With its wonderful white–washed facade, aged windows and brown front door with shrubs to either side, from the outside, this home is a picture–perfect haven steeped in rural charm. A backdrop of sprawling, perfectly–manicured lawns and verdant trees make the setting all the more picturesque, meanwhile the lovely little garden area serves up the ideal spot to privately soak up the sparkling Devonshire rays.

The outside of this home is enough to tug on our heartstrings, but as we meander our way from room to room, we can't help but become more enamoured with the place. Cute and cosy with a winning mixture of classic and contemporary touches, we love the fact that in spite of some of its more modern updates, the home has retained all of its classic charm. The natural wooden doors instantly add to that warm, welcoming appeal, meanwhile the addition of skylight windows invite the sunlight to stream its way inside.

Each and every nook and cranny tells its own unique story, but if you ask us, the real heart of this home is the living area. With a traditional log burner at its centre and leather sofa just waiting to be sunk into, we can already see ourselves curling up here as dusk settles with a large glass of red and some rich chocolate truffles – heaven!

A popular bathing spot, its coastal location is a wonderful place to replenish your mind and body, and its annual regatta is another reason to stick around. This cute cottage is set just one mile from Ness Cove Beach, but you've also got the river on your doorstep – water, water is truly everywhere. 

Authentic and original, this home is every bit the coastal abode you’d expect from Devon. We love the white painted exterior, shuttered windows, and a patio out front complete with a colourful parasol. While you might be spending a fair bit of time out here with your morning coffee, or evening tipple, you’ll also love the delights of the interiors.

The living space feels homely and inviting from the offset. Creams and beiges are reminiscent of the sands on the shore, while chunky timber beams and supports bring a rustic warmth to the lounge. You’ll love cuddling up on the plump sofas by the fire with a cuppa, just as much as you’ll love eating fresh local fish for dinner on the dining table. Surfing can wait until tomorrow morning.

Hop off a yacht at Torquay Marina and take an eighteen-minute stroll to this fabulous apartment, fit for any VIP. Upon arrival, your host will have a bottle of wine waiting for you. Before you even start exploring this modern flat, pour yourself a glass and say cheers to the start of the holiday. Do you like a home with a view? Because this one offers several. From its many large windows, you can spot the bay, beaches, harbours, the marina, and of course the big blue sea itself. On a sunny day, we recommend taking a bowl of olives and a chilled prosecco out to the private balcony – pop up the parasol if it gets too hot. Indoors, pristine white and cream interiors make the space feel fresh, with a mint-green sofa which you can sink into after a long day of beachside activities. South Devon might feel distinctly Mediterranean, but you’ll certainly enjoy ending the day with a refreshing cup of Earl Grey.

Although the classic sitcom Fawlty Towers gave the impression that accommodation in Torquay left much to be desired, this majestic townhouse completely dispels that notion. 

Having been renovated in 2022, the design brings together boldly patterned wallpaper, a smattering of antique furnishings, some well-chosen pieces of artwork and tufted furnishings to create an interior that feels traditional but far from stale. The bright blue tiling in the bathroom is rather fetching, too

It must be said that the standout features are found in the garden, which is filled with flowers during the warmer months. As well as offering plenty of seating out on the terrace, there's also a hot tub in which you can pass summer evenings.

If the weather gods are smiling down upon you during your stay, the shingle beach at Anstey's Cove can be reached in under fifteen minutes, while Babbacombe Beach takes ten minutes more than that. The Kent Cavern caves are only eight minutes away on foot, too.

Step inside to laidback styling and countryside charm; the neutral colour scheme, sumptuous furnishings and quiet bedrooms are instantly welcoming. Start your mornings with rounds of buttery toast at the dining table before finishing the last of your coffee on the sun-trap terrace. 

