With plenty of space to spread out, this ground-floor apartment in an Edwardian home near Westbourne is a fantastic base to return to after a day at the beach. Having a private entrance and garden ensures you have all the privacy you need here, plus private parking is a real premium in this area during the summer months. Although there's room for six, we think the main bedroom is better suited to two adults and two children, while the second bedroom is ideal if you're travelling with another couple. When it's time to explore, you'll find the beautiful sandy beach of Alum Chine just 350 metres away, whilst a 15-minute walk will get you to the eclectic mix of boutiques, cafes and bars of Westbourne and its beautiful Victorian arcade.

Where do we start with this home – both the apartment and the location are excellent. Firstly, it’s just a 50-metre stroll across West Cliff Green to the beach steps making this the perfect base for a family-friendly holiday by the sea. There are an array of restaurants and bars within walking distance whilst Bournemouth Pier and the town centre are also accessible by foot. We love the sea views from this place’s private garden and who wouldn’t want to dine or relax in the light-filled conservatory? If you’re a group of eight, then two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living space, but it’s a spacious room. What a great find this is.

A fifteen-minute walk from the sea, this light-filled apartment is an excellent place to recharge after a day out and about in Bournemouth. There are plenty of entertainment options to keep you occupied when you're not exploring – strum a tune on the acoustic guitar, put a record on the vinyl player, curl up with a well-thumbed book or sprawl out on the sofa and watch a Netflix movie. With crisp white walls and clean-lined furniture, the vibe here is minimal and modern. And we like the little extras, too, like the slow cooker in the glossy kitchen, Crabtree & Evelyn soaps and a lavish rainfall shower. 

Another thing we love? The location. Just steps from Charminster High Street, this ground floor flat is brimming with Victorian character. It's a lovely red-brick townhouse, with plenty of historic charm to admire – think high ceilings and picture rails, ornamental ceiling roses, tall skirting boards and large bay windows flooding the rooms with light. Though it's on the smaller side, it's been well-designed to maximise the space – we think it's perfectly suited to a couple after a romantic escape. Read the morning paper in the plush armchair, help yourself to a selection of cereals and teas at the rustic breakfast bar or unwind after a busy day with a movie night in the cosy living room. The kitchenette is more suited to light bites than extravagant meals, so in the evenings you may want to dine out – there's an array of cafes, pubs and restaurants in Charminster to choose from. Bournemouth town centre and its sandy beaches are a twenty-five-minute walk (though we recommend driving), or venture a little further and enjoy a trip to the Jurassic Coast, famous for its fossils – you can be there in under an hour.

The beach is just a short walk away, which also means you can enjoy wonderful views here – there are 180-degree panoramas of the Isle of Wight, Sandbanks, and Swanage, which can be enjoyed from the balcony. Tall ceilings, sash windows, oak floorboards and chandeliers are the order of the day here, along with all-white decor and pops of colourful modern art. There's a squashy sofa in the cosy living room, and a well-kitted-out, modern kitchen if you'll be cooking at home. Nestled in the beautiful maritime surroundings of Poole Quay, this home is a real gem in a corner of England that is often overlooked for popular seaside destinations such as Cornwall and Devon. Situated on the fourth floor, this stylish apartment boasts stunning 180° panoramic views over Visitors Marina, Brownsea Island and Purbecks beyond. Whether you're watching the sunrise or waiting for it to set, you'll absolutely love spending time on the balcony here. Make yourself a cream tea and a cuppa and watch the boats come in and out of the quay. Take in the sound of seagulls passing by and feel the sea breeze on your skin.

One of the best things about this home is its proximity to southeast beaches. Sandbanks is the pick of the bunch, and it only takes sixteen-minutes by car. When you're feeling hungry, there are a lot of great places to discover within walking distance. Take a four-minute scenic stroll along the harbour to Quayside, where you'll find a variety of restaurants, pubs and wine bars. You can't come here and not sample the fish & chips either! We recommend the fourteen-minute walk to Lakeside Fish & Chips for some hearty, traditional grub.

The location is perfect for exploring on foot – pubs, eateries, shops, and seaside walks are within easy reach. That said, there's a bright first-floor living area where everyone can chill out together, as well as a ground-floor main suite with its own small patio. Two pups are also welcome to tag along – now that's coastal fun for the whole family.

If you're more of a city dweller than beach bum, head to the copious cafes, bars and restaurants that shape the centre.
