This beautiful Grade II-listed Georgian Manor House in the heart of Cornwall is perfect for large gatherings and celebrations. Tucked away among thirty acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, there are plenty of woodland paths, ponds and rolling hills for adults and children alike to enjoy. Gyllyngvase Beach takes less than twenty minutes to reach in the car as well. Alternatively, you could use the large lawn at the front of the home for a friendly game of croquet or cricket. Inside, you’ll be blown away by the high ceilings, snug drawing rooms and period-inspired furnishings that will bring a touch of elegance to your holiday. However, there are so many ways to let loose here. The conservatory, for example, has a billiards table, disco ball and sound system, and there's also table tennis that can be set up in the rear hall or courtyard. On sunny days, the patio with its barbecue and alfresco dining area will naturally be the place to be, but there's also the option to slip away from the crowds for a dip in the outdoor hot tub, complete with candles and LED lighting.

Festivities

Situated a ten-minute walk from Fistral Beach and Newquay Golf Club, this comfortable apartment is a fabulous seaside escape for a family or couple of friends who like to spend their time outdoors. Inside, an open-plan living space with a tropically sweet pink and green colour scheme opens up onto a private balcony, where you can sit out with indulgent cream tea and watch fishing boats slip over the horizon. A clever kitchen makes light work of whipping up culinary favourites, but if you’d prefer to eat out, there’s a fine selection of restaurants a fifteen-minute walk from your doorstep. Once you’re fuelled and raring to go, scamper down to the waterfront to carve through crashing waves or relax on golden sands. Head home at the end of a windswept day, tuck away your surfboard in the storage provided and fall back into comfortable beds for a night of sweet dreams. 

Fistral Vista

Tucked away on the edge of Carbis Bay, this hidden gem presents the perfect spot to unwind and reconnect with nature. Upon arrival, wander along the pathway through the gardens until you reach the private gated area. From here you'll have your own secluded slice of nature to enjoy in peaceful serenity. 

Listen to the trickling stream with a cup of coffee in hand, or surround yourself with views of verdant greens and ocean blues on the elevated viewing platform. The south-facing terrace area is a lovely little sun trap and makes for an idyllic reading or sunbathing spot for ever-craved lazy days soaking up some vitamin D. On chillier days curl up in front of the wood burner fire with your favourite Netflix show playing in the background. 

Carbis bay beach is just a fifteen-minute walk away down the hill where you can go swimming in its shallow crystal clear waters. Continue your walk a little further to the popular resort town of St Ives, reachable in thirty-five minutes (or eight minutes by car or bus). With the Tate, Barbara Hepworth Museum, lots of beautiful beaches great for swimming or surfing, as well as an array of independent shops, restaurants and cafes – this home is sure to fulfil the needs of surfers. walkers, swimmers, cyclists and art lovers.

Penhallow's Point

This restored Cornish farmhouse, dating back to 1278, offers guests a warm welcome. From a homemade fish pie ready to be popped in the Aga upon arrival to the fluffy towels in the bathrooms, a stress-free stay is guaranteed from start to finish. The rooms are thoughtfully styled with period antiques, and the conservatory, offering distant sea views, is the ideal place to enjoy a pre-dinner drink. Head outside, and you’ll find an enclosed garden with seating and a barbecue. Fancy exploring? Set off on the South West Coast Path or head to Porthleven, a thirteen-minute drive away.

Honeysuckle House

Located in central Newquay, this home delivers a great base for a refreshing coastal escape. From here, it’s a short stroll to the beach, while the nearest restaurants, shops and cafes are all within easy reach. Back at home, you’ll find the open-plan living room lends itself perfectly to cosy gatherings by the fire. Board games are provided, children’s amenities can be arranged, and there’s the handy addition of a sofa bed for two guests. Other highlights include the sea views from the main bedroom and the private garden – a sweet spot for summer evening drinks. 


Surf the Wave

Most tourists make a beeline for the Cornish coast – but little do they know that this beloved landscape is home to another beautiful feature, the Fal River. The surroundings here are slightly different, where green pasture gives way to mixed woodland and small pebbled riverside beaches. This characterful, quintessentially Cornish cottage dates back to the 1800s and provides perfect panoramic views over these stunning vistas, with three separate outside seating areas to choose from. Watch the sailboats float by as you lie on the garden bed, or have breakfast on the terrace while waving to a passing paddle-boarder – the river is never far away, and you can even view the shimmering water from your double bed. Trelissick is just a twenty-minute drive away, and Swanpool Beach is a sandy cove half an hour away, beside Swanpool Nature Reserve. After all that exploring, stop at the local inn three doors down for a pint before heading home to play a board game in front of the cosy log burner. 

Fal River Cottage

There are lots of things that impressed us about this cute cottage close to the North Cornish coastline. First off, there's a lot of room inside considering it's only for two people, with the modern corner kitchen particularly large — and well-equipped for that matter. This generosity with space will have contributed towards the M2 Accessibility Rating it received from Visit England, which marks the single-level property out as suitable for guests with reduced mobility and part-time wheelchair users. What's more, there's a private sandstone patio complete with alfresco seating and a hot tub from which to enjoy summer evening sunsets. If you prefer to watch this while sitting on the sand with the sound of the waves lapping nearby, Perranporth Beach is less than ten minutes' drive. Similarly, the towns of Truro and Newquay only take a quarter of an hour to reach by car.

