We enter via the games room and utility area on the ground floor, where you'll find a pool table and – as odd as it may sound – a dog shower. Perfect for washing the sand from your furry friend, it's a unique feature we think could make all the difference to your stay. There's a ground floor bedroom and bathroom – perfect if some guests prefer a little more privacy – and stairs lead up to the large kitchen and impressive living room. Here you can enjoy panoramic views of the coastline and access both a small balcony and a side terrace with an outdoor dining table. It also happens to house a private hot tub with sea views.

The two remaining bedrooms and bathrooms are on the top floor and it's here you'll find our favourite room. The main bedroom is simply stunning, with a private balcony and a large en-suite bathroom with a glass wall so that, from the raised bathtub, you can not only see the TV but also out through the patio doors to the sea.

You can enjoy the amenities of the farm, too, including a tennis court, an orchard with a hammock, basketball hoop, woodland, and a private shingle beach right on the river – there are forty acres to explore in total. There's certainly plenty to keep you occupied here –  your hosts are Cornwall Wildlife Trust Members, which affords you access to wildlife education sessions for children, including mini-beast safaris, rock pooling events, and bird box making. You can also book a foraging workshop, stand-up paddleboarding, wine tasting, spa treatments, afternoon teas, suppers and more.

In a quiet village in Devon, this cottage is all about kicking back and escaping to the countryside. There’s a cosy village pub within easy walking distance and the neighbouring village of Buckland Abbey is home to a beautiful, centuries-old abbey to explore. For a day in the buzzing coastal city of Plymouth, it’s just a half-hour drive.

The cottage was fully renovated in 2018, keeping that countryside idyll feel throughout. We love the outside space – the babbling stream running through the garden provides a peaceful soundtrack and a private hot tub for a soothing soak at the end of the day. There’s seating for drinks and dining on the patio and a pretty little summer house should the weather turn.

Inside, the black wood beams against the white ceiling are striking and homely at the same time. Slate floors and exposed stonework create an 18th-century cottage feel and there’s a traditional cast-iron wood-burner in the centre of the living room. Bedrooms are cosy yet sunny, with French doors letting the sunlight stream in. Plus, there’s a free-standing tub in the main bathroom which begs for a long soak with a glass of something bubbly.

Once upon a time, this waterfront home was a coastguard's cottage. Since then it has since been completely renovated to create a fantastic holiday home for up to four guests, plus a furry friend. 

On chilly evenings, you can throw a log on the fire and curl up with a board game or a good book. The bright and airy dining space is perfect for long, lavish dinners cooked using fresh ingredients from the verdant Cornish countryside. Best of all, there's plenty of outside space to enjoy when the sun is shining. Sip a tipple on the patio, then fire up the barbeque for an alfresco feast with a sea view. And, there's no better way to round off your day than with a long, luxurious soak in the outdoor hot tub – bliss. 

You only need to take a few steps down to arrive at the waterfront, where you can dip your toes in the sea or go paddleboarding. If you prefer a long, sandy beach, then Tregantle Beach is only a short drive away. And, when you fancy a day trip, head into Plymouth to learn about the port city's rich maritime history.

This cottage welcomes all the family, including the four-legged members. Tucked away in the South Devon countryside, it's around 1.5 miles from the South West Coast Path and a five-minute drive (or a forty-five-minute walk if you’re feeling up to a hike) from Mothecombe Beach. You’ll enjoy sea views from the third bedroom and friendly table football tournaments if the weather takes a turn. Best of all, there’s a hot tub on the patio for when you’d like to seriously relax. 


Sea Campion Cottage

There’s nothing but you and the sea at this stunning cabin in its own secluded Devon bay. Ok, so there’s a little more to this place than a private beach – like a wood-fired hot tub on the deck and a fire pit for star-speckled nights away from the city. It may be a cosy, compact cabin, but there’s a full kitchen inside and hanging hammock chairs are perfectly positioned to gaze at the sea view. Leave your worries (and your car and your phone signal) at the clifftop before making the fifteen-minute walk along a steep, narrow trail that keeps this home secluded and secret.

You’ll find this timber-clad, eco-friendly home on Devon’s South Hams coastline, a forty-eight-minute drive from Plymouth and a two-minute walk from Challaborough Bay Beach. A fifteen-minute drive sees you at the Southwest Coast Path to discover secluded bays and white cliffs, or make the twenty-minute drive to Bantham Beach for a day on the soft sand of the classic British seaside.
