After lunch at the deli downstairs, hop on the small passenger ferry that whips you across the bay to Instow. There you’ll find a beautiful sandy beach – and hopefully an ice cream. Surfers will be pleased to be a nine-minute drive from the Blue Flag beach of Westward Ho!

However you spend your time, returning to the bright but cosy apartment will feel liking coming home. Sip wine in a bubble bath while someone else nips out for fish and chips, then sink onto one of the huge sofas for a night watching the stars.

If it's the beach you crave, drive ten minutes to Westward Ho! – a Blue Flag beach where the kids can try watersports while you pitch a parasol and relax on the golden sands.

Fling open the sets of doors and just breathe in that sea air. We particularly love the covered terrace, with cosy outdoor sofas so you can sip your drinks and admire the view. The master bedroom comes with an in-room freestanding bathtub and the luxurious shower room is decked out in marble, with a fabulous rainfall shower.

By day, splash and play on the beach (don't forget your surfboards – there's a place to store them here) or head to nearby Croyde and Woolacombe. Walk the sand dunes of Braunton Burrows or play a round at Saunton Golf Club, and in the evening enjoy meals together at the big dining table. It's even dog-friendly there's so no need to leave out your four-legged family members here.

Surfers will love catching waves on Saunton Sands – there's even wetsuit and surfboard storage as well as an outdoor shower on-site. Keen walkers can trek the South West Coastal Path – it runs directly past the apartment – while golfers can hit the links at Saunton Golf Club. For pubs and restaurants, head inland to Braunton (five minutes by car), or for a change of scenery, make the fifteen-minute drive to Woolacombe.

Located in the heart of Braunton’s historic quarter, this modern cottage puts you in a prime position to explore the delights of this vibrant village as well as the stunning sights along the North Devon coast. 

Start mornings with a sunny alfresco breakfast on the private courtyard’s patio before setting off for a day of adventure. Your outdoor space is equipped with surf and cycle anchor points, as well as wetsuit hooks to make sure your holiday is as active as you want it to be.

After a day in the great outdoors – cycling the Tarka Trail that runs through Braunton or swimming at Saunton Sands (a ten-minute drive) – come back to your home for a glass of wine in front of the fire followed by a celebratory meal cooked up in the sleek kitchen. When it’s time for bed, you’ll find the upstairs bedrooms waiting to drift you into a restful night’s sleep, leaving you feeling rested and refreshed for another day of fun.

Make the most of the outdoor space at this home by enjoying alfresco meals on the decking area and treating yourself to indulgent dips in the hot tub. This pretty lodge is surrounded by fields and farmland, making it an excellent location from which to explore the Devon countryside. There are public footpaths and bridleways within walking distance, and many picturesque trails to follow within the surrounding area. The North Devon coast is also just over two miles away, meaning you can hop in a car to reach the surfing hub of Saunton Sands, the pretty dunes of Croyde Beach and the colourful beach huts of Woolacombe. And, when you come back home after your adventures, there's no better place to curl up than in the wood-panelled living room – we recommend savouring some Devon scones with cream and jam as you do.

Our favourite spot to kick back is the sun-drenched garden, where summer barbecues and twilight cocktails are sure to be on your itinerary. With a decked seating area ideal for alfresco dining and a pretty summerhouse to retreat to when you need a break from the rays, we wouldn't blame you if you decide to spend every second here soaking up the fresh air.

Inside is just as cosy. Settle down on the plush sofas with a glass of wine and watch a film in front of the electric fire. Home cooks, meanwhile, will love preparing family feasts in the country-style kitchen. After a long walk along the coast, soak sore muscles in the bathtub before climbing into the comfortable beds for a well-deserved sleep – with so much to explore in Devon, you'll need all the energy you can get it. 

Location-wise, you're just a short walk from the village and about one mile from Croyde's sandy beach. Bring along your boards and catch some waves – there's even surfboard storage back at home – or for a more laid-back afternoon, sample the fare at the local pubs and cafes in the area, followed by a stroll along the shore.

The beach is particularly popular with surfers, equally entertaining whether you're people-watching or getting out on the waves yourself. The sand dunes are also just a ten-minute walk away, but if you want a bit of greenery, explore the Northern Devon Area of Natural Beauty to get your fix.
