home and a seamless night in enjoying the warm, rustic aesthetic.

Tucked away in the charming streets of Padstow, this laid-back cottage blends a youthful personality with rustic roots. That's why wooden beams, flagstone floors and crates repurposed as tables rub shoulders with industrial-chic lighting, comfy furnishings in bold colours and dazzlingly white bathrooms complete with rainfall showers. 

After a long day by the seaside, put your feet up in front of the log burner with a good book and a glass of wine in hand. We also liked the large blue kitchen, where you can cook up a storm when you're feeling peckish – the pendant lights hanging above the island are actually made from old kilner jars – as well as the bedrooms with their antique French beds, which will add a sense of occasion to your nightly routine. 

Although the local neighbourhood feels residential, the town's lively harbour and the surrounding cafes, gourmet restaurants and seaside pubs can be reached in under five minutes on foot. There's no shortage of beautiful beaches in North Cornwall either, with St George’s Cove a twenty-minute trek along the South West Coast Path and Hawker's Cove an eleven-minute drive away. All in all, it's a great place to call home on your Cornish getaway.

Situated between Newquay and Padstow, on the breathtaking North Cornwall coast, this spectacular seaside retreat is far enough away to avoid the summer crowds yet close enough to offer easy access to both of these popular resorts.

Hidden away within the farmlands of Watergate Bay in gorgeous North Cornwall, this charming former barn is a mere seven-minute drive from Newquay Beach. In this traditional stone building, the interiors carefully balance rustic elements of the former farm with elegant, modern sensibilities. You can’t help but immediately notice the vast, high ceilings and thick beams welcoming you to the living space. Its chunky, wooden dining bench is ideal for gathering everyone around with a glass of red wine to say cheers to the start of the holiday. From the open-plan lounge, fitted with a bespoke log burning fire, you can enjoy sweeping views of rolling green fields from the picturesque Juliet balcony. And on warm summer nights, head out to the large terrace and light up the barbecue. On your second patio, you’ll find a sun-drenched spot with comfy loungers for reclining and soaking up the sun. It’s also a perfect pad for surf fans, with an outdoor shower and a board storage area round the back. After riding the waves on the Cornish coast, there’s nothing better than coming home and cosying up by the fire with a tumbler of whisky in hand.

Oat & Treacle

Found in the quaint Cornish village of Trevone, this home is the key to unlocking the stretch of coast between the more popular options of Newquay and Polzeath. Start off at Trevone Bay and work your way towards Harlyn Bay Beach, Treyarnon Bay and Pentire Steps Beach without driving more than twenty minutes out. Be sure to stop off at the beautiful Trevose Head Lighthouse along the way. 

Reflecting the beauty of its coastal surroundings, the inside of the home has a calm sense about it. Soft blues, crisp whites and wooden elements make the vibrant colours of the dining set pop, adding a quirky touch to an otherwise sophisticated space. Sit around the table to eat or take your meals outside for an alfresco experience around the picnic-style bench. 

Bookworms will delight in the little library on offer here – select whatever draws you in most and curl up on the sofa next to the wood-burning stove to read whilst nursing a freshly brewed coffee from the cafetiere. 

The conservatory makes for a great social space, so gather together after dinner to enjoy a bottle, or two, of wine before taking a soak in the tub before doing it all again the next day.

When browsing for holiday lets, one often has to sacrifice living space for proximity to attractions. Not with this three-bed, six-person apartment in the well-known Cornish fishing town of Padstow. Just a minute’s walk from the harbour, and Rick Stein’s world famous fish and chips, it also has generous living rooms, a large patio garden and ample parking. Other highlights include a spa bath, 65” smart TV with Bluetooth speakers and modern furniture which gives the whole space a fresh, clean feel. Take a short foot ferry across to Rock for great beaches and more great seafood restaurants - or bring the catch of the day home for home-cooking.

