Lovingly renovated and carefully restored, Clare and Paul have turned this barn into a contemporary but warm home. Expect bold florals in the main bedroom, inviting sink-in sofas in the living space and a fully-equipped kitchenette for cooked breakfasts on slow-start mornings.

One side of the barn overlooks rolling hills and patchwork fields, so you can watch the sheep grazing while you relax with a mug of tea on the royal blue loveseat. Then there’s the outside space, which boasts a hot tub for soothing tired muscles after long hikes through the Peaks and a seating area for cream tea in the sunshine.

If country walks are on the agenda, there are a number of public footpaths by your front door and the serene Combs Reservoir is a mere seven-minute walk away. If you’re keen to explore a little further afield, the charming spa town of Buxton is reached in fifteen minutes by car. And when the day draws to a close, sip a gin and tonic in a nearby pub before heading back to your pad to watch a purple dusk fall over the countryside.

Where Skylarks Sing

Located in the heart of the historic spa town of Buxton, this carefully renovated apartment set within a Grade II Victorian building provides a luxurious starting point for your explorations of this beautiful part of the country. The building itself was once the local Post Office, and subtle clues as to its past give the apartment character and a sense of history. 

Feel right at home within its warm, welcoming, and distinctly cosy, colourful interior – be it by enjoying a homecooked meal at the inviting dining table or lounging in the comfortable living area and getting stuck into the range of entertainment options. Of course, there's always that lovely terrace area on which to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or while away a couple of sunny afternoon hours with a good book or great company.

The Old Post Office Pad

This semi-detached cottage is nestled in the beautiful grounds of the Chatsworth Estate. Accessed by a single-track road (not suitable for low cars), you’ll be welcomed by cosy rooms and a wonderful sense of seclusion. There is also a wood-burning stove, a private rear garden and flexible sleeping arrangements – the zip-and-link bed can be arranged as a double or two single beds on request. Guests can enjoy multi-entrance tickets to the House and Gardens, as well as access to the estate gym, tennis court and swimming pool for an additional fee. 

Beyond the Garden

Built in 1809 and renovated in 2020, grade II-listed King Of The Vale brings together old and new for a wonderful experience in the Peak District. The striking Georgian cottage features beamed ceilings, traditional shutters, sash windows, wood-burning stoves and an impressive garden, all while providing guests with twenty-first-century comforts and design. Prepare wonderful meals in the fully equipped kitchen, then enjoy your creations al fresco or in the modern dining room. With four bedrooms, up to eight guests are welcome to enjoy the home's cosy interiors and excellent position in the charming village of Rowsley. From here, it's easy to visit all corners of the famous Peak District.

King Of The Vale

We're pretty sure that you won't find many cottages cuter than this. Built at the backend of the eighteenth century, this traditional weaver's house is Grade-II listed and you can see why. Inside, the wooden ceiling beams, exposed brickwork and stable door are full of rustic charm, while a log-burning fire and antique furnishings add an extra level of cosiness. To the side of the home, there's a patio area complete with alfresco seating where you can enjoy a coffee and the surrounding tranquillity of West Yorkshire. Fans of Last of the Summer Wine — one of the longest-running sitcoms in the world — will love walking around the local town of Holmfirth where it was filmed. The Peak District is only a ten-minute drive away too if you're in the mood for a long ramble.

Summer Wine

Welcoming guests in style, this converted barn in West Yorkshire boasts a large living area with ample room to socialise and sprawl out. In keeping with its rustic charm, it features plenty of exposed stone, wooden beams and high vaulted ceilings, while modern touches such as a striking bespoke staircase, innovative handmade lighting and a sleek island kitchen have been installed with luxury and comfort in mind. Enjoy meals together at the long table in the open dining area, admiring scenic views of the Yorkshire countryside through vast picture windows. Venture off into the surrounding area and experience the picturesque views first hand, discovering the tranquil beauty of the woodlands. When you're in the mood for exploring further, take a short drive to the quaint village of Ripponden for a hearty pub meal in one of the charming eateries and an enticing taste of the slow life.

Tell a Tale

Walking into this beautiful cottage, you’d probably not be able to tell that it is over three-hundred-years old, or that it has a fair amount of experience as a coaching inn. Save for the exposed beams, brickwork, and basic structure, this home’s undergone a complete makeover that’s turned it into a very hospitable, little home. We, of course, love historic touches and found that the ones present here add a bucketload of charm to this home, and the choice of furnishings only further serves to make this space comfortable and inviting. Sink into the plush velvet sofa – by the way, we think the blue around the house brings a brilliant luxe contrast to the space – with the fire crackling at your feet as you catch up on your reading. 