Lord of the Isles

Set in a privileged position overlooking the Blue Flag-awarded Carbis Bay Beach, this apartment offers barefoot luxury, stunning interiors and jaw-dropping views in one of the UK's most inspiring stretches of coast. The interior is beautifully styled, with crisp, clean decor and deep blue highlights throughout, from the awning-striped curtains and plant prints to the contemporary kitchen and outdoor furniture. The open-plan living room features a comfortable corner sofa that you can stretch out on with the French doors flung open and enjoy alfresco breakfasts out on the balcony. Elsewhere, the master bedroom boasts an en-suite, plus its own set of large French doors that frame those picture-perfect views and open up to you can enjoy that fresh early morning sea breeze from the sanctuary of your bedroom. At the front of the building, a communal garden is perfect for casual picnic lunches. Then, a few minutes' walk away, hop on board the train for the short scenic journey to St Ives. The town offers mouthwatering cuisine and an abundance of culture thanks to Tate St Ives.

Seagulls Soar

Newquay is the heart of Cornwall, and this stylish home resides right in the centre of its vibrant streets and gorgeous beaches. Upbeat and full of character, it's the type of place that makes you feel like you're truly on holiday.

Fans of sunbathing and surfing will be pleased to know you're just a twelve-minute walk from the beach. Wander over in the mornings to catch the waves or just rest your towel on the golden sands. Pack refreshments and you're able to spend a whole day under the gentle glow of the summer sun.

Head inland and you'll find the charming restaurants, pubs and cafes that shape Newquay. The entire town is set up for tourists, so you'll feel extremely welcome perusing the independent stores and cute shops. 

Whether you spend your days at the beach or just basking in the buoyancy of the town, head back home in the evening for dinner in the garden. In the warmer months, it's a dreamy spot for Cornish pasties and a few glasses of wine. 

When the weather is a bit cooler, gather in the snug living room with a film or just chat away about tomorrow's adventure. 


New In Town

Set on twenty-six acres of rolling farmland and blessed with soaring vaulted ceilings, a sociable open layout and plenty of natural light – there's a lot to love about this gorgeous Cornish cottage. 

Underfloor heating, a wood burner and a sumptuous corner sofa create a cosy atmosphere during the cooler months. Meanwhile, an enclosed garden, outdoor hot tub and a west-facing deck make for a spectacular spot to sip on sundowners as golden hour approaches on those seemingly endless summer days.

Settle in around a fire pit in the communal courtyard and sink some beers with new friends. And on those occasions when the weather isn't playing ball, your hosts are more than happy to set up a screening room in their event space – blankets and popcorn provided.

A mile down the road is the village of Stithians. Here, you'll find a popular pub serving modern takes on British classics, a couple of well-stocked corner shops and even an artisan bakery (who'll deliver to your door if you like). But, of course, there's no need to stop by a supermarket with all this on your doorstep, though you'll find a few options 4.5 miles away in Redruth.

Stithians reservoir is sure to appeal to watersports enthusiasts, with sailing, windsurfing and paddleboarding on offer, while the Mineral Tramways cycle path is also worth exploring.

The cottage's location in the west of the county makes it impossible to stray far from either the north or south coast. Seasoned surfers and weekend warriors will appreciate the proximity to plenty of excellent surf spots, including Porthtowan, Gwithian, and Porthleven, all within half an hour's drive.

The Cornish Barn

Neatly tucked away on a quiet country lane, this former cowshed has been beautifully converted into a comfortable family getaway. A bright and breezy kitchen-diner is the heart of the home, where suppers are devoured and the day’s anecdotes are shared over a bottle of wine. Bifold doors reveal a sun trap patio, complete with barbecue and seating area – it’s the perfect spot for an ice-cold drink on balmy afternoons. When the time’s right, grab the beach gear from the shed and hotfoot it down to the idyllic Holywell Bay – it’ll take you twenty-five minutes if you’re walking but just five in the car. And if you’re in the mood for a little more action, the vibrant seaside town of Newquay is a ten-minute drive away. After sand castle building and bodyboarding, retreat to your cosy pad for a cup of tea and well-deserved biscuit or two in front of the crackling wood-burning stove. 

Glowing Up

If you like the idea of going eco-friendly for a while but don't want to completely give up on comforts, this cosy barn powered by renewable energy could just be a happy compromise. 

The renovated cob and stone property sits within six acres of idyllic riverside woodland and is built out of natural materials, including oak, lime, cob, pigmented clay plaster and locally sourced slate. Inside, there are a few rustic features, such as the exposed stonework and wood-burning fireplace, but otherwise, it's undeniably contemporary thanks to the conservatory, sleek kitchen and pristine bathrooms. The fact that it's powered by a wind turbine and a heat pump is pretty impressive, too.

Given the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding grounds, you'll be happy to hear that there's a natural swimming pool close to the home — shared only with the host, who lives on the site, and one other barn — as well as a barbecue and some spots for an alfresco feast. 

Although it feels like you're in splendid isolation at this address, you can head back to civilisation pretty swiftly if you wish. The town of Truro takes a quarter of an hour to reach in the car, while Perranporth Beach on the north and south Cornish coastlines can be reached in just under twenty-five.
