The full-height arched windows flood this space with light and allow guests to enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding area. You’re just a short walk from Salcombe High Street, and if you wish to drive, you’ll be pleased to know there’s parking here (it’s a shared driveway with your neighbour). And while the outdoor dining set is a little sun-bleached, it’s a lovely spot to enjoy alfresco breakfasts and barbecue dinners. Inside, the open-plan kitchen and dining room are perfect for entertaining family and friends, while the living room is an inviting space to share a few games of cards.

Easily accessible courtesy of the lift from the covered parking area, head on up to the third floor and you’ll find an open-plan, light-filled space waiting to welcome you home. Better still, Salcombe's centre is just a short stroll away, so you'll never be too far from shops, eateries and the water.

Just a short stroll from the centre of Salcombe, this apartment is a refreshing coastal escape. The rooms are bright and breezy, the balcony has beautiful views across the estuary and we love the sweet extras like the Sonos sound system, Netflix and The White Company toiletries. Families should note that child-friendly amenities aren’t available here and that little ones will need to be supervised in the communal garden. Still, it’s a fantastic location with easy access to East Portlemouth's beaches, as well as hiking trails through the surrounding countryside – not to mention private parking for adventures further afield.

The views from the terrace and balcony are breathtaking, and you can enjoy them while sharing alfresco meals and sipping on gin and tonics in the comfy outdoor seating areas. The lush garden is also a great addition, and from here you’ll be able to access a footpath leading directly to North Sands. Inside, you’ll find plenty to keep the whole family happy, including a wood-burning stove and for a good night’s rest, comfy beds and luxury bedding. There are quite a few steps to climb here, so the home may not suit guests with reduced mobility.

There’s no chance of forgetting where you are when you stay in The Bowline. The nautical theme runs through the entire apartment (and when you head out, the entire town of Salcombe), but with good reason. This part of south Devon has some of the most picturesque coast in the country, so it makes sense that the area emphasises that. The apartment itself is charming, with a real homely atmosphere. It’s not huge, but if you don’t try to pack it out, it’s plenty big enough, and Diana’s hosting is top-notch, which goes a very long way.

Tucked away in a peaceful but central part of Salcombe, this home had our attention the second we caught those views. With a raised position and spread over three floors, the windows are perfect for watching the town’s iconic harbour. Downstairs, the large living space combines the dining room, kitchen, and living room, meaning guests can easily break off into smaller groups while still being together. Nearby, the adventurous can try crabbing along Victoria Quay or even have a go at paddle boarding. You’ll also want to take advantage of the free parking permit, ideal for exploring even more of Devon’s stunning coastline.

The Seashells for Days

Seeking a seaside getaway in central Salcombe? This dog-friendly home sits on Victoria Quay within strolling distance of bars, eateries, and crabbing spots. Ideal for couples or small families, you'll find a topsy-turvy layout inside, with two bedrooms as you enter. Upstairs, the living area centres around a sun-trapping terrace, perfect for hanging out with harbour-facing views. Though a parking permit is provided to make exploring easier, unguaranteed spaces are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

This Grade II listed property in Salcombe is a known landmark with its own stone tower dating back to 1795. With its cliffside position just above Salcombe Yacht Club, the house features gorgeous views over the Salcombe estuary, beaches, hills, and out to sea. With two acres of grounds, you could spend hours exploring the gently winding paths and terraced gardens, before enjoying an alfresco dinner on the huge balcony that runs right along the house. Afterwards, jump into the outdoor jacuzzi, run a hot bubble bath or curl up beside the fire with a glass of wine. Venture into Salcombe to wander along the sandy beaches, stopping at the seafood shacks for snacks along the way, and watch boats bobbing in the picture-perfect harbour. There are also bracing coastal walks along the nearby South West Coast Path, and you can try your hand at water sports in the estuary.

You may hear some noise from the local pub during your stay, but you will find plenty of space and a lovely sense of community.

As the cottage is spread over three floors, those with limited mobility may find the stairs tricky.

You'll be perched along Victoria Quay's sea wall, only a short stroll from the high street and quayside.

With a designated parking area for two cars, you can drop your bags and be strolling about the bustling shops and restaurants in no time here – the town’s centre is just five minutes from your door (or a tad longer coming back up the hill). Outside, a suntrap terrace is perfect for morning coffees or sundowners, and the yoga hut for those who like to keep up their practice is a nice touch.

Ideal for extended families wanting to holiday together without crowding each other, the four bedrooms are spaced apart across three floors with a downstairs double bunk bed room, complete with a cosy TV den that little ones will love. What’s more, there’s a sun-trap private terrace with a barbecue for alfresco meals on long summer nights. Perched along a quiet street, and yet just a short stroll from the bustling high street and waterfront to jump on a boat (your host can organise champagne cruises), its location is spot on.

The kitchen and dining area can seat up to twelve guests, with floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening onto the lower decking area and garden. A ten-minute walk brings you to the high street, with a variety of shops and eateries.

Push the boat out with a stay at this coastal apartment overlooking Salcombe's North Sands. The sunset views from the private terrace are a knockout, and if the weather doesn't buck up, the vistas are just as impressive curled up on the sofa in the elegant lounge. With Salcombe's iconic beach and seafront café, Winking Shrimp, just a three-minute walk from your door, you couldn't dream up a better location. However, it's worth noting the centre of Salcombe is a bit of a walk, so you might prefer to drive if you have little ones in tow.

This Grade II listed cottage is a true original among the portfolio of luxury holiday homes in Salcombe. Located in a peaceful corner of Batson but still close to all the action on and off the water – you've got the best of both worlds here. The front garden captures the sun for most of the day and is perfect for morning cuppas. Add in a children's loft bedroom with a TV snug, and you can see why this home caught our eye. If nine of you are sharing, there may be some waiting around in the mornings with just two bathrooms. But in a house this stylish and with so many cosy nooks to relax, we doubt you'll be in a rush.

We could see ourselves spending all day out here – we might even have a go on the ping pong table – but if you fancy exploring further afield, there’s plenty to discover nearby. Put on your walking shoes and head out for a hike through the countryside or jump in the car and make your way to the beach for a picnic by the sea. Bliss.

Just under half a mile from Salcombe Harbour (around a ten-minute walk) this garden apartment boasts shimmering vistas of the waters beyond. Set in a tasteful, modern building, we think you’ll be spending a lot of your time on the extensive private terrace. With glass-fronted balconies, you can take in the views while reclining on sun loungers with a cocktail in hand. 

After sunset, you can step inside for an aperitif before heading out to dinner. The living space is an inviting nest of cushy corner sofas, woollen throws, and wooden floors. Perfectly modern and rustic at the same time. Sophistication and elegance continue throughout the home, culminating in a superbly stylish dining space with a chunky timber bench and nautical colours – not that you’ll be dining in much.
