The Peak District can be reached in just over twenty minutes on foot, while landmarks such as Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House can both be reached in a similar amount of time in the car.

This charming apartment is tucked away in the heart of the Peak District. It’s the perfect base for a couple looking to spend a few romantic days away in the countryside. Beautiful Bakewell is a fourteen-minute drive, and Chatsworth House, with its rich history and stunning gardens, is eighteen minutes away. 

This is a home with comfort at its heart. After days spent touring historic houses and meandering around scenic villages, it’s a delight to return to. You might spend the morning hiking in the countryside surrounding the farm, and then head back here to curl up with a good book. The courtyard garden is a lovely spot for an alfresco lunch, and boasts gorgeous views. 

In the evening, stroll thirteen minutes to the local pub for a pint by the roaring fire. You can dine there or back at the apartment, enjoying the cosy open-plan living and dining space. Later on, sink into the oh-so-comfortable bed – you’re guaranteed a peaceful night’s sleep here. 


Peaky Blinder

After looking around this home, you probably wouldn't guess that the property has been standing for more than a quarter of a millennium, but that's a testament to the care and attention that has gone into the renovation.

Sitting deep within the Peak District, you're certainly not short of walking routes in the local area, plus a couple of historic attractions — Magpie Mine is only a ten-minute walk, for instance. And what would a rural getaway be without a charming pub? You'll probably be happy to hear that the closest one is only eight minutes away on foot.

Secret doors and treasures galore, this Grade II listed home in a quiet part of Long Bennington village is steeped in history and culture. A visual feast – you’ll find carved furniture from Africa, a Rajasthani chest, a coffee table from China, and red and gold chairs from Spain. It’s no wonder your hosts are both artists who love to travel. We could spend hours here just admiring the precious antiques around the home – including an intricately carved screen brought back by explorer Sir Francis Younghusband after he led the British Army into Tibet. More is more here with curiosities in every corner, but there’s plenty of space to relax too. Unwind in the foliage-filled conservatory, lie on the sofa in the living room where a traditional Persian rug pops against a terracotta floor, or take a walk amidst the daffodils in the garden outside. If you can ever peel yourself away from this magical gem, Newark historic market town – known for its indie shops, antiques and old buildings – is only a fifteen-minute drive from your door. One thing’s for sure, this spot will satisfy the soul. 

A Moving Feast

Quintessential English living meets countryside tranquility in this beautiful stone cottage. Nestled in the quiet village of Foolow in Derbyshire, you'll feel at one with nature from being surrounded by miles of green fields. Whether you want to go out and wander around them, play games with the family, or just stay at home admiring the scenery from afar, you're sure to enjoy the surroundings either way. The garden of this home is particularly special. The outside seating area is tailor-made for enjoying an evening tipple. Why not sample the local Lindway Brook champagne and toast to making wonderful memories? When it's warm and sunny, relax in the pretty garden or unwind inside surrounded by character features such as the massive inglenook fireplace with a log burner and sash windows. We can imagine lots of convivial meals in the elegant dining room, for sure.

Staying on the topic of food, this cottage is centrally located in this gem of the Peak District. The town is famous for its Bakewell pudding, but that's not all there is to attract foodies – there's an array of award-winning restaurants and pubs too. Add to that a fantastic Monday market, as well as a good selection of shops and a great golf course, and you have the recipe for plenty of fun times. For walkers, Bakewell Station (The Monsal Trail) is a five-minute walk away, and it's been a popular trail since the Midland Railway line was closed in 1968. Other attractions include Dovedale, one of the most stunning valleys in England, as well as the caves at Castleton, the spa town of Buxton and Chatsworth House.
