Just a few miles from the famous Saunton Sands, this lovely home has a bubbling hot tub, a sunny veranda and huge floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the interior with light. One of three homes on the same site, it’s the ideal base for exploring the spectacular Devonshire coast. Saunton Sands is one of Devon’s most beautiful beaches, with three miles of golden sand, and azure water. It’s as popular with surfers as families, but with such a vast stretch of beach, rarely feels crowded. The popular village of Braunton is also close by, with its many surf shops, restaurants and cafes. Enjoy a lazy lie in before heading to the beach to swim, surf and explore Braunton Burrows’ immense sand dunes. Then come back for a relaxing dunk in the hot tub and watch the sun go down on the deck with a glass of something delicious. The host welcomes pets (and Saunton Sands is dog-friendly year-round), so if you’ve got a furry friend, it’s the dream holiday.

It’s hard to imagine that this beautifully curated home was once a barn, but looking at its tall beamed ceilings and apex ceiling, you’ll soon be able to find traces of its history alongside its stylish decor. 

Step into the ground floor entrance hall and into the large farmhouse kitchen – the ideal spot to begin mornings with a hearty breakfast. We love the tiled floors and blue cabinetry here – not to mention the Butler’s sink – as well as the glossy marble countertops that are sure to inspire even the most reluctant of home cooks. On this same floor you’ll find the bedroom, making a bold statement with its red-painted beams, wood-panelled walls and large, comfy bed inviting a peaceful night’s sleep, while the bathroom – on the ground floor too – beckons relaxing wake-ups with its rainfall shower.

Upstairs, the living room is a bright, enticing space with its scarlet sofa and chairs, as well as its large glass doors leading out onto a private enclosed patio. Whether you’re enjoying alfresco meals here or indulging in a celebratory sundowner, this is the ideal spot to catch some rays and luxuriate in your natural surroundings with its views of the neighbouring farmland. 

Outside of your home, you’ll find a selection of restaurants, bars and shops within half a mile of your home, while Croyde Beach – known for its surfing – is a four-minute drive or just over twenty minutes away on foot.


Red Apple Barn

A former market garden storehouse, this rural retreat invites you to a coastal village in the North Devon countryside. Staying in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty means that you'll be surrounded by storybook streams, woodlands, and walking trails.

Inside this characterful home, there's a topsy-turvy layout with the pink-beamed bedroom downstairs. Wrapped in wood panelling, this cosy place is the perfect spot to have a cheeky lie-in. Fry up a full English breakfast in your bright kitchen, which is well-stocked and finished with granite countertops.

Why not cycle down to Croyde Bay, where you can join the surfers? Or, drive over to Baggy Point with your dog, and see the nesting seabirds on this dramatic cliffside. After popping into a country pub on your way back, you'll want to climb this wooden staircase into the living room.

Relax in a modern armchair and read your favourite book beneath the vaulted ceilings – all before enjoying a late-night barbecue on your private patio, or taking a moonlit picnic out onto the hills.

Garnering Flowers

Make the most of the outdoor space at this home by enjoying alfresco meals on the decking area and treating yourself to indulgent dips in the hot tub. This pretty lodge is surrounded by fields and farmland, making it an excellent location from which to explore the Devon countryside. There are public footpaths and bridleways within walking distance, and many picturesque trails to follow within the surrounding area. The North Devon coast is also just over two miles away, meaning you can hop in a car to reach the surfing hub of Saunton Sands, the pretty dunes of Croyde Beach and the colourful beach huts of Woolacombe. And, when you come back home after your adventures, there's no better place to curl up than in the wood-panelled living room – we recommend savouring some Devon scones with cream and jam as you do. 

