Breezy and bright, this home has quintessential English seaside written all over it. Whether you're here to top up your tan, hike breathtaking coastal paths or surf Fistral's world-class waves, you couldn't be more perfectly positioned to enjoy everything that Newquay has to offer. On arrival, it's hard to look past the view over the beach. So swing open the French doors, breathe in that sea air and listen to the sounds of the sea – the soundtrack to your stay. We loved the relaxed living spaces that made us nostalgic for childhood holidays to the Cornish coast. It's the ideal spot to sit back with your morning coffee as you plan what to do with your day. Of course, the beach offers something completely different depending on the weather. Blow away the cobwebs on a windy walk, brave a bracing dip, or soak up the sun on the sand. As for the surfing? That's a year-round pursuit. There's no such thing as cold water, just the wrong gear. And there are plenty of local surf shops that can kit you out. Away from the beach, the town beckons with an excellent selection of seafood restaurants and cool cafes with some classic Cornish fare too. Who doesn't love a pasty? Families will love the zoo and aquarium, while couples can enjoy the sunset from the comfort of a contemporary home with views to die for.

Swallow's Hide-Out

Nestled in the beautiful Cornish countryside, this lavish lodge is perfect for groups who are planning a relaxing getaway. With plenty of space for all the family, a range of fabulous amenities, and easy access to the coast, it ticks all the boxes and then a few more. 

With two living rooms and an outdoor terrace, everyone can find their own patch of peace and quiet to enjoy with a good book. When you get hungry, fire up the barbeque and serve up a tasty alfresco feast as you admire the view across the lake. If you're feeling active, head out for a walk around the shared grounds, run on the 5k track, or swim some laps in the indoor swimming pool. If you'd rather take it easy, treat yourself to a session in the spa, before slipping into your private hot tub for a soak under the stars. 

When it comes to day trips, you're spoilt for choice here. Hikers and cyclists can join one of the local trails to explore the stunning landscapes of north Cornwall. Newquay is less than twenty minutes away by car, where you'll find world-class surfing along with boutiques, restaurants, and bars. And, the fishing port of Padstow is a similar distance away, with its pretty harbour and traditional charm. 

Swallow Lodge

Part of a restored Victorian lighthouse, this home is one of the most unique to be found on the Cornish coast. Spend a peaceful morning watching the fishing boats coming in and out of Padstow – there are almost panoramic views of the sea from the garden. Head down to the nearby Harlyn Bay, a sheltered family beach with a wide crescent of yellow sand, rock pools and safe swimming (a lifeguard is on duty in the summer months). The Eden Project is a thirty-minute drive away, and there are plenty of bistros and cafes nearby, including Rick Stein's seafood restaurant. Evenings can be spent walking the coastal paths lit up by dramatic sunsets. And retreating indoors isn’t so bad either when you have a cosy wood-burning stove to greet you.

Virginia

Experience the magic of the Cornish coast with a stay in this expansive beach house. You’ll be welcomed by sea views, locally sourced art, sculptures and designer furnishings. There’s plenty of space for socialising as well as cosy evenings by the wood burning fire or movie nights in the cinema room. All of the bedrooms come with sea views and three of them feature freestanding bathtubs – perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. Outside, there’s a terrace, a barbecue and a garden path leading directly to Booby's Bay beach. From here, you can join the South West Coastal Path and it’s just a ten-minute drive into Padstow. There's also a golf course right next door. 


Clifftop Retreat

Settle into an idyllic Cornish country and coastal stay in this secluded and stylish one-bedroom barn. Beyond its stunning stone and slate exterior, you'll find small nods to its rustic origins – cornish slate and oak floors, and a stylish farmhouse kitchen perfect for self-catering.

Upstairs, a spacious double bedroom also boasts a separate seating area with views out over the gorgeous landscapes. During peak holiday periods, the leather armchairs can be switched out for a couple of single beds, transforming this couple's retreat into a family-friendly getaway. There's also a sleek slate bathroom with a walk-in shower and separate bath.

Make the most of long summer days by relaxing in the private garden, just a stone's throw from the orchard. The farm also boasts a shared outdoor pool, hot tub, gym and studio, while there's plenty to keep the kids entertained – from feeding the pigs and alpacas to collecting eggs each morning to bouncing on the trampoline and flying through the air on the zipline.

A little over a mile down the road is the coastal hotspot of Polzeath, with its beautiful beach and peeling waves make it one of the most famous surf spots along Cornwall's North Coast, while the town boasts plenty of cool cafes and seafood restaurants to refuel after a day of sun, sea and sand.