Take a moment to relax with a good book in the cosy living space and when it’s time to explore, slip on your sandals and take the seventeen-minute walk to Ness Cove Beach, accessed via the intriguingly-named Smugglers Tunnel. If you’d like to explore a little further afield, jump in the car and drive for six minutes to Teignmouth – stroll along the promenade or try your hand at kayaking, coasteering or paddle boarding. When the day draws to a close, reflect on your adventures with a gin and tonic in the London Inn, no more than a five-minute saunter from your doorstep.

The wi-fi can be patchy here because of the rural location, but with a hot tub to occupy your time and the coast on your doorstep, surfing the web is likely to be the last thing on your mind.

Inside, you’ll find vaulted ceilings, wooden beam and plenty of space for a small family or few friends. The terrace is ideal for an alfresco breakfast before you head out to explore – after all, Cockington Country Park is right on your doorstep. The resort town of Torquay is under a mile away, where you’ll find bustling restaurants, sandy beaches and a variety of unique seaside attractions. Everything is easy here – your host will even provide you with a parking permit for some of the local beauty spots, and a delicious complimentary Devon cream tea to indulge in.

It’s all about the seafront location here – just moments from the sands of Torquay Beach this minimal apartment provides an ocean view from your private balcony. Everyone loves a home with a story, and this former coastguard's cottage overlooking Torbay must have many. It's been standing here on the clifftop since the 18th Century, just steps from the seven-acre nature reserve of Daddyhole Plain. Complete with the old 'coastguard hammer', once used to wake the men when needed at sea, it's been through a careful and stylish renovation lately – resulting in a stunning home in a knockout location.

Entering through the tile-floored lobby, you first come to the open-plan living and dining room. With modern, comfy furnishings, crisp white walls and a log burner, it's an absolute delight and flooded with natural light. A sleek, contemporary kitchen is perfectly practical for meals at home and you'll have a choice of outdoor spots to enjoy – a courtyard garden at the rear and a south-facing terrace at the front. Upstairs, the bedrooms are beautifully styled and some boast sea views.

Well-placed for exploring nearby Torquay and the English Riviera, it's perfect for families, and the ability to let them run loose just outside on the Plain is a god-send for those with young children. And keen walkers will love this location too – the South West Coast Path is just ahead of you.

This fantastic Victorian villa in the English Riviera is the perfect home for family holidays. Located in Paignton, this home is only a short walk from many great activities including Paignton Beach – a nineteen-minute walk away – where you will find the pier, the Geopark, a fairy cove, pirates bay adventure golf, and even a multiplex cinema perfect for those typical rainy British days. What’s more, Splashdown water park is a short nine-minute walk away and Torbay Leisure Centre – with its pool, gym and squash courts – is reachable in twelve minutes on foot.

Your little ones will love letting off steam in the home’s large, enclosed garden too, with the kid's swing, trampoline, treehouse, football goal and pirate boat. Meanwhile, you can relax on the garden bench with a good book or enjoy an afternoon Devonshire cream tea alfresco at the outdoor dining area. 

When it’s time to come indoors, head from the decked veranda through the French doors into the living space. Curl up on the sofa to watch a family film and even make it cosier with the wood-burning stove, which can be lit for additional warmth or roasting marshmallows. Your little ones hopefully won’t object to bedtime with the twin rooms one of which is Star Wars-themed and the other which features a dollhouse mounted on the wall and a whimsical fairy wall hanging to decorate. We can’t promise they’ll want to stop playing and go to sleep though.

Two buildings make up this family-sized home on the outskirts of Torquay. It’s a fifteen-minute walk from the town centre for all the seafood and sailing you can handle. Large families or groups of friends can spread out between two living rooms, two indoor kitchens and a basement chill-out room complete with arcade games, beanbags and a huge flatscreen TV. We love the long dining table in the conservatory, crowned with twisting vines. But it’s the outdoor space that drew us in, with a hot tub on the covered terrace, curtained lounge area and a full outdoor kitchen protected from the elements.

Named after the beautiful blue waters that this apartment overlooks, this coastal getaway couldn’t be better placed to explore all of Torquay’s scenery and attractions. Take in the sweeping view of the sea and boat-lined harbour from the light-filled living area. 

