If you're looking for a home with plenty of history then you've come to the right place. This farmhouse was first mentioned in the Domesday Book, and is now a Grade-II listed building packed with plenty of period features. Push open the thick oak front door, and you'll find plenty of wooden beams, original crooked walls, with open fireplaces and wood-burning stoves in all of the reception rooms. The kitchen is a magnificent place to cook, with a gas-fired range and spectacular high ceiling. You'll also love flicking through the library of books and settling down in an armchair to read in perfect peace. If the weather is good, then you're spoilt with twenty-one acres of land to roam, complete with your very own pond and stream. The outdoor entertaining area is perfect for alfresco meals as you gaze out across the south-facing garden and drink in the magnificent views. Walkers will be happy to know that a public footpath goes right by the garden, so it couldn't be easier to set out on a hike from here. And, despite the rural location, there's plenty to do close by. The local pub is just a mile away if you're in need of refreshment, and Woolacombe Beach is fifteen minutes away by car, where you can breathe in the fresh sea air. And, with Exmoor National Park, Lee Bay, and Croyde all within a twenty to thirty-minute drive, you'll love exploring this lovely corner of Devon. 

Deep in the Countryside

Experience quaint coastal village living in this Appledore seaside home. Here, you are a short walk from shops, the golden Instow Beach, restaurants serving a variety of local seafood, and the sand dunes at the end of Marine Parade. For more active folk, step right off the doorstep to the Tarka Trail for miles of footpaths, cycling, and surfing beaches. Added bonuses: secure storage for your bicycles and surfboards, and an outdoor shower to rinse off the sand. Inside, regal details paired with a relaxed beach vibe welcome you. In the main living area find plush sofas, an ornate fireplace, and large bay windows allowing fresh ocean breeze in. Impressive kitchen and dining accommodations include underfloor heating, a Bose music system, and a large table surrounded by a comfy wraparound bench. Gather friends and family here or in the enclosed garden complete with barbecue, grassy yard, and a path leading to some more plant life and bench seating. At the end of the day, relish the sunset over the estuary on the upper loungy deck.

Bastion of the Sea

This luxurious holiday home is just a seven-minute walk to the village of Georgeham, where you can enjoy a pint of ale in a traditional pub. But in this bright and beautiful lodge, rural life meets modern sensibilities. As soon as you arrive, passing through rolling green fields and grazing sheep, the first thing you’ll notice is the spectacular outdoor space. Framing your gorgeous blue wooden home is a lush lawn, a pale wood decking with outdoor seating, and our favourite feature – a traditional, wooden outdoor hot tub. But before you jump in to start soaking the night away, it’s also worth exploring the indoors. With floor-to-ceiling windows and glass sliding doors, this home really allows you to bring the outside in. Plush velvet chairs and a cushy sofa bring a softness to the otherwise minimalist living space – a perfect setting for a warm Earl Grey after a long day on the windswept beaches of Devon. While these dramatic coastlines are of course a major attraction of staying in this area, you can also find some of the county’s best dog-friendly beaches, such as Woolacombe Beach, just ten minutes away. Perfect for you and the pup.

Everyday Luxuries

Perched on the edge of the river Clydach and surrounded by trees, this little cottage makes the perfect setting to experience the idyllic beauty of South Wales. 

Formerly a farmer’s building used for animals on the Plas Cilybebyll estate, the owners have thoughtfully transformed this space into a private sanctuary. And stepping inside, you’ll find a home that celebrates its origins whilst bringing ease and comfort to your stay. From the traditional Welsh craftsmanship to the local art and personal touches, every detail inspires a wonderful sense of welcome. So whether you’re listening to the sound of the water on the patio, enjoying a meal under the trees or relaxing with a long soak in the bath, you’ll find this home provides a constant sense of serenity.  

Days can be spent admiring the local wildlife, observing ancient plant fossils and hiking across this majestic landscape – there’s a farm trail leading directly from the house. You’ll also find the nearest supermarket, pubs and cafes are just minutes away. 

The Singing Brook

Summers spent at the seaside live long in the memory of families, and this home will be another one to add to the memory bank. Live out your own childhood nostalgia of building sandcastles on sandy shores and sunny walks along the coastline. Being situated between the popular Devon destinations of Woolacoombe and Ilfracombe, you'll be in a prime location to take full advantage of a seaside holiday here. Spend ten minutes wandering the local coast path to Grunta Beach where the turquoise water gleams like blue crystals in the sun, or make the six minute-drive to Woolacombe for a classic English day out at the beach on a huge stretch of sand with sea waves to jump over. 

English cottages don't come much more traditional than this one with its characterful wooden beams and doors. With a wood burner and garden oasis to enjoy, the whole family will love returning here after a day out on the sand. Pick up some freshly caught fish & chips at the shop next door and live out your seaside nostalgia. While this home is traditional in many ways, we can't help but admire the handmade copper bathtub in the master bedroom – a real touch of modern luxury in a classic English home.

Seaside Nostalgia

Delivering knockout sea views of Woolacombe Beach, the setting of this detached, family home is hard to beat. The panoramas from the free-flowing living room and alfresco terraces are just as impressive in the light-filled bedrooms. However, we'll leave you to decide who lucks out on the main bedroom suite with a private sea-facing veranda for morning cuppas. When it's time to hit the beach for morning dog walks, Woolcombe's three-mile stretch of golden sands is just five minutes away on foot. As are the village's bustling restaurants and cafes for when tummies begin to rumble.