Reading that can also be done outside when the weather is just right. Head out with a cup of coffee and embrace the peace and quiet, enjoying the view of the cathedral when you’ve put your book down for a quick break. 

Back inside, the kitchen – which features a beautiful aga cooker – connects to a dining room by the way of a conservatory, which makes even cooking a social affair as some guests can get breakfast ready whilst others bask in the light streaming in from up above. 

As if this home could get much better, it’s also very close to the famous Peak District National Park and a day out there, admiring the lakes and moors as you hike the round hills, is an absolute must. When you return too tired to cook, head to the local pub or chip shop for a quintessentially British end to your day.

Tideswell Cottage

This historic home in the heart of the Derbyshire spa town of Buxton is perfect for a couple of couples seeking to explore the Peak District. Recently renovated, this grade II listed Victorian property built in the mid-1800s boasts both character, comfort and style. 

This sensational second-floor home and former Post Office features a cosy all-purpose kitchen cum dining and living room as well as two en-suite bedrooms. You’ll love taking your morning coffee at the breakfast bar, whipping up your signature dishes in the contemporary kitchen – think mint green walls, wooden floors, cream coloured cabinetry and low hanging lights – before dining together at the wooden table. Surrounded by the wild natural beauty of the Peak District National Park, this idyllic cottage is the perfect getaway to relax and explore this majestic part of the English countryside. Located just outside the village of Birchover (a twenty-minute drive from Matlock), you’ll have all the peace and quiet you need to truly rest and unwind. Dating back to the 1700s, the cottage was originally built as a two-storey barn for the main house which your host Rachael’s parents bought as a ruin in the 1960s. Recently restored, you can tell how much love and care has been put into this stunning space that blends beautiful modern comforts with characterful original details to create an unforgettable home. From the underfloor heating to the wood-burning stove, romantic roll-top tub and sweeping views of the Peak District fields and valleys, there’s a storybook warmth and cosiness here that instantly makes you feel welcome. With two outdoor terraces, you can enjoy your breakfast alfresco while the horses roam around you, or fire up the barbecue for a dinner under the stars. Factor in the DVDs, books and board games on hand and there’s plenty to keep you entertained on rainy days – but with so much nature to explore, we recommend grabbing your wellies and venturing out into the great outdoors. Walk around your home to discover the secret walking trails through the woods and ask your host to show you the megalithic Rocking Stone nearby. Visit Robin Hood’s Stride (eleven minutes by car or an hour’s walk), take a dip in the swimming hole at Youlgreave (an eight-minute drive) and spend an afternoon at stately Chatsworth House, fifteen minutes away by car.

If you're looking for a break in beautiful Derbyshire, this Grade II Listed 17th-century cottage in the market town of Bakewell hits the spot. It's been lovingly converted by your hosts into a stylish home for a family or two couples. 

When it's warm and sunny, relax in the pretty garden or unwind inside surrounded by character features such as the massive inglenook fireplace with a log burner and sash windows. We can imagine lots of convivial meals in the elegant dining room, for sure.

Staying on the topic of food, this cottage is centrally located in this gem of the Peak District. The town is famous for its Bakewell pudding, but that's not all there is to attract foodies – there's an array of award-winning restaurants and pubs too. Add to that a fantastic Monday market, as well as a good selection of shops and a great golf course, and you have the recipe for plenty of fun times. For walkers, Bakewell Station (The Monsal Trail) is a five-minute walk away, and it's been a popular trail since the Midland Railway line was closed in 1968. Other attractions include Dovedale, one of the most stunning valleys in England, as well as the caves at Castleton, the spa town of Buxton and Chatsworth House.



Sundew Cottage

This home is perfect for solo travellers or couples seeking a quiet base outside the Shrewsbury town centre. With a south-facing garden and space for alfresco dining, this home is a welcoming spot to unwind after a day strolling around The Quarry Park. Fit for a romantic country break, this classic stone cottage sits in the rolling hills near Huddersfield. A ten-minute drive sees you in the confines of the Peak District – the UK’s oldest National Park – where walking trails weave across the landscape atop hills and past waterfalls. Ten minutes in the other direction, you’ll find the quaint town of Holmfirth to stock up on groceries and visit the local pubs and cafés. There’s a local pub and bakery a fifteen-minute stroll into the hamlet of Hepworth too.

After a day trekking in the Peaks, this is the perfect spot to put your feet up. Unlace your hiking boots and warm your toes by the wood-burning stove in the living room. ‘Cosy’ is the watchword here, with old wooden gables on display and thick stone walls keeping things warm once the stove gets going. There’s a little selection of holiday reads for evenings by the fire and a full kitchen for meals at home. In the sunny summer months, make use of the patio, furnished with a bistro table for two. From here, the only sound is the odd bleet from sheep in the field next door.
