The brainchild of a celebrated interior designer, this North Devon townhouse has got it all figured out. Located a couple of minutes’ drive from Croyde beach, where you’ll spend long days surfing and soaking up the salty sea breeze, the inside of the home is beautifully sophisticated, with subtle nautical nods—we loved the knot wallpaper and delicate fish shoal light shade. The bunks in the children’s room will be a hit with mini swashbucklers, while the pizza oven on the patio should keep big kids quiet for a while. You’ll find the pretty village of Croyde a five-minute amble down the road, offering a charming selection of tea rooms, ice cream parlours and thatched pubs. After a hearty roast dinner, retreat home to the outdoor hot tub before turning in for the night in those luxurious king-size beds.

Aye-Aye Captain

This luxurious holiday home is just a seven-minute walk to the village of Georgeham, where you can enjoy a pint of ale in a traditional pub. But in this bright and beautiful lodge, rural life meets modern sensibilities. As soon as you arrive, passing through rolling green fields and grazing sheep, the first thing you’ll notice is the spectacular outdoor space. Framing your gorgeous blue wooden home is a lush lawn, a pale wood decking with outdoor seating, and our favourite feature – a traditional, wooden outdoor hot tub. But before you jump in to start soaking the night away, it’s also worth exploring the indoors. With floor-to-ceiling windows and glass sliding doors, this home really allows you to bring the outside in. Plush velvet chairs and a cushy sofa bring a softness to the otherwise minimalist living space – a perfect setting for a warm Earl Grey after a long day on the windswept beaches of Devon. While these dramatic coastlines are of course a major attraction of staying in this area, you can also find some of the county’s best dog-friendly beaches, such as Woolacombe Beach, just ten minutes away. Perfect for you and the pup.

Everyday Luxuries

Located just a ten-minute walk from Croyde Beach, this bright apartment is a fantastic choice for a seaside getaway. Devon is a beautiful place to visit all year round, with the stunning landscapes taking centre stage. You have a glimpse of it from your own balcony, with sweeping views of rolling hills and a glimpse of the coast.

There is a lovely indoor-outdoor feel to this home, with patio doors folding in to open up the living space to the balcony. So, you don't have to miss out on that view whether you're preparing meals in the kitchen or gathering around the dining table for dinner. But the space lends itself to any occasion – draw those curtains closed, get a film up on the smart TV, and cosy up on the plush sofas for relaxed evenings in. 

Not only is this apartment is inviting and homely, but it's also conveniently located. Walk for just ten minutes and you'll be in the heart of Croyde, coming across its shops, pubs, cafes, and of course, the blue flag accredited beach. The beach is particularly popular with surfers, equally entertaining whether you're people-watching or getting out on the waves yourself. The sand dunes are also just a ten-minute walk away, but if you want a bit of greenery, explore the Northern Devon Area of Natural Beauty to get your fix.

Smiling Eyes

Waking up will be a breeze at this exclusive penthouse apartment, thanks to the stunning views across the rolling North Devon countryside and out to sea. Step out onto one of the many private balconies (there’s three) for a moment of quiet while taking in the rising sun. Then fire up the coffee machine and rustle up breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen before a day of adventures. And you won’t have far to go when it's time to hit the surf –⁠ Croyde Beach is just a five-minute stroll away. While away the days lounging and building sandcastles on the sandy shorelines, or up the ante with a seafront yoga class, surf lesson, or horse-riding. When it’s time for a change of pace, head into Croyde Village (ten minutes on foot). With open-air markets throughout the week and a playground that kids will love, there’s something for everyone here, including a swathe of pubs and restaurants for when thoughts turn to food. Just be sure to make it back home before the sun sets – the shared lawned garden and south-facing terrace is ‘the spot’ to watch the sun dip behind the rural Downend hills.

Skyline Cove

A ten-minute drive from the pristine shores of Devon’s Woolacombe Beach, this modern lodge is an isolated, minimalist abode that's perfect for serenity-seekers. While you can reach the town of Georgeham by taking a seven-minute stroll through the lush countryside, the home truly does feel like a world away. With spectacular green views in every direction, courtesy of the panoramic windows and floor-to-ceiling glass doors, enjoy the great outdoors even when you’re cosy inside the home. Find woven dining chairs, a plush sofa, and a cushioned headboard against your bed for when you’re relaxing indoors, as well as a bath in the en-suite for a late-night soak. But it’s the outdoor offering which we found really impressive. As well as a large, enclosed garden where you can let your pooch run wild, there are even more activities to enjoy after dusk falls on your private porch. Switch on the fairy lights for a magical evening on the soft sofa under the covered decking, then slink into the hot tub with a glass of champagne as the stars come out. This setting is simply ideal for gazing up at the night skies.

A View To Remember

Nestled in the pretty village of Croyde, this charming home-away-from-home has rest and relaxation written all over it. Our favourite spot to kick back is the sun-drenched garden, where summer barbecues and twilight cocktails are sure to be on your itinerary. With a decked seating area ideal for alfresco dining and a pretty summerhouse to retreat to when you need a break from the rays, we wouldn't blame you if you decide to spend every second here soaking up the fresh air.

Inside is just as cosy. Settle down on the plush sofas with a glass of wine and watch a film in front of the electric fire. Home cooks, meanwhile, will love preparing family feasts in the country-style kitchen. After a long walk along the coast, soak sore muscles in the bathtub before climbing into the comfortable beds for a well-deserved sleep – with so much to explore in Devon, you'll need all the energy you can get it. 

