With exposed stone walls, a crackling wood-burning stove and cushy sofas fit for lounging, the atmosphere is utterly cosy and comfortable. A sumptuous bathtub is where you can soak away sore muscles after a long bike ride, while the kitchen has everything you need to rustle up a romantic meal, including a slow cooker. In the mornings, sip a cup of tea and tuck into a hearty breakfast in the living room; in the evenings, set up the barbecue on the large, grassy lawn and enjoy an alfresco feast as the sun goes down.

Set on the side of the River Camel valley, it offers plenty of sunshine and fishing opportunities to boot. It’s equally suitable for winter hibernation, too – the wood-burning fireplace, sink-in sofas and underfloor heating keep everything toasty on cold nights. 

Check out the surrounding villages for friendly gastropubs if you’re not in the mood to cook, though the kitchen comes fully equipped for delicious family-favourite meals. Build up an appetite with a yomp through the wilds of Bodmin Moor, jump on your bicycle and take to the Camel Trail right outside your doorstep or take the thirty-minute drive to Polzeath Beach for an afternoon spent frolicking on the expanse of golden sand.

This cosy Cornish cottage is an exemplary example of boutique living. There are all sorts of quirky additions to the interior that lend a sense of personality, from the record player and acoustic guitar to the book collection with plenty of local guides. The welcome gift of Cornish wine and produce is also a lovely touch.

That being said, all the essentials are nailed, too. In the living room, the wood-burning stove will really come into its own during colder evenings, as will the pretty freestanding tub in the bathroom. The long turquoise kitchen is plenty big enough for whipping up hearty suppers after a long day of exploring Cornwall's great outdoors.

If you're into your rambling, Bodmin Moor starts just over five minutes' drive from your front door, with stone circles and tors to punctuate your walking. Both Fistral and Polzeath Beaches take around forty minutes to reach in the car. If, however, you want to see the local area on two wheels, the home comes with a pair of bicycles that guests are more than welcome to borrow and the Camel Trail lies two minutes' pedal from the front door.

Nestled atop the cliffs of Tintagel sits this cosy coastal loft, which provides a fantastic base from which to explore this gorgeous part of North Cornwall. It's compact and comfortable, and ideal for a solo traveller or a couple – and although it's a little dated in its decor, it has everything you need for a home-from-home stay, and even features a pretty little patio area where you can enjoy your morning coffee. From here, it's just a short stroll to the heart of the village, where you can pick up some baked goods for breakfast, or enjoy a pint in a friendly pub.

King Arthur's Neighbour

This cosy barn-turned-cottage is a tranquil escape for couples looking to discover what gems dot the North Cornish coast. From here, it's a quick drive to Padstow, Port Isaac and Tintagel, their beaches and historical landmarks. Closer to home, scenic walks on Bodmin Moor or the Camel Trail might also call solo hikers to hunker down here. Though the rustic style might not be everyone's cup of tea, it's comfortable for two, and we feel the exposed beams and wood-burning stove add to the homeliness of the space. The picnic bench in the garden is a welcome addition for alfresco meals and sunset drinks.

Stepping into the home, you'll find all the quaint nooks and crannies – from sloped ceilings, beams and a slate floor – while the sleek kitchen and swanky bathroom adds that extra level of luxury. Come together for afternoon tea in the cosy living room with a crushed velvet chesterfield sofa, an antique rug and a leather brown armchair. Elsewhere, find a comfy snug that's sheltered by the statement spiral staircase and makes for a lovely spot to catch up on literature on those drizzly days inside. Once part of the Lanhydrock Estate, this recently converted barn sports a contemporary look and plenty of modern comforts without losing any of its traditional charm. Original timber beams and exposed stone walls hark back to the barn's heyday, but the electric car charging point, rainfall shower and Sonos speakers are just a few of the 21st-century updates. This is the perfect spot for a family to unwind in the Cornish countryside. While parents rustle up a meal in the kitchen, kids can hang out in their own room, playing on the Xbox One. On summer evenings, everyone will enjoy a barbecue in the courtyard before retreating inside to the cosy living area for a movie night, but when the weather turns nippy, cuddle up by the log burner instead. There's plenty to get up to in the local area, too. You're almost equidistant from both the North and South coasts of Cornwall. Spend a day at the beach in Padstow or visit historic Charlestown, both of which are less than a forty-minute drive away. For those who enjoy long country ambles, Cardinham Woods is just five miles away and offers plenty of walking and cycling trails. After a stroll in the fresh air, finish the day with a coffee at the pet-friendly woodland cafe or a pint at one of the pubs in nearby Bodmin.

