By The Bulrushes

This exquisitely renovated bakehouse provides a sweet escape amidst the glorious rolling hills and wooded valleys of East Devon. It sits in the lovely village of Musbury, within walking distance of the local shop and pub and just a twelve-minute drive from Lyme Regis and its spectacular Jurassic coastline. 

The interior strikes the perfect balance between contemporary comfort and authentic charm. Look closely, and you'll spot ample inklings of this home's storied past, from the beam-clad ceilings to the Juliet balcony, where flour bags were once hauled from the loft below. On the first floor, the open-plan living area is blessed by heaps of natural light, offering a free-flowing canvas of calm with lofty vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors and partially exposed stone walls. Plush sofas huddle around the wood-burning fireplace – a lovely space for chilly evenings – while the fully-equipped kitchen and diner offer direct access to the garden. Enclosed for privacy and boasting a lush lawn, the outdoor space beckons you to unwind in the fresh air. The Old Bakery

Situated in the village of Bishopsteignton, this home welcomes all the family – including four-legged members. In the garden, there’s a sheltered area for dining and a hot tub for relaxing after a day at the seaside. Head inside, and you’ll find table football to keep everyone occupied on grey days. Just so you know, at capacity, the snug doubles as a bedroom and two guests will sleep on a sofa bed. Ready to hit the beach? Teignmouth is a ten-minute drive away. 

South Coast Sun

In the heart of a quaint little village in Somerset, this 16th century thatched cottage seamlessly blends rustic charm with modern comforts and restored interiors. Stone floors, whitewashed walls and thick oak doors house the open plan living area, complete with a high-spec kitchen with an electric Aga, a cosy sitting room where you can curl up on the armchair with a book off the shelf, and a wooden dining table with ornate chairs. The back door leads out into a picture-perfect courtyard, enclosed by stone walls. The air is scented by the lavender bush and the climbing roses, and on sunny days, gather at the outdoor table for a languid lunch. 

The cottage is a short walk from two lovely country pubs serving locally sourced food and Somerset cider. There is a village shop where you can buy provisions for dinner, or head two miles into the town of Ilminster, where you’ll find a variety of local shops and a supermarket. You’ll easily fall into the swing of peaceful village life here, and leave feeling rested and rejuvenated.

Tudor Rose Cottage

Lie low for a while at this Devonshire countryside retreat, nestled deep within a sprawling 86-acre estate. This lovingly hand-crafted shepherd’s hut is meticulously designed throughout to offer every creature comfort you could imagine. Surprisingly spacious, expect pristine, restful interiors – all wrapped up in a whimsical feature wallpaper adding just the right touch of rural romance. Kickstart your day in the sleek, modern shower room, then curl up on the sofa to enjoy toast and freshly-brewed coffee – best served with those double doors wide open to take in the uninterrupted countryside vistas outside. As night falls, cosy up beside the firepit (which handily doubles as your barbeque for alfresco meals) for an evening of stargazing and marshmallow roasting – on a clear evening, you might even catch a shooting star. In chiller months, take things inside and pull up a pew at the granite-clad bar area as you rustle up a meal in the made-for-action kitchen. The wine fridge will keep your tipple perfectly chilled, while the underfloor heating will keep your toes toasty. Cosy up in front of the TV and while away an evening with a relaxing movie night. Should you ever wish to leave this charming nook for two, you’ll find the historic town of Tavistock is just a five-minute drive away, where you’ll find bustling shops, restaurants, and an award-winning gastro-pub complete with a sunny beer garden. Or up the ante and take off into the beautiful wilds of Dartmoor National Park and the Tamar Valley (both less than half an hour's drive away) – you’re perfectly placed equidistance from them both.

Little Bo Peep

This gorgeous converted barn allows you to connect with nature. Perfect for hosting no matter the weather, enjoy a garden party on the lawn or get festive indoors with a roaring fire. The rustic kitchen and ample dining space are perfect for those who love to cook with love for their family. The Wendy house, tire swing, and games room provide endless entertainment for children who love to play. 

Wooden beams adorn the ceilings, adding to the farm life vibes. Look out of the window to spot any free–roaming ducks from the surrounding one–hundred acres of land, who have come to say hello. You may also hear the clucks of the neighbouring chickens.

Guests can enjoy the sprawling countryside with nature walks and wildlife photography. Feeling adventurous? Pop down to The Bear Trail, an obstacle course packed full of challenges that will leave you craving a sit down at the end of the day. Luckily for you, this home provides guests with plenty of seating areas – inside and out.

Located in the picturesque village of Harrowbarrow, with sweeping views of the Cornish countryside and Tamar Valley, this Grade II-listed building is sure to impress.