Bull’s Barn

This delightful family home is a splendid base for seaside escapes. It overlooks Porthcothan Bay and is just 600 metres from the beach. The Georgian farmhouse has everything you might need for a peaceful break on the coast, including a hot tub and a conservatory with sea and valley views. There’s also a terrace with a table and chairs that are perfect for an alfresco cream tea. If the weather isn’t ideal, you can always curl up in front of the log fire. 

The Artistic Studio

If you’re looking for a bohemian escape in Cornwall, then look no further. This rustic hideaway is perfect for a solo traveller or a couple looking to get in touch with the raw beauty of the Cornish countryside and who care most about the luxuries of the soul – great music, fantastic light, the roar of the waves. This snazzy barn conversion has bucketloads of character and soulful perks, including a piano, a record player with a vast collection of vinyl, and its own mini sauna. Throw in the super-king sized bed, a brand new bathroom (with bathtub) and kitchen, its location (snuggled away in ancient woodland), the fact that it’s just a five-minute drive to the nearest pub and beach at Crackington Haven, and you’ve got a rural retreat you’ll want to keep quiet about, so you can keep it for yourself. 

Musician's Escape

Located in central Newquay, this home delivers a great base for a refreshing coastal escape. From here, it’s a short stroll to the beach, while the nearest restaurants, shops and cafes are all within easy reach. Back at home, you’ll find the open-plan living room lends itself perfectly to cosy gatherings by the fire. Board games are provided, children’s amenities can be arranged, and there’s the handy addition of a sofa bed for two guests. Other highlights include the sea views from the main bedroom and the private garden – a sweet spot for summer evening drinks. 


Surf the Wave

Step into this achingly romantic wooden hut in St Kew, Cornwall, for a whirlwind getaway unlike any other. Decorated in an eclectic, bohemian style, you’ll want to fire up the stove and sink right into a pile of embroidered cushions with a mug of hot chocolate. You’ll also have your own private deck on which to drink tea, as well as a wood-fired hot tub – the ultimate way to relax. The mezzanine bedroom area was made for sleeping to the sound of rain falling on the roof – just hope that it clears up quickly in the morning – or listening out for the call of a barn owl passing by. And the north Cornwall coast, with some of the country’s most beautiful beaches, is just a ten-minute drive away. Spend a day at charming Port Isaac, or hop on your bike to take on the Camel Trail – and don't forget to stop in at the country pub across the lane on your way home. 

A New Belonging

Nestled in the village of Rock, this home is an ideal choice for a coastal family getaway. Inside, the traditional style may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s well-equipped and has everything you’d expect in a home-away-from-home. The outdoor space is a treat, with plenty of room for younger family members to burn off a little energy while the grown-ups light the pizza oven to prepare an alfresco feast. And with the tranquil waters of Rock beach just a short distance away, there’s plenty of fun to be had for families and water sports enthusiasts alike. 

A Nest Of Sails

With beautiful views over Watergate Bay, this apartment is the perfect place for a small family or couple of friends to escape to the seaside. Located just four hundred metres from the beach, you get the best of both worlds staying here – enjoy wonderful vistas and waterfront access without any of the crowds. When you're not hanging out on the balcony – the perfect spot to sip bubbly and watch the ocean waves – head inside to the bright open-plan living area. Sleek, modern and welcoming, this all-in-one space invites guests to spend some quality time together, whether that's sharing a delicious homecooked meal, curling up by the fire or watching a movie on the Bluray player. We love all the mod-cons, too – including underfloor heating, a wine fridge and rainfall showers in the bathrooms. There's also communal gardens and a shared barbecue area for sunny summer evenings. Surfers will be delighted to hear there's surfboard storage and an outdoor shower, but those less keen on conquering the waves can just stroll along the coastal path or grab a bite to eat at one of the restaurants along the water. Or spend the day exploring the surrounding area – Watergate Bay is nestled between Padstow and Newquay, so there are excellent options for an afternoon out and about.

Grey Seal

Kids and adults alike will be enchanted by this cottage nestled in the rolling green countryside. With a range of excellent amenities and plenty of space to enjoy, it's a great pick at any time of year. 

The soothing interior, cloaked in blue tones and natural textures, is a haven where you can truly relax. Fire up the wood-burner on chilly evenings and curl up with a good movie. And, on sunny days, you'll be delighted that there's a large lawn where the kids can play while you sit at the picnic table with a cool drink and breathe in the fresh air. 

This home is in an excellent location for you to explore the world-famous Cornish coastline. The popular town of Newquay, renowned for its surfer community, is just a fifteen-minute drive away, and there are several beaches to explore from sandy shorelines to hidden coves. Mawgan Porth beach is a leisurely twenty-minute stroll from the home – on your way back why not enjoy a trip to the village pub? For the adrenaline fans among you, try your hand at cycling, hiking, wild swimming or kayaking in the local area.