Now, you can have your own Cornish romance in this charming cottage, a fifteen-minute walk from Padstow. Glorious sandy beaches surround this town, and it's known for fishing and the high-end restaurants of celebrity chefs Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth too.

Back at this home, whip up a Cornish cream tea in the modern kitchen with its metro tiles and breakfast bar and enjoy it at one of two outdoor tables (at the front or back) – our favourite is the front garden with its lawn and drystone wall. This lovely cottage is the perfect retreat for two.


A Cornish Romance

A big family home in the ever-popular town of Padstow, this place has plenty of wow factors – from rare private parking to stunning views across the River Camel estuary. Set on a slope, its three floors make the most of its position with views getting better and better at the top of the house. Inside, it's a tasteful blend of period features and contemporary styling, with a subtle nod towards its coastal location in its palette of whites, greys and blues. The Edwardian home has been thoroughly updated to provide a perfect spot for a large family getaway. There are two living rooms to choose from (one for the youngsters to hang out in, perhaps?) and a big kitchen diner with an Aga and everything you'll need to cook on night's in. We particularly love the big bedroom on the top floor, with its panoramic estuary views all the way across to Rock, and the semi-covered patio at the back where you can barbecue on sunny afternoons. The garden goes up in steps from the house, finally reaching a raised deck with a dining table and chairs – the ideal place to enjoy the sunshine and that famous view. Just minutes away on foot, Padstow's beautiful harbour and legendary dining scene offer all sorts of options, and it's just a short hike along the coast to the nearest beach. Or catch the foot ferry and paddle in the clear waters at Rock.

Quaint Cornish living and refined elegance come together in this stunning home. It’s in a wonderful location in beautiful Padstow, and has been recently redesigned to guarantee that guests have the most luxurious stay possible – it ticks every box. 

The house is just a seven-minute walk from the centre of Padstow and its pretty, characterful harbour. Perhaps you’ll stroll into town first thing for breakfast in one of the many cafes and restaurants, before making your way to the beach. Lower Beach is our favourite, and it’s just an eighteen-minute walk from the house. Take along your bucket and spade and make memories in this most picturesque part of the UK. 

When you make your way back to the house, sun-kissed and sandy, fire up the barbecue. Spend your evening in the garden, admiring the views of the Camel Estuary and watching the sun slowly set. The garden is the jewel in the crown of this lovely home, with comfortable seating and bi-folding doors than can be opened wide to give the living space a holiday feel.

You'll be struck by its swanky style, a mix of authentic stone walls and flooring with the centrepiece of a modern spiral staircase. Put your feet to good use and explore the town of Padstow and, venturing further, take to the Camel Trail, an eighteen-mile hiking (or cycling) trail that takes you through glorious coastal scenery. Back in Padstow, speedboat rides, cobbled souvenir shops, and a good old serving of fish and chips await.

When browsing for holiday lets, one often has to sacrifice living space for proximity to attractions. Not with this three-bed, six-person apartment in the well-known Cornish fishing town of Padstow. Just a minute’s walk from the harbour, and Rick Stein’s world famous fish and chips, it also has generous living rooms, a large patio garden and ample parking. Other highlights include a spa bath, 65” smart TV with Bluetooth speakers and modern furniture which gives the whole space a fresh, clean feel. Take a short foot ferry across to Rock for great beaches and more great seafood restaurants - or bring the catch of the day home for home-cooking.

An 18th-century building carefully restored to its original plan, it expertly showcases the building’s past through the use of exposed Cornish slated walls, original beams, restored feature fireplaces, and other raw materials that combine in a perfect mix of old and new.  

Formerly a listed Manor House, Courthouse, and Mill, the building is filled with a sense of history as well as its own unique character and sense of place. Lounge in the luxurious living spaces or enjoy a special meal together with your loved ones in the grand dining room that's flooded with that inimitable Cornish coastal light. The fantastically well-equipped kitchen means there has never been a better time to dust off the old chef's apron and put your culinary skills to the test. Here you'll find not one but four ovens, a pizza oven, Braai, and much more – so something tasty to eat is never far away.

