This chic apartment not only boasts tranquil views of the English Channel, but it’s also within 250 metres of Torquay Beach. Inside, the place is fresh and funky – we loved the pastel pink furnishings and bold accent walls. After a restful sleep in the comfortable beds, rustle up a full English in the sleek kitchen or pick up some freshly baked pastries from the coffee shop opposite your building. Soak up the warm sunshine on the terrace before slipping on your sandals and strolling along the South West Coast Path. 

When lunchtime rolls around, head into the heart of Torquay, around a ten-minute walk away, to sample the independent eateries. If you fancy swapping the seaside for the country, Dartmoor National Park is less than an hour’s drive from your building. 

Ambient Works

This restored barn makes the perfect setting for a refreshing rural escape. Surrounded by the beautiful Devon countryside, you’ll find easy access to walking trails as well as the picturesque village of Dittisham – just a mile away. And while days can be spent exploring, by night you’ll love returning home to relax by the wood-burning fire. Pets are welcome to join you during your stay, plus there is a large private garden with outdoor seating – perfect for summer evening drinks. 

Trinity Barn

You'll realise why this one's so special when you make your way up the private driveway and approach this modern home set on a hillside overlooking the Teign River. With five bedrooms, all with stunning views of the ever-changing landscape, and one which is best suited for children, this is the perfect home for an extended family or a group of friends with children, looking to spend a few relaxing days on the Devonshire coast.  While you're here, let the kids run around and play in the huge, landscaped garden, while the adults enjoy a drink on the terrace or a soak in the hot tub. If you ask us, that sounds like a pretty comforting holiday for the entire family.

Settle into this charming cottage in South Devon, one of five luxury stone cottages nestled in the rural landscape on the outskirts of the English Riviera. If you're looking for somewhere to recharge your battery from the everyday hustle and bustle of modern life, you've come to the right place. Enjoy your morning coffee in the outdoor seating area in the fresh area as you plan how to fill your day, or gather in the open-plan living area in the evening for a board game night or a movie on the TV, or curl up on the couch and enjoy a good book from the provided collection on the shelf. When it comes to enjoying some good food, who up something to delight everyone in the well-equipped kitchen, just as cosy as the rest of the home, or head out into Marldon or Paignton where you can find some wonderful restaurants and discover your new favourite dish.

Thanks to the location of this home, you'll be in close proximity to all the necessities you might need during your stay. Just a short drive away you'll reach Paignton, where you'll be able to enjoy a plethora of amenities including a gorgeous beach where you can stroll along the coast, or get some sunbathing in while the kids play in the sand. You'll also be within easy reach of Dartmoor National Park – this home lends itself perfectly to exploring the surrounding area.

Coast meets country in this Dittisham home. Throw open the generous patio doors to indulge in indoor-outdoor living at its finest – and believe us when we say, this is a garden you’ll never tire of. Perfect for families, little ones will love to explore this haven for wildlife – just bear in mind that there’s an unfenced pond and stream here, so children and dogs will need to be supervised when enjoying the outdoor space. Is the coast calling your name? It’s a mere twenty-minute drive to Blackpool Sands. 

Nature's Oasis

This is one for those who demand a quintessential English retreat from their country escape. A tranquil manor house located in the town of Ashburton, it's got Dartmoor’s wild landscapes right on the doorstep and the Devon coast just half an hour away. Original wooden ceiling beams and stone walls provide a historic backdrop to activities, whether that’s dining together at the large rustic table or relaxing in the free-standing bathtubs. Hosts offer a hotel service with breakfast, cleaning, welcome drinks and hamper. The expansive grounds have a private swimming pool, crystal lake and a garden allotment, making it the perfect setting for weddings and parties, or even just coming together with loved ones for a well-deserved getaway.


Cream Tea

For a quintessential Devon break, it doesn't get much better than this elegant Victorian farmstead. Built by Lord Hamberdon's estate in 1833, this country house commands unbroken views to Haytor Rocks some three miles away. Your hosts have lovingly restored this home over the years, being careful to maintain its original features. As a result, it's got character in spades. The kitchen strikes just the right balance between rustic charm and modern convenience, while the adjacent breakfast room makes it a lovely space for a slow start to the day, and direct garden access comes into its own on sunny mornings. Elsewhere on the ground floor, there's a dining room that's perfect for gathering together as a group and a cosy living room for that post-lunch nap by the fire. Head upstairs, and you'll find two master bedrooms, both with en-suites and stunning views south across the National Park, with a further two bedrooms on the same floor. Outside, the large walled garden enjoys Dartmoor views as far as the eye can see. There's a gorgeous covered seating area that's perfect for eating outdoors, while the bubbling hot tub is just the cherry on top. Far from any light pollution, we can't think of anything better than enjoying a post-dog walk soak as the stars emerge. There's also croquet and swing ball to keep the kids busy. Enjoy excellent walking, cycling, and horse riding directly from your front door. There are also a variety of fantastic local pubs to choose from.