Eggshell

A ten-minute drive from the pristine shores of Devon’s Woolacombe Beach, this modern lodge is an isolated, minimalist abode that's perfect for serenity-seekers. While you can reach the town of Georgeham by taking a seven-minute stroll through the lush countryside, the home truly does feel like a world away. With spectacular green views in every direction, courtesy of the panoramic windows and floor-to-ceiling glass doors, enjoy the great outdoors even when you’re cosy inside the home. Find woven dining chairs, a plush sofa, and a cushioned headboard against your bed for when you’re relaxing indoors, as well as a bath in the en-suite for a late-night soak. But it’s the outdoor offering which we found really impressive. As well as a large, enclosed garden where you can let your pooch run wild, there are even more activities to enjoy after dusk falls on your private porch. Switch on the fairy lights for a magical evening on the soft sofa under the covered decking, then slink into the hot tub with a glass of champagne as the stars come out. This setting is simply ideal for gazing up at the night skies.

A View To Remember

This luxurious holiday home is just a seven-minute walk to the village of Georgeham, where you can enjoy a pint of ale in a traditional pub. But in this bright and beautiful lodge, rural life meets modern sensibilities. As soon as you arrive, passing through rolling green fields and grazing sheep, the first thing you’ll notice is the spectacular outdoor space. Framing your gorgeous blue wooden home is a lush lawn, a pale wood decking with outdoor seating, and our favourite feature – a traditional, wooden outdoor hot tub. But before you jump in to start soaking the night away, it’s also worth exploring the indoors. With floor-to-ceiling windows and glass sliding doors, this home really allows you to bring the outside in. Plush velvet chairs and a cushy sofa bring a softness to the otherwise minimalist living space – a perfect setting for a warm Earl Grey after a long day on the windswept beaches of Devon. While these dramatic coastlines are of course a major attraction of staying in this area, you can also find some of the county’s best dog-friendly beaches, such as Woolacombe Beach, just ten minutes away. Perfect for you and the pup.

Everyday Luxuries

Located only a short twenty-minute walk from Devon's beautiful Staunton Sands beach and tucked away on a quiet countryside road, The Great Honeysuckle is the perfect place for a discerning couple to kick back and relax for a few days. Aside from the beach, the area is great for long walks and birdwatching, and once you're done exploring, you can always return and hit the outdoor hot tub to unwind. Start your day with a lazy brunch prepared in the bright kitchenette, then enjoy a hot cup of coffee on the patio – the decked terrace area is surrounded by green countryside views, that we really love. If you feel like visiting a historical town, then head over to Barnstaple, under a fifteen-minute drive away, for a nice afternoon in the city centre. When – weary from wandering and ensuring you've picked up some local goods on your travels – knock up a hearty meal and get cosy on the sofa with a good book. The interior has a real classic summertime look, with its exposed wood, light blue tones and French doors. Through to the bedroom, you'll find a continuation of the main living space with tasteful artwork and a gingham throw adding to the charm of this home-sweet-home. 

The Great Honeysuckle

Perched on the outskirts of bustling Braunton, this bright apartment is perfectly placed for a romantic escape to Devon’s stunning north coast. With Saunton Sands just ten minutes away by car, there’s no shortage of gorgeous scenery to admire here. Set off for a relaxing walk by the Atlantic or settle into a beachside café and treat yourself and your fellow guest to a delicious meal for two.  

When you’ve had your fill of being out and about, head home to your cosy apartment, where you’ll find everything you need for a comfortable stay on England’s south coast. Don’t let this home’s ground-floor status fool you – hidden away in the heart of a valley, it offers gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside, which we highly recommend soaking in as you sip a glass of English fizz on the peaceful terrace. When it’s time to eat, rustle up a home-cooked meal in the kitchenette or put your grilling to the test on the charcoal barbecue before indulging in a delicious digestif beneath the stars. We don’t know about you, but we can’t think of anywhere we'd rather be.

Crean Tea Retreat

If you're ready to escape into nature's embrace, then this charming lodge nestled in the heart of Devon’s green countryside is an ideal choice for you. This minimalist affair, with lovely views in every direction, is a great refuge for a few days of rest and relaxation –  especially since it's equipped with a big hot tub outside.