Location-wise, you're just a short walk from the village and about one mile from Croyde's sandy beach. Bring along your boards and catch some waves – there's even surfboard storage back at home – or for a more laid-back afternoon, sample the fare at the local pubs and cafes in the area, followed by a stroll along the shore. 

Pointbreak Pearl

Castaway is an elegant and comfortable cottage in the charming village of Croyde with views of the Devon coastline most of us can only dream of. We loved the classic wood burner and sailor-themed children’s room, while the luxurious bathrooms and outdoor hot tub will delight guests of all ages. The location is the true highlight, however, with easy access to outstanding areas of natural beauty on both land and sea. Woolacombe beach, hugely popular among families and surfers alike, is a 15-minute drive away, while Saunton Sands and Croyde beach - voted one of the best surfing beaches in the world - are even closer. If the beach isn't your thing, there are miles of beautiful coastal paths within walking distance, and Exmoor National Park is just 30-minutes away by car.

Castaway

If you're ready to escape into nature's embrace, then this charming lodge nestled in the heart of Devon’s green countryside is an ideal choice for you. This minimalist affair, with lovely views in every direction, is a great refuge for a few days of rest and relaxation –  especially since it's equipped with a big hot tub outside.

When you're not soaking in it and admiring the scenery, the countryside paths will take you deeper into pristine nature where you can breathe in the healthy countryside air. When you've had your fill, return to your holiday escape for a nice cup of hot cocoa on the luxurious sofa and an evening of movies to be enjoyed on the big flat-screen TV. Fall sleep with ease and wake up refreshed and rested, with the country vistas helping you to welcome a new day. 

Even though there are lots of lovely places to eat in the neighbouring towns, you can just as easily opt for staying in and cooking for yourself — there's plenty of tasty local produce available in the village, and the well-equipped kitchen will make rustling up something delicious a breeze. 


Our Cup of Tea

This original Georgian house has been completely reimagined, extended and turned into the ideal hub for large groups of friends or extended families after seamless modern living along the beautiful Devon countryside. For a cosy moment in, light the wood-burning stove and curl up on one of the squishy sofas with a cup of hot chocolate. Or relax with a great book in the separate drawing room, benefitting from charming wood floors, wallpaper prints and elegant decor to keep things extra snug. 

Outside, there are grassy lawns and a large terrace where you can cook up a feast on the barbecue. There’s a spacious dining space inside too, in case the weather isn’t on your side. With its fantastic surfing conditions, nearby Croyde Beach (twenty minutes on foot) is a destination for fans of water sports, and its golden sands are perfect for building sandcastles too. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, Croyde has some fantastic cafes, pubs and restaurants where you can refuel and possibly sample a famous Devon cream tea. Back at home, you’ll find a wet room where you can rinse off the salt and sand, as well as a grand clawfoot bath for the perfect ending to a delightful day. 

Rich Tapestry

Just a few minutes from the centre of Croyde and steps away from a path that leads to Croyde's picturesque beach and pumping surf, this semi-detached cottage is the ideal spot to enjoy your own surfers' paradise. The interior has been decorated in a contemporary style while maintaining plenty of period features and cottage charm. The bright and breezy kitchen/diner has a beautiful exposed beam ceiling and a large dining table that can accommodate the whole group. On cooler evenings, set the fire and sink into the sofa in the delightful living room. The downstairs double bedroom is perfect for anyone who'd prefer to avoid the stairs, while it also boasts direct access to the patio and lovely garden complete with outdoor furniture. Head upstairs for a further three bedrooms and a modern family bathroom. Outside, you've got a couple of parking spaces (a real luxury in peak-season Croyde), and a central courtyard with an outdoor shower. The centre of Croyde with its pubs, restaurants, cafes and surf shops is just steps away, while the dune-backed beach is a ten-minute walk. Croyde beach is one of North Devon's most stunning stretches of sand and attracts surfers year-round thanks to its reliable waves. When the surf gets too big, or the wind too strong, you're less than a ten-minute drive from Putsborough beach, where the headline protects you from those prevalent south-westerly winds. For breathtaking coastal walks, head to the nearby National Trust headland of Baggy Point where a cliffside footpath offers spectacular views of the Atlantic and Lundy Island.

Croyde Cruiser

Situated a mere ten-minute walk from the beach in Croyde, this home is ideal for those seeking a coastal retreat – and surfers, in particular. Up to eight guests will need to share two bathrooms here, one of which is an en-suite, but aside from this, there’s plenty of space for everyone to spread out and enjoy some quiet time or socialise as a group. The garden is a lovely spot for alfresco dinners while in winter, the wood burner is a welcome sight after a day on the coast. 

Surf & Sunshine

Situated in the heart of Croyde's surfing resort, this modern villa is ideally located for a relaxing retreat. Begin your mornings by cooking up a delicious breakfast in the fully equipped kitchen with the sun streaming through the bi-fold doors. During the day, catch some waves at the beautiful nearby sandy beach or take a short stroll into the quaint village to discover the array of boutique shops and highly rated eateries. If you’d like to venture further afield, head on an outdoor pursuit along the coastal walkways to Baggy Point or along the headland to Putsborough Beach and admire the panoramic views of Woolacombe Bay. After a long day out, there’s an outdoor shower to wash off your sandy feet before you hop in the hot tub to soothe aching muscles, and the private patio offers the perfect spot to finish off your day with a bottle of wine and an incredible sunset.
