Just over a mile from the village of Stithians, down by the River Kennall, this stone cottage is set in the 7-acre land surrounding an old farmhouse. But despite its incredibly rural setting, staying here is far from the rustic experience you might expect. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Upon arrival, your host will warmly welcome you with a hamper full of luxury Cornish fare and home-baked goods to start your holiday right. While you nibble and sip, you can start exploring the cosy home. Fluffy rugs, plush sofas, and wooden floors create a sense of warmth and softness in the living space, but floor-to-ceiling windows bring the outside in. And the great outdoors are particularly great in this case. Under the wooden decking, get ready to pop champagne and soak in the hot tub. Or perhaps you’d rather recline on the outdoor sofas by the wood-burner, have a barbecue, or play a few rounds of table tennis? As you’re just a fifteen-minute drive to Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth, you’ll also need to pack a picnic one day and head for the shore (don’t forget to grab the beach towels that your host kindly provides).

This beautiful Grade II-listed Georgian Manor House in the heart of Cornwall is perfect for large gatherings and celebrations. Tucked away among thirty acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, there are plenty of woodland paths, ponds and rolling hills for adults and children alike to enjoy. Gyllyngvase Beach takes less than twenty minutes to reach in the car as well. Alternatively, you could use the large lawn at the front of the home for a friendly game of croquet or cricket. Inside, you’ll be blown away by the high ceilings, snug drawing rooms and period-inspired furnishings that will bring a touch of elegance to your holiday. However, there are so many ways to let loose here. The conservatory, for example, has a billiards table, disco ball and sound system, and there's also table tennis that can be set up in the rear hall or courtyard. On sunny days, the patio with its barbecue and alfresco dining area will naturally be the place to be, but there's also the option to slip away from the crowds for a dip in the outdoor hot tub, complete with candles and LED lighting.

While a car is necessary for travelling further afield, there are walks from your doorstep here or you can take a ride on the Helston Railway to soak up the scenery – it’ll stop at the bottom of the garden for you. If you’re hoping to explore the coastline – you’ll find the sandy beach at Portreath just a short drive away.

You could sneak in through the back at this apartment in a Regency manor, but that would take away from the grand entrance worthy of a Jane Austen heroine. Sashaying through the double doors and across the marble floor, past the stone fireplace, you come to your abode. It’s in the old ballroom of the manor, and the floor-to-ceiling bays windows and gilded mirrors haven’t changed since the days of swishing gowns and music from the pianoforte (indeed, there’s still a grand piano in here). 

Rather than a bandstand, there’s now a kitchen at the head of the ballroom, and if you prefer your evenings slightly more intimate, a book-lined snug with a plush velvet sofa awaits in the bedroom. We love the hand-carved antique bed, waiting to see you off to the land of nod.

There are acres of grounds to explore on the estate, but if you want to get out and see the Cornish coast, it’s just a ten-minute drive to the beaches of St Ives Bay. The gallery-filled old fishing town of St Ives itself is just twenty minutes by car.

Some homes are designed around a view and this is one of them. Perched close to the Cornish coastline, it's possible to gaze out at peaceful vistas of Swanpool lagoon or Falmouth Bay, depending on which of the floor-to-ceiling windows you're standing next to at any given moment. The best spot at the address, however, has to be the covered balcony, from which you can enjoy the coastal panorama with a sea breeze on your skin.

One added benefit of all this glass is the copious amount of natural light that it lets into the home and this asset is emphasised by the preference for stark white in the walls and the kitchen's sleek surfaces. The home's design is definitely shaped by contemporary minimalism, which will really sing to those who have no time for nautical kitsch found in plenty of local properties.

As a glimpse out the windows will tell you, the sea isn't all too far away – in fact, you can be standing on the sands of Swanpool beach in under five minutes' walk. This seaside spot sits on the South West Coast Path, so you can ramble on in either direction if you so wish. The town of Falmouth will take you half an hour to reach on foot, too.