Comes in Waves

An escape to Devon is always a good idea. Staying in this beautiful home elevates it to an excellent one. The home comprises a grand Georgian house and the original farmhouse from the 16th century. They’re joined together by a secret internal door disguised as a bookcase – it’s like an Agatha Christie novel. 

This gorgeous home can be found in north Devon, tucked away amid rolling countryside. It’s just a twenty-two-minute drive from Ilfracombe beach, so paddling, surfing, and strolling along the sand can all easily be added to the day’s agenda. You might find that you’re content to stay at home though – there’s enough here to keep everyone entertained for sure. 

You might begin your day with a swim in the heated swimming pool, before settling down to a hearty breakfast. There are two kitchens so cooking is a breeze here. There are also several living rooms, so you’re never short of space – ideal when travelling as a large group. 

Children will love the games room and the outdoor play area, but the jewel in the crown for them will likely be the animal closure. Meet the pygmy goats and alpacas, and admire the peacocks and ducklings. The little ones will be talking about their holiday for months to come. 

Everyone will enjoy the outdoor space, whether you’re sunbathing, cooking on the barbecue, or playing on the lawn. After an alfresco dinner, pour the Champagne and head over to the hot tub on the south-facing terrace. Enjoy the last of the summer sun as you relax and unwind – what bliss. 


Coulscott House

Far-reaching views of Ilfracombe’s sea, town, and harbour await at this elevated apartment retreat. It’s a panorama best admired from the south-facing balcony, which leads off the apartment's living room and bedroom. While the interiors aren’t anything to write home about, it’s all well-cared for and would suit a fuss-free family getaway. The private parking will be handy for bucket-and-spade days along the South West Coast. Or keep things local – Ilfracombe’s historic Tunnels Beaches, quaint harbour, and bustling independent shops and restaurants are just a short stroll away.

The Sea Perch

If you're ready to escape into nature's embrace, then this charming lodge nestled in the heart of Devon’s green countryside is an ideal choice for you. This minimalist affair, with lovely views in every direction, is a great refuge for a few days of rest and relaxation –  especially since it's equipped with a big hot tub outside.

When you're not soaking in it and admiring the scenery, the countryside paths will take you deeper into pristine nature where you can breathe in the healthy countryside air. When you've had your fill, return to your holiday escape for a nice cup of hot cocoa on the luxurious sofa and an evening of movies to be enjoyed on the big flat-screen TV. Fall sleep with ease and wake up refreshed and rested, with the country vistas helping you to welcome a new day. 

Even though there are lots of lovely places to eat in the neighbouring towns, you can just as easily opt for staying in and cooking for yourself — there's plenty of tasty local produce available in the village, and the well-equipped kitchen will make rustling up something delicious a breeze. 


Our Cup of Tea

Situated a mere ten-minute walk from the beach in Croyde, this home is ideal for those seeking a coastal retreat – and surfers, in particular. Up to eight guests will need to share two bathrooms here, one of which is an en-suite, but aside from this, there’s plenty of space for everyone to spread out and enjoy some quiet time or socialise as a group. The garden is a lovely spot for alfresco dinners while in winter, the wood burner is a welcome sight after a day on the coast. 

Surf & Sunshine

Only moments from the ocean, this top-floor apartment is a dream come true for sun-chasers, surfers and everyone in between. Morning, noon or night, you'll be drawn to the balcony – how can you not be, with sensational views spanning up and down the Devon coast? As you sit back with a cup of coffee or a glass of bubbly come evening, you can watch the waves crash on Woolacombe Beach and breathe in the salty air. 

Even inside, the panoramas out of the Velux windows speak for themselves. Light floods the small but stylish living area, creating a cosy place to watch TV, snooze on the sofa or dine on fresh-caught mackerel straight from the ocean. And after a long walk along the South West Coast Path, a snuggle in the comfortable beds is just what’s needed.

Speaking of location, Woolacombe Beach is a mere 100 metres away. Take advantage of the miles of golden sand at your doorstep and spend your afternoon building sandcastles, swimming in the waves and sunbathing on the shore. You're also walking distance from the restaurants, pubs and shops in Woolacombe – ideal for some fish and chips after a refreshing dip in the sea.

To Touch The Waves

An exquisite apartment overlooking Saunton Sands for that spectacular panorama where you can hear the soothing waves cascading against the coast, and what's even better is that the building has its own landscaped gardens with direct access down to the beach. This opulent and minimalist apartment caters to all of your desires, from temperature-controlled wine fridges for that evening glass of wine on the balcony to ultra-soft mattresses with a bathtub in the main bedroom to conclude the evening in comfort.

The setting itself is memorable, with a plethora of nearby activities. Go with the flow of the waves and learn to surf down at Saunton Sands, you may even be able to arrange a session with the champion herself, Sarah Whiteley, and her crew at Walking on the Waves. Gallop across Croyde beach with horses from Royston Stables, or you may wish to plan a quieter pony trip for the kids. Visit Lundy Island by boat to see seals, ponies, prison caves, sea cliffs, and (from March to August) puffins. The list goes on and on, so go down to Saunton Sands and see yourself.
