The waterfront is also only a stone's throw away, offering access to ferries and boat hire, providing ample opportunity for the best of town and coastal adventures. Inside the home, the open-plan living area welcomes you to relax by the gas fire, while both bedrooms (one of which is en-suite) give way to views of the communal garden below – the perfect spot to relax with a glass of wine after a day of exploring. 


Salcombe Ballad

Explore the delights of South Devon from this picture-perfect penthouse apartment, ideal for a family looking to get away from it all. Located in the sleepy village of Torcross, it's an excellent spot to recharge your batteries away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The modern, open-plan design means you won't miss out on any of the fun, whether you're relaxing on the low sofa or preparing a mouthwatering dinner in the sleek kitchen. At the end of the day, the three bedrooms offer a tranquil sanctuary and a sound night's sleep. Blessed with a prime position, you're just a short walk away from a three-mile expanse of shingle beach and the pristine Slapton Ley Nature Reserve – a haven for birders. Meanwhile, history buffs will appreciate the opportunity to discover more about the ill-fated Exercise Tiger that took place here in April 1944. Finally, if you want to explore further afield, the picturesque towns of Dartmouth and Salcombe are within a half-hour drive.

If you do want to venture out, the lovely harbour town of Dartmouth, a twenty-five-minute drive away, is lined with restaurants, pubs, and bars. You can't beat seafood when it's this fresh!

By the Sea Shore

This Grade II-listed fisherman's cottage showcases the best of Salcombe. The panoramas are incredible – whether you're waking up in the bedroom or enjoying a cup of tea on the south-facing terrace, you'll have a direct view of the boats bobbing in the estuary. Indoors, the 19th-century character complements the contemporary design, creating a calm, cosy place to unwind. There's a laundry room accessed via the alleyway, plus a handy wet room to rinse off sandy paws. As for the location, there's no comparison. You'll be perched along Victoria Quay's sea wall, only a short stroll from the high street and quayside.

The Little Fisherman

With uninterrupted views of the river and rolling countryside, and the beach just a stone's throw from the beach, this striking holiday hideaway is the perfect place for family trips or escaping with a group of friends. Sleeping up to ten people, this spacious, light, and elegant property makes the most of its location, with floor-to-ceiling windows, elegant ash floors, and a barefoot luxury feel throughout. You're within easy walking distance of Bantham Beach – perfect for sunny summer days and pumping surf sessions in the spring and autumn. The Gastrobus is on hand for warming post-dip coffees and locally sourced street food, and there's a charming fourteenth-century pub just up the road. Back home, after stowing your surfboards and rinsing off your gear under the outdoor hose, you can enjoy direct access to the outdoors from the open living area and the master bedroom on the lower ground floor. There's plenty of space out here for alfresco feasts and sunbathing sessions, plus private access to the estuary for Blyton-esque riverside adventures for the kids. For a change of scenery, head to well-heeled Salcombe to spend a day sailing on the estuary, creating your own personalised gin and dining in waterside brasseries – it's a twenty-minute drive away.

Follow the River

Tucked away in a secluded valley, yet with South Ham's water's edge and Devon's beaches a short drive away, the setting of this cottage is one of a kind. Part of an impressive country estate, kids will love the shared indoor heated pool, tennis court, playground and vast communal lawns found within the grounds – not to mention the trampoline, slide, climbing frame, sit-on tractors and football pitch. It's worth noting this elegant cottage only has a small private courtyard leading off the kitchen. But with those shared terraces overlooking the valley for barbecues and pizza oven nights, we can forgive that.

A Devon Dream 

This former writer's retreat is a luxurious woodland escape just outside the seaside town of Salcombe. Better still, Salcombe's centre is just a short stroll away, so you'll never be too far from shops, eateries and the water.

This Grade II listed cottage is a true original among the portfolio of luxury holiday homes in Salcombe. Located in a peaceful corner of Batson but still close to all the action on and off the water – you've got the best of both worlds here. The front garden captures the sun for most of the day and is perfect for morning cuppas. Add in a children's loft bedroom with a TV snug, and you can see why this home caught our eye. If nine of you are sharing, there may be some waiting around in the mornings with just two bathrooms. But in a house this stylish and with so many cosy nooks to relax, we doubt you'll be in a rush.