For a leisurely approach, you can also watch the sea wake up from the master bedroom. When you've awoken from your slumber, we suggest enjoying alfresco meals overlooking the bay on the terrace. 

If you can drag yourself away for some activity, you’re perfectly located for venturing further afield. Whether it’s to the award-winning restaurants on the doorstep or the vast selection of outdoor activities, you’ll have plenty to keep you busy. 

You’ll also have access to the residence’s communal gardens, along with easy access to Rock Walk in the Royal Terrace Gardens. Back at home, the relaxing interior, with a calming nautical tone, offers the ideal spot for a bit of downtime with the family.

Soak up the warm sunshine on the terrace before slipping on your sandals and strolling along the South West Coast Path. 

When lunchtime rolls around, head into the heart of Torquay, around a ten-minute walk away, to sample the independent eateries. If you fancy swapping the seaside for the country, Dartmoor National Park is less than an hour’s drive from your building.

Of course, days here are best spent wandering along the traditional pier, snacking on fish and chips at Goodrington Sands and dipping your toes in Tor Bay. Bring your bucket and spade, as you’re within easy reach of several beaches. We love paddling at Paignton, which is a twelve-minute drive, and exploring the harbour in Torquay, which is sixteen minutes away. 

If you prefer to keep your feet dry, there’s still plenty to enjoy here. The South West Coastal Path is a dream for hikers and cyclists, and you have all of Dartmoor’s delights to discover too.

Whoever gets to sleep in the Captain's Cabin bedroom gets a gorgeous view of the surrounding harbour right from the comfort of their own bed – imagine waking up next to that blissful sight every morning.

There's a fantastic selection of eateries by the harbour front as well as a cosy pub that serves delicious local produce. A big, bright family home with a rear garden that drops away, it offers up staggering vistas, with big windows and a huge terrace built to make the most of it. Period touches like parquet floors, fireplaces and bay windows nod back to the 1930s, while luxurious, modern furnishings bring everything right up to date.

Perfect for families, there's a great deal of space to spread out in, with an open layout to the fully equipped kitchen and dining space – with one of the best views in the house. Elsewhere, a cosy living room boasts velvet sofas, a log burner and sliding doors to the terrace, while a second sitting room doubles as an extra bedroom, with a wheelchair-accessible ground-floor bedroom off it.

Upstairs, the main bedroom is a lesson in elegant styling, and we love not only its far-reaching views across the hills but also its stunning en-suite – the freestanding tub is such a treat. And we'd have been quite content if it stopped there, but this home also comes with a slight surprise – underneath the rear terrace, you'll find a bonus room used as a gym, with a treadmill, bike machine and weights.

Enjoy all your meals on the sunny terrace during the summer months, gaze out across the sea and even watch the steam trains go about their business at the local heritage railway. It's just a walk or a short drive to Broadsands Beach, and you can choose between heading out for a day at Paignton Zoo, visiting Brixham Harbour or even grabbing your clubs for a game of golf nearby – it's all within easy striking distance.

This is a barn conversion in which the standard of the renovation has been of such quality that it's nigh-on impossible to picture its functional past. Set in twenty-six acres of Devon countryside, the building has been given some hi-tech features, including a ground-source heating system and an intelligent lighting system, as well as a lot of large glass windows that make the space a lot brighter than could be expected of an old barn. Our favourite space has to be the mezzanine lounge, reached via a glass spiral staircase and with a skylight on one side that's perfect for stargazing. The large kitchen looks the picture of modernity, but there's an Aga in place for a touch of rusticness. Stepping outside, there's a large patio area complete with an alfresco dining table, barbecue and fire pit, so you can sit out here on summer evenings and bask in the spectacular view of Longcombe Valley. The medieval town of Totnes can be reached in seven minutes in the car and offers plenty of quaint shops and restaurants to explore. Paignton Beach is a seventeen-minute drive away, too.