For a unique and unforgettable experience, stay in this operational lighthouse on the furthest point of Cornwall’s Roseland Peninsula. The sea views are second-to-none, whether that’s from the sunny patio or the detached observation room – complete with a fireplace for cosy storm watching. Other than that, the cottage is private with no public access. You’ll park in the National Trust car park – it’s a 300-metre steep path down to the cottage from there. But, of course, there's no need to stop by a supermarket with all this on your doorstep, though you'll find a few options 4.5 miles away in Redruth.

Stithians reservoir is sure to appeal to watersports enthusiasts, with sailing, windsurfing and paddleboarding on offer, while the Mineral Tramways cycle path is also worth exploring.

The cottage's location in the west of the county makes it impossible to stray far from either the north or south coast. Seasoned surfers and weekend warriors will appreciate the proximity to plenty of excellent surf spots, including Porthtowan, Gwithian, and Porthleven, all within half an hour's drive.

Most tourists make a beeline for the Cornish coast – but little do they know that this beloved landscape is home to another beautiful feature, the Fal River. The surroundings here are slightly different, where green pasture gives way to mixed woodland and small pebbled riverside beaches. Trelissick is just a twenty-minute drive away, and Swanpool Beach is a sandy cove half an hour away, beside Swanpool Nature Reserve. After all that exploring, stop at the local inn three doors down for a pint before heading home to play a board game in front of the cosy log burner.

We love the open-plan living space, with its fully-equipped country kitchen, large dining table and cosy lounge, complete with a wood-burning stove. Spend mornings huddled here with a cup of tea, slathering salted butter onto fresh bread from the local bakery – delivered daily to your doorstep if you wish. Outside, you'll find the enclosed garden, promising privacy and dressed to the nines with a firepit, barbecue and woodfired hot tub. Spend balmy evenings here, toasting marshmallows at sunset.

With its off-the-beaten-track location and lush surroundings, we wouldn't blame you for never leaving this pocket of heaven. Though if you fancy exploring, the towns of Redruth, Falmouth and Helston are less than twenty minutes away by car, while the honeypot haunt of St Ives is a thirty-five-minute drive away. The closest village, Stithians, can be reached in half an hour on foot. Stop by for a hearty pub lunch, or visit the local reservoir for watersports galore.

Scandinavian cabin chic in the heart of the Cornish countryside, this gorgeous three-bedroom cottage is unrecognisable from its former incarnation as the farm's dairy. 

Inside, your hosts have made clever use of unfinished natural materials to provide a link to the landscape, with heated tiled floors, comfy seating and a wood burner adding to the cosy atmosphere. Vibrant prints and luxurious fabrics characterise the two double bedrooms, with one boasting a four-poster bed and the other finding space for a freestanding tub. Meanwhile, a bespoke bunk bed adds an element of fun to the third. 

Step out onto the west-facing deck for glorious sunsets, best enjoyed from the warmth of the wood-fired hot tub. Afterwards, dry off by the fire pit before cooking some locally sourced produce on the barbecue. Alternatively, grab a seat in the communal courtyard with friends old and new.

Away from the cottage, the village of Stithians is just a mile down the road or a half-hour scenic walk away via the network of bridleways and footpaths that crisscross the Cornish countryside. The popular Seven Stars Inn serves modern British classics and cold pints, while the corner shops and local artisan bakery ensure you can shop local for your whole stay.

Watersports enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to the reservoir, where you can sail, windsurf and paddleboard to your heart's content, with the traffic-free Mineral Tramways trail worth exploring by bike.

Finally, you can't visit this far-flung corner of the country and not head to the seaside. The cottage's location means that you're never more than seven miles from either the south or north coast. Standout surf spots include Porthowan, Gwithian, and Porthleven, all within a half-hour drive of your home.