The Blue Sandpiper

With a log burner to keep winter breaks toasty and an enclosed courtyard for fun in the summer sun, we think this cosy Cornish home is the bee's knees. Modern and unfussy, it's ideal for a family or a small group of friends. Everything you'll need taken care of, including a fully-stocked kitchen, fluffy towels and a delightful welcome basket filled with local goodies. This St Merryn home isn't far from the coast – just a five-minute drive, in fact – and there are hints to the seaside everywhere you look, from the beach hut blinds in the twin room to the pictures on the walls. The scent of lavender wafts in through the double doors on warm evenings, while the side patio is perfect for alfresco feasts as the afternoons draw to a close. Don't fancy cooking? Not a problem. You're never far from a great pub, with several to choose from in the village itself – including Rick Stein's The Cornish Arms – and an excellent bakery to boot. There are so many beaches nearby, you can sprawl out on a different one each day (the closest is Harlyn Bay Beach), but for a change of scenery, charming Padstow is just a ten-minute drive away.

Lavender Afterglow

A big family home in the ever-popular town of Padstow, this place has plenty of wow factors – from rare private parking to stunning views across the River Camel estuary. Set on a slope, its three floors make the most of its position with views getting better and better at the top of the house. Inside, it's a tasteful blend of period features and contemporary styling, with a subtle nod towards its coastal location in its palette of whites, greys and blues. The Edwardian home has been thoroughly updated to provide a perfect spot for a large family getaway. There are two living rooms to choose from (one for the youngsters to hang out in, perhaps?) and a big kitchen diner with an Aga and everything you'll need to cook on night's in. We particularly love the big bedroom on the top floor, with its panoramic estuary views all the way across to Rock, and the semi-covered patio at the back where you can barbecue on sunny afternoons. The garden goes up in steps from the house, finally reaching a raised deck with a dining table and chairs – the ideal place to enjoy the sunshine and that famous view. Just minutes away on foot, Padstow's beautiful harbour and legendary dining scene offer all sorts of options, and it's just a short hike along the coast to the nearest beach. Or catch the foot ferry and paddle in the clear waters at Rock.  

Rock Eye

This wonderful Canadian-style lodge offers the best of both worlds for adventurous visitors. With easy access to both Cornwall's dramatic coastline and the rolling countryside, it's a wonderful place to embrace the great outdoors in style.

The spacious log cabin has plenty of room for up to eight guests, meaning everyone can put their feet up to enjoy some peace and quiet. The wood-panelled walls create a cosy ambience, and you'll love spending your evenings around the rustic table, sharing some tales of your excursions. Or, if the sun is shining, you can head out onto the balcony and breathe in the fresh air as you sip a tipple and enjoy the view. 

Walkers and cyclists are in the perfect position to start exploring – simply lace up your boots or hop on your bike and away you go. A short drive will bring you to the sea, where you can discover long, sandy beaches and hidden coves. Surfers can head to Harlyn Bay Beach to catch some waves, while golfers can take a short drive over to the local course to tee off. 

Golden Honey

This seaside cottage is located a few streets back from the sea; but as it’s situated atop a hill, it still boasts wonderful ocean views. Take in these panoramic vistas from the master bedroom or walk on down to the beach to experience it all in person – just a three-minute stroll away. 

The private balcony is idyllically set up for a glass of wine as the sun sets in the balmy sky come evening time. With four bedrooms for eight guests, this coastal getaway is ideal for an extended family. The back garden contains plenty of isolated seating spaces, perfect for a summer barbecue, dining alfresco or simply soaking in the sun. 

The inside is also spacious, with a large open-plan kitchen and dining room and a piano in the entrance hall. We especially love the conservatory; where you can enjoy the sunshine without stepping outdoors. However, we’d recommend making a beeline for Newquay’s celebrated Lusty Glaze Beach and the abundance of surfboards, wet suits and bodyboards that are available to rent. With food and drink options aplenty, a day on the beach simply isn't complete without cornish ice cream in the afternoon or a good old fashioned fish and chips come dinnertime.