Draw the Dreamers

Upon the English Riviera, staying in the warm climate of the sophisticated town of Torquay feels like the equivalent of Cannes. Hop off a yacht at Torquay Marina and take an eighteen-minute stroll to this fabulous apartment, fit for any VIP. Upon arrival, your host will have a bottle of wine waiting for you. Before you even start exploring this modern flat, pour yourself a glass and say cheers to the start of the holiday. Do you like a home with a view? Because this one offers several. From its many large windows, you can spot the bay, beaches, harbours, the marina, and of course the big blue sea itself. On a sunny day, we recommend taking a bowl of olives and a chilled prosecco out to the private balcony – pop up the parasol if it gets too hot. Indoors, pristine white and cream interiors make the space feel fresh, with a mint-green sofa which you can sink into after a long day of beachside activities. South Devon might feel distinctly Mediterranean, but you’ll certainly enjoy ending the day with a refreshing cup of Earl Grey.

Pollock Palms

Surrounded by 64 acres of vineyards, orchards and farmland, this luxurious barn conversion puts you between the coastal beauty of the South Devon AONB and Dartmoor National Park. A fifteen-minute drive sees you at the Southwest Coast Path to discover secluded bays and white cliffs, or make the twenty-minute drive to Bantham Beach for a day on the soft sand of the classic British seaside. 

Though if you want to stay closer to home, you’ll find plenty of activities right on the estate. Gin and wine tastings are on offer and walking the grounds you’ll come face to face with white-faced Dartmoor sheep and red Devon cattle. Should the weather turn, you’ve got a private indoor swimming pool and a dedicated cinema room with plush red theatre chairs and a big screen to keep you entertained. But sunny days can be spent on the patios, dining, reclining and unwinding in front of the rolling Devonshire scenery. 

Inside, wood-burning stoves and log fires keep things feeling cosy in the open dining and living room. The gabled beams of the barn are still on show, but the sleek kitchen and furnishings are all modern. It feels like a place for family or friends to gather after long walks in the countryside, and appreciate the peace and quiet. 

Grapes & Beams

This seventeeth–century property overlooks the sparkling blue waters of the seaside town, Brixham. Situated next to the charming harbour, you're only a short stroll away from the waterside. Head up the three-tiered garden to admire the view from atop. You'll be greeted with clear skies, the hum of the waters, and the sounds of the harbour. 

The large windows throughout the home light up the space as you play on the vintage arcade table that offers the classical Space Invaders and Pacman. Whoever gets to sleep in the Captain's Cabin bedroom gets a gorgeous view of the surrounding harbour right from the comfort of their own bed – imagine waking up next to that blissful sight every morning.

The beautiful yet convenient location makes this the perfect place to reside on a family getaway to a seaside town. There's a fantastic selection of eateries by the harbour front as well as a cosy pub that serves delicious local produce. Wander the streets of Brixham to discover a ton of local hidden gems and treat yourself to sugary sweet treats and savory snacks.

Captain Curious

We love the flairs of modernity and fun at this Victorian townhouse, placed just a ten-minute stroll from Dartmouth's harbour edge.

Spread out over three floors and glowing from top-to-toe in crisp white, this family retreat is a joy to return home to. Vintage memorabilia posters and zesty pops of colour perk the space up a treat, while period features and antique pieces bring all the character and charm.

Over in the first of two living rooms, butter-soft sofas placed beside the fire are more than inviting. As is the Gatsby-esque 1920's mini bar in the grown-up feel sitting room next door – playfully known as the Cocktail Room by the owners. And the shaker-style kitchen makes cooking and entertaining a joy – especially with it's handy opening out to the sitting room so that you can keep an eye on the rest of your troops.

When it's time for some coastal adventures, take a stroll down the hill towards Dartmouth's historic maritime centre (five-minute walk – a little longer when you're coming back up!), stopping at its smart shops, galleries, and boutique bistros along the way. Or for a dose of traditional seaside nostalgia, grab your nets and buckets for crabbing on the embankment before fish and chips down at the harbour's quayside – the views of the bobbing boats are delightful. And when the beach finally calls, hop in the car and you'll be on the glorious sheltered bay of Blackpool Sands in five minutes flat.