When you're not soaking in it and admiring the scenery, the countryside paths will take you deeper into pristine nature where you can breathe in the healthy countryside air. When you've had your fill, return to your holiday escape for a nice cup of hot cocoa on the luxurious sofa and an evening of movies to be enjoyed on the big flat-screen TV. Fall sleep with ease and wake up refreshed and rested, with the country vistas helping you to welcome a new day. 

Even though there are lots of lovely places to eat in the neighbouring towns, you can just as easily opt for staying in and cooking for yourself — there's plenty of tasty local produce available in the village, and the well-equipped kitchen will make rustling up something delicious a breeze. 


Our Cup of Tea

All cosied up on a quiet country lane just a short amble from the quaint village centre, this wonderful little cottage welcomes all to sample British country life in all its glory. 

With its wonderful white–washed facade, aged windows and brown front door with shrubs to either side, from the outside, this home is a picture–perfect haven steeped in rural charm. A backdrop of sprawling, perfectly–manicured lawns and verdant trees make the setting all the more picturesque, meanwhile the lovely little garden area serves up the ideal spot to privately soak up the sparkling North Devonshire rays.

The outside of this home is enough to tug on our heartstrings, but as we meander our way from room to room, we can't help but become more enamoured with the place. Cute and cosy with a winning mixture of classic and contemporary touches, we love the fact that in spite of some of its more modern updates, the home has retained all of its classic charm. The natural wooden doors instantly add to that warm, welcoming appeal, meanwhile the addition of skylight windows invite the shimmering sunlight to stream its way inside.

Each and every nook and cranny tells its own unique story, but if you ask us, the real heart of this home is the living area. With a traditional log burner at its centre and leather sofa just waiting to be sunk into, we can already see ourselves curling up here as dusk settles with a large glass of red and some rich chocolate truffles – heaven!

Don't Stop Beaming

This light-filled penthouse on the shores of Saunton Sands is a spectacular home in North Devon. Just as suited to nature lovers as those seeking creature comforts, this crisp and modern apartment makes for a wonderful base.

A direct path leads from the property to the three-mile-long Saunton Sands, one of Devon’s most beloved beaches. Here you can swim or surf – the water is slightly calmer than nearby Croyde Bay, making it ideal for beginner or intermediate surfers. If you prefer to keep your feet dry, it’s a glorious part of the world for walking and horse riding – it’s at the heart of the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, after all. Braunton Burrows – a sand dune system and Biosphere reserve – is just a few minutes away from Saunton Sands. Home to a large number of rare plants and animals, it’s popular with wildlife enthusiasts. 

Back at the penthouse, take a soak in the roll-top tub then fire up the wood burner and get cosy. The views are captivating from every angle – we spent hours gazing out at the sea and sands – and sunset is an event in of itself. Curl up in a blanket on the balcony and drink in the views while tucking into a Devonshire cream tea. We’ll let you decide whether it’s the jam or cream first. 


A Penthouse on the Shore

With sweeping views of the Devonshire coast from a secluded vantage point, your stay at this converted barn will likely lodge in your memory. Modernised in 2020 to create a sleek and tranquil retreat for four, the unique home comes with a garden hot tub, wood-burning stove and luscious garden that blends into the surrounding countryside.

The interiors are rich with rustic features, from the exposed stonework in the living space to the A-frame beam ceilings. Contemporary touches, such as the full-height windows and Scandinavian-style furniture, complement rather than compete with the remnants of the original barn, while tasteful details like the slate grey flooring and country doors echo what the adjoining farmhouse might have looked like.

You're just a twelve-minute drive from Barnstaple here, and twenty minutes from North Devon's spectacular beaches. Wind your way through verdant farmland en route, and stop off at Braunton for some traditional British pub grub on your way home.
