The apartment makes the most of its hillside location, with folding doors across the front of the building which flood the space with light and can be opened to let the sea breeze in. There are sea views from nearly every angle, with the master bedroom looking out over the North Devon coast, as does the large living room. On sunny days, sit outside on the Mediterranean-style patio and sip a glass of something refreshing. From the home it's a five-minute walk to the cliff railway and the bars and shops of Lynton and Lynmouth. There are also many walking trails in the area, The South West Coast Path is very easily accessible, or you could hop in the car and head inland to explore the quant villages and moorlands of Exmoor National Park.

For a complete change of scene, the surfing beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe are within forty minutes' drive. However, on blustery autumn days, you'll find local surfers descending on Lynmouth to escape the south-westerly winds that blow out the waves at other beaches.

It’s a delightful spot on the North Devon coast, offering easy access to beaches as well as moorland and wooded hills. You’re only a six-minute drive from Blacklands Beach – make sure you bring your bucket and spade. If you want to get back to nature while still retaining ease and comfort, this is a great choice. 

The home is cosy and comfortable, with plenty of room for everyone to gather together. There’s a traditional farmhouse-style kitchen at the heart of the home, and a dining room where you can enjoy everything from hearty cooked breakfasts to set you up for a day, to fish and chips fresh from the paper after a day on the coast. You’ll also love the petite patio garden, which is filled with flowers – it’s a wonderful spot when the sun is shining. There’s even a barbecue for those lazy sunny afternoons. 

You’re within easy walking distance of Lynton’s independent shops and cafes here, as well as some characterful pubs. With features dating back to the sixteenth century, a stay at this former farmhouse epitomises a Devon country retreat. Within the grounds, you’ve got a shared indoor swimming pool, games room and playparks aplenty for the kids. Feeding sessions at the animal enclosures take place in the morning where you can get close to the alpacas, piglets and pygmy goats. And there’s an honesty shop onsite too, selling delights like eggs straight from the farm, home-cooked ready meals and barbecue meat packs. If you want to explore the wider area, Combe Martin is a five-minute drive away with a couple of local pubs and a supermarket, and Combe Martin’s beach is just a ten-minute drive.

The home itself dated back to the sixteenth century and you can feel this history in the old beams, minstrel’s gallery above the living room and listed staircase inside. Decor touches like an old spinning wheel, suspended aviary and antique writer’s bureau bring that old-world feel back into the bones of the home and the living room is set around a traditional old stove set in stonework. The huge kitchen is designed farmhouse-style with a big range cooker and island in the centre surrounded by high chairs. The master bedroom features a carved four-posted bed and each bedroom is decorated with antique darkwoork furniture and Victoriana accents. 

Outside a delightful surprise awaits. A bubbling hot tub overlooks the gardens and out to the rolling hills beyond. There’s also dining for the group on the patio, courtesy of a barbecue and perhaps a hamper of locally-sourced meat from the honesty shop onsite.

This place had us on those sweeping countryside views alone – it’s just green paddocks and rolling valleys for as far as the eye can see. And that was before we’d even noticed that suntrap terrace with hot tub.