The Hyde is special. Every inch of the home, right from the shell to the interiors, is masterfully crafted by hand. Tucked away in a dense wood, far from the world, it's a perfect retreat for a couple or a solo traveller. From the cosy Bohemian interiors to luxurious appliances (think Heston Blumenthal BBQ and Bose sound system), there's plenty to love. Step outside after a breakfast on the deck and you can spend a day swinging on the hammocks or lounging on the recliners amid birds. Revel each day in coastal walks across Porthtowan Beach until you reach the cliffs. Cycle around villages and all across this UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you're a surfer, the hosts own their own Surf shop and will be happy to help. You will be welcomed with a Cornish tea of home-made scones, clotted cream and jam. And, if in season, you may get a package of home-grown seasonal organic vegetables as a gift.

Hyde & Seek

The Helford River is Cornwall’s best-kept secret. The stunning scenery even inspired the author Daphne du Maurier to write her novel Frenchman’s Creek. There’s plenty to be explored in this area, from the tropical gardens of Trebah to the creeks and ocean; we’d recommend making the adventure by boat and luckily this cottage comes with its own all-tide mooring. This charming stone cottage offers delightful views of the river, quietly tucked away in a lush paradise but still close to the excellent Shipwrights Arms and ferry point. Inside the interior design blends seaside chic with rustic, farmhouse vibes. We love the ship paintings, sea-blue tones and wood finishings. This charming cottage still retains a lot of its original features, boasting a characterful stone hearth and wood-burning stove. The open-plan kitchen and living room feel particularly snug. Warm yourself beside the fire, play a card game or watch a movie.

Tucked away down a narrow country lane, this charming barn conversion offers a remote haven far removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Your hosts have paid close attention to each and every element within the home, leading to a final result that is nothing short of breathtaking. A dual aspect sunroom on the first floor is the main social space and where we imagine you'll spend most of your time. 

Being encased in glass allows guests to get in touch with nature come rain or shine, while the adjacent balcony is perfect for a sunny afternoon cuppa overlooked by the resident donkeys in the next-door field.

A well-equipped kitchen is situated towards the back of the room and is more than capable of doing justice to any delicious local produce that you happen to pick up on your travels.

Head downstairs to the ground floor and unearth a gorgeous king-size bedroom, complete with a luxurious en-suite that includes an elegant freestanding bath and a spacious walk-in shower. 

Despite occupying a secluded spot in the middle of the countryside, the home is actually very well placed to explore the best of this spectacular county. Surfing hotspots including Newquay, Perranporth and Gwithian are no more than half an hour's drive. At the same time, the picturesque coastal town of St Ives offers fantastic food and high culture (courtesy of Tate St Ives), twenty-six miles away.

Brimming with original artwork and oozing charm, this coastal cottage is a real knock-out. We love every inch, from the inviting living space to the sumptuous bedroom. It's snug, but that's what makes it so cosy, and for a small space, it sure is packed with personal touches. Egyptian cotton sheets, electric fireplace, fluffy bathrobes, beach essentials, a welcome basket overflowing with breakfast items – your host has all the little details taken care of. As much as we adore the lovely kitchen, our favourite spot has to be the rustic courtyard. Dotted with olive trees and surrounded by leafy potted plants, it's the perfect place for morning coffees, alfresco dinners and evening tipples as the sun goes down. As far as locations go, this home is close to everything – it's only a ten-minute walk to Gyllyngvase Beach and five minutes to the restaurants, shops and pubs along the waterfront. While there's private parking on-site, you won't need the car for much. Don your comfiest shoes and set off on foot instead, exploring Falmouth's coastal walks, art galleries and cafes with ease.

The Sea In Bloom

Located just a short walk from Mylor’s beautiful marina sits a cottage that is just as picturesque as its surroundings. Scallop Cottage can sleep eight guests and even welcomes up to two dogs, making it a fantastic choice for a friendly family or a bunch of friends keen on escaping on a coastal holiday. Enjoy sweeping views through the large picture windows in the living room, prepare delicious meals in the country kitchen, or bask in the sunshine of your private backyard as you take in the boats of the marina bobbing with the tide of the waves. Weather permitting, we encourage you to take your meals alfresco or make your way down to the marina for a wonderful meal out. There are also plenty of charming cafes and bars that are sure to keep you entertained for the duration of your stay.