One of our favourite things about this home has to be the garden, and we think it is the perfect place to sit back with a glass of wine and really savour that holiday feeling. Sophisticated navy and pretty powder blues replace the searing shades of beach umbrellas, and there’s no mistaking that magnificent stone fireplace and wood-burning stove as anything close to tacky. Right in the heart of Cornwall’s Padstow, we think this Grade II listed home would be a welcome oasis of calm and tranquility for any getaway. Return from a long day on the beach to relax in the sunny garden or sink into one of the sumptuous velvet couches, before heading out again for dinner in one of the many acclaimed restaurants nearby.

La La Lilypad

Padstow is one of Cornwall's most famous towns, and this home is in the perfect position for exploring it. A five-minute walk away from the harbour, the home is the right size for a family or small group of friends planning to decamp to this sought-after postcode. In warmer months, the house's two terraces have got 'alfresco drinks' written all over them – indulge in some people-watching from the front patio, or soak up the rays in the south-facing back garden. The fenced-in garden also has a barbecue for cooking up a feast, though the kitchen has plenty of equipment if the weather isn't playing ball. Wooden floorboards and old fireplaces hint at the home's history, with cosy touches such as deep sofas and throws in the lounge for keeping warm come the evening. You could spend days admiring the boats floating in the harbour and eating freshly-caught seafood in the local restaurants, and there are also plenty of coastal walks and sandy beaches to explore close by. This is seaside living at its very best.

Tucked away in the charming streets of Padstow, this laid-back cottage blends a youthful personality with rustic roots. That's why wooden beams, flagstone floors and crates repurposed as tables rub shoulders with industrial-chic lighting, comfy furnishings in bold colours and dazzlingly white bathrooms complete with rainfall showers. 

After a long day by the seaside, put your feet up in front of the log burner with a good book and a glass of wine in hand. We also liked the large blue kitchen, where you can cook up a storm when you're feeling peckish – the pendant lights hanging above the island are actually made from old kilner jars – as well as the bedrooms with their antique French beds, which will add a sense of occasion to your nightly routine. 

Although the local neighbourhood feels residential, the town's lively harbour and the surrounding cafes, gourmet restaurants and seaside pubs can be reached in under five minutes on foot. There's no shortage of beautiful beaches in North Cornwall either, with St George’s Cove a twenty-minute trek along the South West Coast Path and Hawker's Cove an eleven-minute drive away. All in all, it's a great place to call home on your Cornish getaway.

Just half a mile to the beach and surrounded by traditional British pubs, gourmet restaurants and shops, everything is well within reach here. Awarded a stunning face-lift by a restoration project early in 2018, the modern interiors come as a pleasant surprise. Stepping into the living room you'll notice many of the home's original features from the intricate fireplace, high ceilings and wooden flooring – but move into the kitchen and be struck by the sleek white cooking island, pristine tiled flooring and the sociable open-plan layout. From the dramatic spotlighting to a glass-topped dining table, this home will have you relaxing in style. Outside, the spot's pretty terrace calls out for alfresco drinks in the sunshine. In warmer months, fire up the barbecue and wait for the meat to sizzle with a nice glass of wine in the fresh ocean air. On chillier evenings, stroll into town for pub grub and sundown walks along the seafront.

Plus, there’s free parking so that you may easily explore all that this part of Cornwall has to offer without any stress. Inside, the dining and living room invites friendly socialising, while the kitchen is fully equipped and ready for wonderful home-cooking. Thanks to the outdoor dining table, guests lucky enough to stay at Treasure Box can also enjoy dining al fresco on the charming terrace with views of the coast and estuary. When you’re ready to head out for the day, you’ll be delighted to find yourself surrounded by pubs, shops, cafes and more. The nearest beach is a little outside of the town but still only a fifteen-minute walk away.

The interior has benefitted from a creative’s touch, with quirky furnishings and bold artwork creating a modern space. The cosy sitting room is decorated in such a way that you'll want to spend hours inside wiling away the time with board games in front of the fire. We also love the bathroom with its lino floor and rustic bathtub. However, this home’s perfect location means there’s also lots of fun to be had outside of the garden – even with that sea view. Whip up a picnic in the kitchen or make a smoothie with the Nutribullet and head up to Beeny Cliff, a dramatic headland immortalised in the poem by Thomas Hardy. Or alternatively, walk into the village and watch the boats go past in Boscastle’s historic harbour, less than a fifteen-minute stroll from your front door.

Sitting close to the point where the River Camel meets the Celtic Sea, there are many a reason to pay a visit to Padstow and whatever it is that brings you to this charming fishing town, this home offers a reliable place to rest your head at night.
