The apartment makes the most of its hillside location, with folding doors across the front of the building which flood the space with light and can be opened to let the sea breeze in. There are sea views from nearly every angle, with the master bedroom looking out over the North Devon coast, as does the large living room. On sunny days, sit outside on the Mediterranean-style patio and sip a glass of something refreshing. From the home it's a five-minute walk to the cliff railway and the bars and shops of Lynton and Lynmouth. There are also many walking trails in the area, The South West Coast Path is very easily accessible, or you could hop in the car and head inland to explore the quant villages and moorlands of Exmoor National Park.

For a complete change of scene, the surfing beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe are within forty minutes' drive. Spend your days here strolling along the waters, and taking in the surrounding sights and countryside. Along the banks of the river, you will have easy access to the famous National Trust house and team rooms at Watersmeet. Plus, the village itself offers a picturesque harbour and a sand and pebble beach for you to explore. 

In the late afternoon, why not return home and take full advantage of the patio to enjoy a Devonshire cream tea in the fresh air as you admire the beautiful natural views? While for dinnertime, alfresco cooking, and dining can be on the menu with the home’s barbecue. 

On chilly nights, we would highly recommend settling down in front of the roaring wood-burning fireplace with your furry four-legged friend curled up at your feet, for a cosy end to the day.

This place had us on those sweeping countryside views alone – it’s just green paddocks and rolling valleys for as far as the eye can see. And that was before we’d even noticed that suntrap terrace with hot tub.

Set on a private estate made up of seven holiday cottages and a mere ten-minute drive from some of North Devon’s most picturesque sandy bays, it’s got family holiday written all over it. Splash about in the heated indoor pool. Let little ones burn off steam in the impressive play area (or indoor soft play and games room should the weather turn). Meet the estate’s farm animals (over fifty and counting) at feeding time. Grab yourself some ‘me time’ with an onsite yoga or aqua aerobics class. Or head off on an adventure with furry friends through the gardens, sunken lanes, meadows, and streams (perfect for little dam-builders) – there are sixteen acres to explore here.

When thoughts turn to food, pick your own at the estate’s kitchen garden and greenhouse then rustle up a bite to eat at home. Or grab something from the onsite honesty shop, stocked with frozen meals, BBQ packs from the local farm shop, and lashings of ice cream. Then all that’s left to do is put your feet up and hunker down at home. With features dating back to the sixteenth century, a stay at this former farmhouse epitomises a Devon country retreat. Within the grounds, you’ve got a shared indoor swimming pool, games room and playparks aplenty for the kids. Feeding sessions at the animal enclosures take place in the morning where you can get close to the alpacas, piglets and pygmy goats. And there’s an honesty shop onsite too, selling delights like eggs straight from the farm, home-cooked ready meals and barbecue meat packs. If you want to explore the wider area, Combe Martin is a five-minute drive away with a couple of local pubs and a supermarket, and Combe Martin’s beach is just a ten-minute drive.

The home itself dated back to the sixteenth century and you can feel this history in the old beams, minstrel’s gallery above the living room and listed staircase inside. Decor touches like an old spinning wheel, suspended aviary and antique writer’s bureau bring that old-world feel back into the bones of the home and the living room is set around a traditional old stove set in stonework. The huge kitchen is designed farmhouse-style with a big range cooker and island in the centre surrounded by high chairs. The master bedroom features a carved four-posted bed and each bedroom is decorated with antique darkwoork furniture and Victoriana accents. 

Outside a delightful surprise awaits. A bubbling hot tub overlooks the gardens and out to the rolling hills beyond. There’s also dining for the group on the patio, courtesy of a barbecue and perhaps a hamper of locally-sourced meat from the honesty shop onsite.

It’s a six-minute drive into Combe Martin to stock up at the local supermarket or maybe pause in a local, cosy pub. The crenulated, columned Victorian face of this home is a far cry from a typical, rustic farmhouse. Although this Pembrokeshire apartment underwent a recent renovation, one thing that hasn't changed is just how peaceful the view from the balcony is, with the unmistakably blue waters of Carmarthen Bay peering through the trees. It may not be the biggest outdoor space in the world, but this seaward orientation makes up for it.

Inside, the glass doors in the main living area are especially generous when it comes to natural light and this dances pleasingly off the wooden floors and white walls. When it comes to the design, it's a pretty simple affair with only a few pieces of coastal artwork nodding to the location, but it's all been executed pretty well, particularly the sleek kitchen and bathroom.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the local area, the centre of Saundersfoot and its beach is all of five mintues' walk from the front door. The town of Tenby is also only ten minutes' drive down the coastline and offers visitors a castle and a selection of galleries to visit.