Believed to have been constructed for the Captain of the Mines, this house in the heart of St Agnes is a rarity. With a thriving arts and crafts scene on your doorstep and Trevaunance Cove an eighteen-minute walk away, there’s plenty to do here. While outside, the garden catches the evening sun and features two terraces for alfresco refreshments.

As environmentally sympathetic as it is stylish, this quiet hideaway close to the North Cornish coast is a perfect blend of pared-back simplicity and modern comfort. A picture of immaculate design, it's a cabin-style home made from natural materials (timber framing and bee-friendly bricks) that give way to an interior decorated in neutral shades of cream, light wood and olive green. Start your day with breakfast in the fresh sea air, before strolling down to the idyllic Gwithian Beach, discovering the spectacular sand dune formations and wild Nature Reserve backed onto the shore. Just a seventeen-minute drive from St Ives and nine to the National Trust's Godrevy Beach, there's plenty to do and see nearby, with a peaceful location just a five-minte drive from the town of Hayle.

Step-Free Access

Cornwall erupts into life like a dormant volcano during the glistening summer months, yet the rugged charm is a beautiful sight all-year-round. Luckily, this cosy retreat is expertly placed for winter retreats and summer sauntering. 

When the sun shines on the striking shoreline, make sure to head to the gorgeous beaches that shape the Cornish coast. Falmouth is just a short drive away, whilst the more famed beach towns are under an hour away. If you want to keep things local, Truro is fourteen minutes away and provides a hint of urban life in the sprawling county.

Of course, you can always have lazy days in the village to immerse yourself in the Cornish lifestyle. Mosey through the cobbled streets and stop off for a glass of cider and a pasty in the traditional pub. For an even more intimate experience, dine alfresco on the open-air table back at the cottage.

If you're visiting during the colder months, the restful abode is the perfect place to snuggle up in the evening. Underfloor heating, a fireplace and deluxe bathtub provide blissful comfort for cosy nights in. When you're fully relaxed, curl up on the sofa with a film in the background for evening entertainment.

In the centre of charming Truro, this apartment feels like a cosy ode to wool. Plush knitted throws adorn the sofa in the open-plan living room, and the bed is lined with fluffy sheepskin. Herringbone floor completes a classic look, and we love the seat in the big Georgian window (furnished with a sheepskin throw, of course) overlooking the street for a spot of people-watching. The kitchen has everything you need to cook full meals at home – perhaps courtesy of the fresh fish landed every day in the nearby harbour towns. And, if you want to dine outside, there’s a shared courtyard dappled with fairylights for the occasion.

Location-wise, you’re in the heart of town and can reach all of Truro easily on foot. Quaint cafés serving scones (jam first, of course) and cream teas, fresh seafood restaurants and plenty of shops await. Getting out to explore the area, you’ll find the Roseland Heritage Coast AONB a ten-minute drive for clifftop coastal walks, and the buzzing beach of Falmouth is a twenty-minute drive.

We’re not one for hyperbole, but the views from the terrace of this home really are spectacular. Not only do you have the ocean stretching out as far as the eye can see, but the beautiful bay of Praa Sands also curves down below, and the patchwork fields of south Cornwall lie in the distance. Admire the view from the perfectly placed hot tub, drink a morning coffee on the glass-fronted balcony, or cook a meal on the barbecue to enjoy overlooking the water. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room means that you can take in the scene even on cold days – when you may want to fire up the woodburner for a cosy evening in. Aside from walking, surfing and sunbathing on Praa Sands, you’ll also want to explore the nearby village and go hiking along the South West Coast Path, which is easy to reach from this home.
